"Is that what that was? I thought it was some weird new makeup that kids were putting on." She picked up his cold drink and placed it on his nose. "You shouldn't leave it unattended too. Your nose might fall off." She nodded as she spoke.
"You can't believe everything you hear, Sharon." Baron drunkenly slurred behind her.
"But it's true. I heard some doctors cut off limbs that turn purple...they say it will fall off anyways." She spoke hurriedly back at Baron, who rolled his eyes in disbelief.
Sharon was easily persuaded and deceived. She was a nice pretty lady, with dark green eyes and dark brown hair; her husband had run away with his lover, leaving her with nothing. So penniless, she'd turned to prostitution because she was oweing an outstanding debt when she mistakenly dropped a expensive vase at an exhibition one day. Marco found her story sad, yet a little bit comical.
Josephine had just arrived into town. The area was hot and smelly, the streets looked dirty and the people all had grim or overly excited expressions on their faces. She stepped off a wagon and turned to look at the luggage she had piled onto it.
The driver looked at her with a bleak expression and she rolled her eyes, muttering, "The Uber back in this period still sucks."
Josephine pulled a chair off the wagon; the furniture was much bigger than she was and as she struggled to force the thing to budge, she heard laughter from behind her. Josephine turned to see a few men staring at her and some older women shaking their heads at her. She turned back to pull on the chair and the laughter continued; She had planned on ignoring them if they went on their way but they kept treating her like a TV show and she totally snapped.
Josephine turned to them and shouted loudly, "What are you stupid losers looking at?"
The old women's mouths gaped at her attitude and they moved on after they sighed at her and gave judgmental looks. The men on the other hand took her outburst as an invitation to approach her.
"Need some help, little lady?" One man called at her, smirking his chiseled features at Josephine.
The two men that accompanied him only chuckled behind their much bigger friend. The man went on to touch the rest on the wagon as he spoke casually to Josephine.
"How about I help you with all these and you accompany me for a drink?" He folded his arms and winked at her.
Josephine felt an urge to vomit. She turned to look at the strong beefy guy flirting with her, and she smiled widely at him.
"Since you really want to help me, why don't you be the cushion for my luggage?" The man looked at Josephine in total confusion as she quickly kicked the luggage carelessly piled on the wagon.
The chairs, side tables and books toppled onto the man and some landed on his friends. The loud thudding of objects caused people around to turn to the commotion. Josephine turned to look at some men trying to push off the objects drowning their beefy friend.
"Thanks for being such a great cushion, babes," She smiled sweetly at them. The men turned towards her with their fists clenched.
"You...you did this on purpose!" One of the shorter men came up to look her in the face as he spat his words at her.
"He offered to help me. What's the problem? Didn't I say thank you?" Josephine yawned comically and smiled at him.
The man's face burned with fury. He grabbed her collar and pulled her close to his face.
"You trying to get yourself hurt lady?" The man growled at her, and the word 'lady' made Josephine's blood boil.
She was already having a terrible day; she wanted to be on her own and get rid of the junk that Madia told her to sell. But now she was being ganged up on by three grown ass, gross men. However, she assumed it would be easy to chase these scoundrels away; she had faced much stronger and bigger men before. Josephine grabbed his wrist and twisted, but nothing happened; then she remembered she had faced those men when she was Luca, not a weak little girl. Suddenly, she became a bit weary of her situation when she saw the two other men getting up on their feet and approaching her angrily. This wasn't going to end well, she could feel it.
"Ganging up on a lady? How manly of the three of you." A voice distracted Josephine from her impending doom, and when she turned around, she saw a face with a broken nose; the very same nose that she broke.
Marco smiled widely at Josephine and she groaned and shouted at him. "I don't need your help, pervert. Get out of here!"
She'd rather get harassed by these men, than get help from this weirdo. Marco ignored her shouts and instead ran up to take a closer look at her. He proceeded to stare at her face intently.
"It's you!" He screamed with great enthusiasm. "I saw a woman being harassed and who would have thought it would be you of all people. To think that these men would even mess with someone as dangerous as you."
He turned to look at the man still holding Josephine's collar tightly.
"Dangerous? A little girl like her? She is just a weakingling," The man who flirted with Josephine spoke up, rubbing the back of his head, which was bruised.
"Why don't you stay out of this? We only have an issue with this silly little bitch," The third man shoved Marco away.
"I'm telling you fellas, she is deadly; look what she did to my nose!" Marco pointed at the purpling bruise forming on his nose. The other men flinched in horror. "And she used some crazy skills that I've never seen before!"
The three men looked at each other in shock; the man holding Josephine's collar quickly let go of it. But they still weren't convinced of how dangerous Josephine was.
"I don't believe you that someone as tiny and weak as her could do that. Are you sure you didn't walk into a damn door?" The men laughed at Marco.
Marco leaned into the three men and whispered sinisterly, "She knows martial Arts."
The three men's eyes widened and they began to back away quickly. "No wonder she can kick so hard; no way a normal woman could kick all those objects off the wagon!" The biggest man tapped his friends' shoulders who were already scurrying away.
"Let's get out of here." The three men quickly walked away from Josephine and disappeared around a corner; they looked over their shoulders a few times to make sure Josephine wouldn't attack them with her mysterious martial arts skills.
"Lucky they are so stupid." Marco turned to look at Josephine, who only scowled at him. "I wasn't lying about the part where you broke my nose. You indeed are dangerous," He tapped her shoulder.
Josephine slapped his hand off her shoulder and she shouted at him, "I said I didn't need your fucking help! Are you deaf? Did I break your ears last night?"
She turned and pushed him out of her way and walked towards the wagon where all the objects were dumped on the ground.
