*Sigh* I sit on my bed in my own mansion, falling back onto the sheets gracefully before taking out my phone.
Harriet: Girllll, I found someone of interest for you!!
Me: Can I get his bio first? Lol.
Harriet: Sure. He's 24, like you. He has some standings because his family has a restaurant so he doesn't know too much about the business world that you're in, and, my husband told me that he knows him and he's a decent guy. 😁👍
Me: ...
Me: Decent as in?
Harriet: As in... he is nice and caring and hasn't been known to like, cause any trouble nor be a "womanizer".
Me: Okay. Sounds... interesting. Count me in. When will this date take place?
Harriet: Tomorrow at 12 pm.
Me: 😲 Harriet!!! That's really soon!
Harriet: I believe in you! ✊
Me: Smh. Fine, i'll be there. Is the picnic still on then?
Harriet: Oh yeah totally. Let's see how the first date goes!
Me: Okayyy.. talk later. I have to find some somewhat nice clothes. 😑
Harriet: Hehe. Byee!!
I drop my phone on the bed before standing up and walking to my closet.
"Okay. A nice dress to eat at a cafe in." Harriet sent me the details regarding where it was going to be and it's supposed to be in a cute cafe that is sort of expensive still.
"That's it!" I pick out a floral dress with almost no sleeves and it's up to half way at my thighs. Then i'll wear brown sandal-like heels, with my sunglasses. It's a nice outfit for the date and then to go on a picnic with my friends after the date ends too.
I smile at the outfit before heading back over to my bed to look at my phone. Something is telling me to check the news for today so I do. When I look, I see myself and then articles titled, "Popular Female Billionaire Elizabeth Carnell Getting Married" and "Elizabeth Carnell Might Finally Be Tying The Knot" and even "Elizabeth Carnell Forced Into Arranged Marriage." None of which are true and also are very exaggerated. I don't have an arranged marriage and I'm not getting married right this instant. I'm literally going on a date tomorrow.
I throw my head into the palm of my hand. "Great. That same date is probably going to catch the paparazzi's eye and then they're probably going to think I'm cheating on my "fiancé." Ughhhh, my life is so hard!" I then lie back on my bed throwing a fake tantrum before getting a ping on my phone.
"Leo Fonseca Is Said To Be Getting Married, Is It Elizabeth Carnell?" I basically choke on air once I read this before sitting up straight.
"Leo Fonseca. It's been a while since I heard that name." I say aloud before thinking of my childhood. As I grew up in a household that was very business oriented and very rich, I only interacted with other people of the same standing as a child. Leo Fonseca was the only one that I liked enough to become friends with. We were friends up until he left to study abroad in England. That was only about 4 maybe 5 years ago.
He was incredibly funny and caring and also didn't like that his family was so strict but as he grew up, he definitely made it his goal to become a billionaire. Not that I didn't like him after that. Most people thought we would just make some agreement or arranged marriage because of how close we were. That didn't happen, clearly. Yes, I would marry him, for convenience but also, he is a guy I could see myself with.
Right after I finished my relishing in childhood memories, I decide to just go to bed seeing that the day is basically over and I guess I need a lot of time to get ready for tomorrow.
. . . . . . . .
*Yawnnnnn* I stretch my arms and legs before skipping down the hall to get some food. I'm not greeted by anybody because I don't like the whole house full of maid's thing, so I'm sort of alone, besides my one butler. I eat some cereal before getting a nice shower and then getting my outfit on. And if you're wondering, I woke up around 10.... but besides that, I get my make-up on before finally finishing and heading to my car which is a nice Mini Cooper, nothing too rich looking. I do have like 8 different cars but, I like to use this one since it isn't the most expensive and noticeable car.
I start driving and reach the cafe by 11:50. I walk in and immediately am greeted by an empty cafe. I look both ways, basically a full 360 before I see a nicely set up table for 2 in one part of the cafe. I'm not too much of a fan of showing my richness and I know this "guy" isn't too rich either but to empty the cafe for me is a bit-
"Elizabeth Carnell?" My thoughts are interrupted by a man in a white dress shirt and somewhat casual pants. He walks over to me before grabbing my hand for a handshake. "Nice to meet you Ms. Elizabeth." I smile and say,
"Nice to meet you too. Beau, was it?" He nods before letting go of my hand and walking to pull out my chair for me.
So, I walk over and right as I'm about to turn to sit in the chair, he goes ahead of me and sits in it. 'Guess that wasn't for me.' I say in my head.
I walk over to the other side of the table and sit down, smiling a bit too much.
"So Beau, you're a chef?" I say looking at the menu.
"Yeah, you could say that." He's looking at the menu too before he beckons for the waiter.
"Sir, Ma'am, what would you like to have?" I smile about to say something when Beau pats my hand and says,
"Ms. Elizabeth, I have you covered. Ah yes sir, we would like to have 2 black coffees with a little cream and a little sugar. And then 2 "La Madeline Au Truffles."" I look at the waiter and then at Beau who is smiling like he has done something fabulous.
"Okay sir." The waiter walks away and I sit there without saying anything. Sort of in shock, I guess. He basically broke all my pet peeves. I might be rich but I still like to be independent. You don't need to pull the chair for me but at least offer me a seat so I know you aren't pulling it out for me. And plus, he does basically everything for me before he even knows me. I don't like coffee. Anytime I go to cafes, I usually get milk teas.
"Ms. Elizabeth. I hope you're enjoying yourself." Beau says and I have one mind to tell him right there and then that I'm done but, he did just buy 2 La Madeline Au Truffles which are about $250 a piece so I would feel bad about leaving before paying for something at least.
"Um, in all honesty, I wish you would've at least asked what I wanted before ordering because I don't drink coffee."
"Oh, but that's where you are wrong. You do drink coffee." I literally stare at him with some anger in my eyes.
"Um, what?" I ask.
"Yes. As an "entrepreneur," you must adopt the ways and drink black coffee and eat rich people foods-" I interrupt him.
"Sorry but, I don't do, "rich people." I live my way and rich people, isn't the way I do things. I'll stay so that you don't have to pay for everything but I'm sorry, I don't think we're right for each other."
He stands right up. "What? How can you say that when we have yet to know more about each other?"
I then stand up myself. "THAT'S THE POINT BEAU! YOU BASICALLY TOOK OVER THE DATE AND YOU DON'T EVEN KNOW IF I LIKE THESE THINGS OR NOT!!!" I yell back.
"You know what? Just because you're more rich than me, you behave more pompously? Hah, forget it, Harriet and her husband were so wrong about you." He says before getting up and leaving.
"Ugh!" I sit down vigorously. The waiter comes back with our food, a bit confused on the situation so I say that I'll pay but he can keep the food for himself or someone else.
I walk out of the cafe fuming trying not to let it show before hopping in my car and driving to the location of the picnic. "So much for my 'first date'." I say aloud to myself.
