Gary who was standing behind Drake was furious, not at Drake, professor Oak or any of the Pokémon but at himself. He followed Drake so he could mock his starter Pokémon, not watch him get a shiny Pokémon (who are known for being stronger than normal ones and having better egg moves) and catch a freaking Dragon type Pokémon. But instead of showing anger and embarrassment he tried to play it off cool and said " Hmmph even if you do have an advantage right now, I'll surpass you soon and you'll never catch up. Hahahahaha." Gary laughed triumphantly and walked away before he saw something else that could shatter his confidence.

Slightly stunned by Gary's outburst, Drake shook it off and focused on petting his two Pokémon. Professor Oak then said " They placed their faith and their children with you. Make them proud." He then started walking down the hill but paused and said " I left you a surprise in your Pokédex there's a message there too" and then continued walking away. Drake then proceeded to check his Stats. 'Athena show me my stats and Pokemon page.'

Drake was shocked, he was shocked about the amount of money he had, $ 100,000 popped up in his account. But most importantly he was shocked by his Pokémon's moveset and stat levels, let it be known that most young Pokémon at their level had lowest level F rank or E rank stats. 'Another benefit of having strong parents I guess. Since S rank is the highest rank I'll try to get them to at least A rank before I let them evolve. Now that I think about it Both me and my Pokémon have great genes. Nepotism at it's finest.' Drake made a "🤔" face while pondering on the subject before opening the note function on his Pokédex.

He then saw Professor Oak's message which said " The amount of help you've provided me these past nine years has helped me greatly. You taking care of my beloved Pokémon and settling down the occasional conflicts and rampaging Pokémon on the ranch has provided me with more time to focus on my research. So i'm giving you two gifts, I've transferred $100,000 into your account this contains the money you would have received from your internship stipend and what I received from that poacher when he paid me for the damages he caused. Since you resolved the conflict the money is yours. Your second gift is that you can send your extra Pokémon here and we'll take care of it on the ranch, Pokémon shouldn't remain in Pokéballs for too long. Go forth and turn your dream of becoming the greatest Dragon Master alive a reality, I know you will, just remember to enjoy the moments and call your mother often otherwise she'll come here blaming me again.

After reminiscing for a bit he used his new Pokédex on all of the Pokémon on the hill before heading down to use it on the other's on the ranch while simultaneously bidding them farewell. By the time he was finished and was walking out of town with his Pokémon in tow, about to step onto Route 1 he spotted Ash in his green pajamas now rushing to professor Oak's lab for his starter. Drake just smirked and continued walking, Ash would be fine. After walking on Route 1 for about an hour he finally saw his first wild Pokémon, A Rattata, without wasting a moment he instructed his Charmander to use Flamethrower on the unsuspecting Pokémon, thoroughly roasting it and rendering it unconscious. Pleased with the fact that Charmander listened to his commands, turning around to congratulate his Charmander for winning it's first battle he saw it's condition and realized that it was indeed different from the games. He couldn't expect his Pokémon to fire off attacks continuously with no breaks, especially with young weak Pokémon like his Charmander. After smiling at his Pokémon he congatulated it and patted it's head which elicited a pleased "Charrrr" and they then continued their journey.

While walking he decided to allocate his unused stat points, he put 15 into Endurance, 5 into Agility and 3 into strength. Feeling the warm current pass through his body quickly refining his muscles and bones he almost moaned in pleasure ( A.N. I had to say it, it's necessary in every system novel. lol ). Drake decided to Raise his Endurance to 50 as soon as possible because the more Endurance he had the more stamina he had and the more damage he could take. This world is as dangerous as it is amazing, the Pokémon here looked a hell of a lot less like cartoon characters and more realistic and definitely more dangerous.

After having Dratini use Flamethrower on another unsuspecting Rattata and confirming that they indeed obeyed his orders, he decided to focus on Charmander until it caught up to his Dratini. After a few more steps.

Drake asked Athena ' Why am I now receiving the quest for catching my first Pokémon?'

' huh ' It was a bit weird but who was he to complain he already had a cheat, why complain about it. So Drake continued along Route 1 while battling a few wild Pokémon like Pidgeys, Rattatas and a couple solitary Spearows. He didn't want to anger a flock like Ash and Pikachu did, it took a few hours but he made it to Viridian city. He found his way to the Pokémon Center to heal his Pokémon and spend the night there. His Pokémon didn't need much healing as Charmander was rarely hit during his battles, he had great instincts thanks to his parents *coughnepotismcough*. While his Pokémon were away he called home and got an overly excited response from his mother asking him if he was hurt and if he ate and if he had enough money, then cursed her husband who said $50,00 was more than enough and that Pokémon journeys are opportunities to learn independence. But she heard none of that and just called him a cheap bastard.

After asking about all aspects of his health and crying about how she missed him she finally asked about his journey and if he caught any Pokémon. She was happy to know that Dratini joined his team, she then passed the phone to Nina and Drake asked her how she was holding up dealing with their mother's nagging and crying alone. Her response was that she would be heading off on her own journey seven years from now and was counting the days.

Drake laughed and then said that he missed them both and then ended the call. He was overtaken by a moment of melancholy before collecting his Pokéballs from Nurse Joy ( Totally hot btw ) and heading to his room where he released his Pokémon and started planning for his journey through Viridian forest and his training during his stay there. He decided to stay in there until his Charmander evolved. After a night of rest Drake left Viridian city the next morning after buying supplies for his food and Pokémon food and Pokéblocks. He then realized that raising Pokémon especially Dragon type Pokémon were expensive, he blew through 10% of his money just buying a weeks supply of them. Luckily things can't go bad in his inventory which is where he puts all his food supplies and he could forage for more in the forest while he's training his Pokémon.
