Chapter 10

Sam cautioned her, she couldn't speculate how she forgot the Logan Daniels, Chief Executive Officer of Daniels corporation. She guessed he was partially unrecognizable or her mind never brought it to light. She meant to show his photo to Keira when it jumped at her network but Darby called for her attention.

"You're going to hear from my attorney"

He grinned at her false bravado, her green eyes flickered and the golden shades of it were more intense, he saw determination, which he could use to his advantage.

"Unless you wish to buy it back, it's worth over a million dollars"

Keira hesitated, where was she going to find a million dollars? With Sam's college fund and their welfare, those were out of the question. Their trust fund obtained from their deceased parents had been kept for emergencies only, it wasn't even close to half a million.

His grey eyes mocked her with a sardonic smile that left her stomach in knots. This was the most inconvenient time to think about how overpowering his steely eyes were or the fact that he was a very gorgeous and fascinating specimen.

Darby cried clutching onto Sam's hair and arm to show his discomfort.

His gaze rested on the baby before Sam left to keep him out of the cold.

"Will there be any complications?" He asked.

She realized he was coming to an 'understanding' but she wouldn't sell her body to get back what she worked long and hard for, for now, it was just an educated guess.

He was arrogant and carried so much self-importance.

"What do you want? Why are you doing this? Is this about what I said?"

His hair ruffled in the wind, her eyes lowered when he reached into his pocket to fish out a card, she swallowed at the address and a private phone number.

"I have a proposal for you, that could turn this around." He mumbled spinning his gloved index finger.

The wind blew her hair into her face, she awkwardly brushed it back.

"What might that be?"

"Marry me"

Keira cringed, he made an actual proposal, the notion appeared to be unthinkable, laughed holding out her hand with the card hanging limp in between her slender fingers trying to compose herself.

"Okay, what's the proposal?"

He looked serious.

"No." She fought hard not to laugh.

"I thought you might say that, no sane woman would take the plunge without knowing the pros and cons."

She cast him a cynical look folding her arms

"You say it like it's a business proposition."

"Something like that. I need you to pose as my fiancée and wife."

She closed her eyes trying to absorb the shock of being dubbed 'his wife' It was very strange.

"Why me? I mean with your feat, it won't be difficult, there will be women jumping at this... recourse."

He grinned perceiving she had a synonym for recourse.

"But I chose you."

Her eyes flashed "I want no part of your family dilemma"
