A Way Out

Aliana trailed after Lucien towards Prince Elric's study. She was hoping everything would go smoothly but she was concerned about the blowback she might face. Her father never gave her explicit instructions to follow so Aliana felt that this whole situation was a test for her to show the principalities who their next ruler would be.

"Lucien, we have to be tactful in how we proceed," Aliana said suddenly stopping in her tracks. "I don't want Prince Elric to get offended."

Lucien nodded in agreement. "I think that's smart to do, we shouldn't leave earlier than expected."

Aliana sighed and reached for Lucien's hand again before continuing to Prince Elric.

When they reached the Grand Prince's study Aliana steeled her nerves and straightened her shoulders. Lucien smirked and squeezed her hand tightly before knocking on the door.

A footman opened the door and announced their presence to Prince Elric. He looked up from the paperwork he was doing at his desk with a bright smile.
