With the female resting and recovering in the burrow Jack still couldn't fathom the situation he was in.
The amount of luck he had and not only him but the girl had to be able to evolve at the moment right before her death successfully saving her from the clutches of death.
This evolution would bring untold contributions to the tribe and its strength. Though unknown what specialization she would evolve towards yet Jack couldn't wait for her full recovery. With the evolution her whole body would make a recovery including her missing hand.
Quickly returning to finish the battles since he the referee suddenly disappeared. Settling the few matches remaining as everyone went to sleep for tomorrows matches.
With the sun in the sky and the warriors gathered in the arena Jack announced to the tribe great news.
"Warriors yesterday during the battles not only have all of you shown your strengths and honor but also the Lord had blessed us with one of his kin." Jack started his speech with a fanatical light in his eyes as he preached.
"One of the warriors that was competing showed utmost willpower and courage during her final moments not only successfully winning her the fight but giving her a new chance to live."
"It is my greatest pleasure to announce to you that one of our tribe members has successfully evolved into a dragonoid ." Jack finished as he observed the crowd's silence.
After a few seconds of absolute silence as the crowd stared into space stunned the crowd erupted in excitement asks all sorts of questions on who it was, how it happened and can it happen again.
Trying to calm down the crowd to begin the next round of battles which took almost an hour to accomplish with the pure excitement and greed the kobolds unleashed and couldn't contain.
As the day returned to its original plan every kobold seemed to return to original as well if not for the light within each contestant and every child's eyes that shone with hope for this new future they see before them.
Even though the battles started later than planned the day quickly finished the fourth round with no special occurrences happening besides one of the kobolds getting a pass due to the missing participant.
As the day ended the light in each kobolds eyes dimmed but didn't vanish. Even if unlikely every kobold still held the hope for evolution.
Jack left the leader to do his own thing as Jack observed the evolving kobold and tried to figure out what is happening.
Deciding to experiment Jack used his ability growth on her as much as possible. The faith isn't worth much besides for buffing people which permanent buffs won't happen for awhile and he can regain enough faith for the regular buffs.
Noticing how the growth didn't seem to speed up the evolution but give it the necessary energy to continue evolving. Jack figured without his help that the likelihood of the original evolution finishing successfully was low. With her being massively injured and that she was only lv 1 didn't help this equation either.
Though with the almost pure life energy Jack gave to the female before he noticed that giving extra seemed to not have an effect. Hoping for the best Jack continued observing the process hoping to understand something.
With the beginning of the next day Jack once again announced that today would be night battles. The kobolds even if their hope has switched frequently it has once again rose to new levels as the evolution took place during the night.
As the day transitioned to night the few remaining warriors gathered in the arena each with bloodlust for what is to come.
Quickly starting the first fight not wanting to waste time with meaningless saying as the kobolds will probably tune it out anyway.
As fourth match finished signifying the end of the matches for the night each kobold looked down as they sighed since no one evolved.
Jack looked at them with a grin since evolving is rare and how could it happen so soon after the first. Even if the tournament contributed he didn't hold expectations for a second.
Once again observing the evolution and putting in life energy to supply the evolution the night passed without problem.
With the semifinals today the injured losers waited in the stands to observe the final champions on who would fight for leadership. Though they were unsure what effect the dragonoid would have on the leadership.
As the final female competed against a male in the second match the winner of the first match waited and watched observing who would be his opponent.
As the female competed against the male somehow to the confusion of both the crowd and Jack both warriors lost their weapons and the fight turned into a brawl.
With fists flying initially before a test a of strength began to decide the winner. Jack looked down in disappointment as this was just embarrassing to watch.
Without a doubt every believed the male would win as men were generally stronger than females. An to no ones surprise the male won beating the female before brutally punching her to her death. Even with all the bloodshed and the adaptation everyone in the crowd winced at this brutal display.
As Jack walked next to the kobold to declare him the winner and unexpectedly the winner collapsed.
Jack stood in shock for the second time in a few days as why would this healthy and uninjured man collapse.
Bending down to try to figure out the reason Jack touched to find the pulse of the warrior.
Realizing what was happening Jack in a crotched position once again for the third time watched in shock as this kobold was also evolving. Without a clue how this kobold was worthy Jack backed away ordering nearby kobolds to carry the winner to his burrow.
As Jack stood in silence thinking about how this could happen the first winner came up to him and asked if he won the tournament.
Realizing that there would be no final match due to this abrupt ending left Jack in tears as he had planned the ending ceremony and what would happen afterwards to reestablish order to the tribe. Congratulating the kobold on his win Jack left in anger as his plans had come to ruin.
Though happy that his tribe now had two dragonoids.
