"I WAS MISTAKEN!" Gokudera kowtowed to Tsuna after a second had passed. "YOU'RE THE ONE WHO'S FIT TO BE THE BOSS!"
"W-what-" Before Tsuna could even finish his words, Gokudera lifted his face with a radiant expression on it and interrupted him.
With a dreamy face and flustered cheeks that send goosebumps down Tsuna's spine, he cried with joy in his voice. "10TH GEN, I'LL FOLLOW YOU!! COMMAND ME TO DO ANYTHING!"
Tsuna could only gulp and slowly back away from this guy, he couldn't help but think that Hayato looked at him like a pervert would for those beautiful women. Could it be that he really swings that way!? "Stay away man, I swear for heavens and earth that I'm straight!"
Reborn shook his head at his words and spoke. "That's not what he means, no-good Tsuna."
Tsuna's eyes slightly twitched at his words. Reborn however ignored that and with the same annoying smile of always, he continued. "Having the loser serve under the winner is a family rule."
Gokudera nodded and slightly lowered his head as he started to gather all the dynamite that hadn't exploded. "Actually, I really didn't have the ambition to become the 10TH gen, it's just that when I heard that 10TH gen is a Japanese guy the same age as me, I felt that I had to test his strength... But you are much more than I expected! With your ability, you could have easily defeated me if you simply let the other bombs explode, but you went and put yourself in the line to save me! I'll place my life in your hands!"
Seeing how sincere this guy was, Tsuna couldn't help but gasp, but after a moment his face eased and he laughed. "Hahahaha! Interesting! Really interesting! Since that's the case, then I'll accept your loyalty, however..." Tsuna's eyes became extremely cold as killing intent spread around. "Don't ever use those bombs when innocent people can be caught in the middle of your explosions!"
"Yes! Juudaime, from now on I'll be careful when using my dynamite!"
[A/N: Juudaime = Decimo(Tenth). It refers to Tsuna's official title, Vongola Decimo.]
Tsuna sighed at the overly excited Gokudera, but he could somehow understand why he was so happy.
Maybe being the Juudaime was something comparable to being a Hokage for the members of the Vongola family. Perhaps what he is feeling now is the same thing he felt when he was personally selected by the Sandaime to work as his bodyguard together with the Anbu Commander, for a small time, he was the equivalent of the Hokage's left hand, even if he was charged with carrying the dirty jobs that the Hokage couldn't trust to Hanzo, to be trusted that much when there were so many signs of revolt coming from the Uchiha clan, he was deeply moved by his actions.
No matter what, the Sandaime was a man of great wisdom that could read people like they were an open book, and he probably saw that I only had good intentions for both the village and my clan.
Shaking his head, Tsuna finally managed to stand up after recovering his breath, despite not being a real fight, this small exercise really drained him of his strength, he wasn't joking before when he said that his body was his biggest hindrance.
* * *
- The mafia boss...
A leader who rules a criminal organization.
Able to move a number of trusted members with one hand, willing to risk his life even for the family, surrounded by the respect and admiration of all.
Seen as a hero by the children of the slums...
Tsuna sighed as he put down one of the 10 books Reborn had asked him to read, his head was resting on the pillow when he turned to the right and watched Reborn shooting something with one of his snipers.
"Reborn, what are you shooting at?"
"Small targets, if I don't shoot at something every day I'll get rusty," Reborn replied matter of factly making Tsuna sigh once more and stand up.
"Going out?" Reborn asked.
"Yeah, I can't stay at home like this every day, since I've finished training and studying for today, I'll stroll around the city and see if there's anything useful to make money... I won't be able to achieve my dreams if I don't found a source of money."
Reborn, nodded and quickly stored his sniper. "Let's go then."
Tsuna flashed a small smile and said nothing about Reborn tendencies of following him, not that it bothered him that much, at least it showed Reborn's commitment to his job.
After letting his mom know that he would be leaving and would come back late so she didn't have to wait for him, he left his home and started walking around the city.
Nanimori was a city that albeit small it still had lots of places and things to do.
As he passed through a bridge, he ended up bumping into someone unexpected.
"Hayato, what are you doing here?"
"Ah, Juudaime! I was going to visit you, I didn't expect to meet you on the way!" Hayato bowed and smiled.
"Eh... is that so? Then you can follow us." Tsuna nodded and after taking a quick glance at the river that passed below the bridge he kept walking.
"Where are we going, Juudaime?"
"We are looking for means of making money, I need a job to buy myself a useful katana in case I have to fight people in the future."
"If that's the case, I can buy the sword for you, Juudaime! There's no need to find a job." Hayato stopped in front of showed his black credit card.
Tsuna looked at it for a moment and remembered something about only very rich people having these kinds of credit cards, apparently, they didn't have a limit of price when you wanted to buy something. He shook his head, however. "No thanks, you might be my subordinate now, but I wouldn't be a real leader if I couldn't depend on myself to solve a minor issue, if there's really I time where I need your help, it will be only then that I'll ask for it. Otherwise, I must find a way myself."
Hayato had tears in his eyes as he heard those words. "As expected from Juudaime! So dependable!"
Tsuna coughed and kept walking around.
On the way, he saw many places that were looking for workers, but after asking he always left with sadness all over his face.
What's wrong with this world? Salary is only paid once a week?
One month to get a miserable amount that could barely be used to pay the rent of a low-end hut? What difference is there to being a slave when you can't even get enough money to survive? It was no wonder that he saw many beggars in the city center.
Society wasn't an easy place for those who lacked the means...
The problem is that with his abilities, the best kind of jobs would be those ones that only relied on fighting skills, but he couldn't think of a way to enter professional fights, the best way that came to his mind was participating in amateur tournaments that were open for the public, but where would he find something like that?
After walking for a time he saw something that caught his attention.
A man was forced into an alley, he wore a luxurious suit and his glasses had the brand of the famous Oklay, meaning they were the kind of glasses that the price ranged between a few thousand to dozens of thousands of dollars.
It was the price of the brand itself that made it so pricey, but those rich people were willing to buy it because it was a symbol of status.
Tsuna stopped Hayato with a frown on his face and pointed towards the man being dragged away by a group of thugs, this scene had the smell of opportunity for him. "Hayato, how good are you in hand-to-hand combat?"
"Good enough to defeat small thugs like those, Juudaime!" Hayato slightly lowered his head as he clenched his fists. "Shall I take care of them?"
"Not yet, but we will probably fight so go through the other alley and help me surround them so that no one can escape."
"Yes, Juudaime!" With excitement on his face, Hayato bowed quickly and ran so that he could block the other side of the alley where the thugs had gone.
Reborn had already disappeared by this time, he was probably watching Tsuna act on his own to see how he would handle this situation.
Tsuna himself didn't care about that, what he was interested in though is... paid protection!
Haha! Who would have thought that the book Reborn had told me to read would have such a useful way of making money!
