Chapter 66: Just Tell Me

Getting back to work after their trip was a welcome relief to Jackson. He had always been more of a loner and being around Emma's family was like being thrown in one of his worst nightmares. He didn't mind her family at all, they were pretty cool, but there were just so many of them, and it was so loud all the time. Even the fast pace of work was a welcome change to get him back to his calm world.

The email that sat in Jackson's inbox both excited and bummed him out. Work had been crazy since he'd got back after the first of the year, and looking at the training schedule he'd been sent, it looked like the year would be jam packed.

Dragging his feet, he finally got the nerve to walk into Emma's that night. He knew they needed to have a talk, but it didn't make what he had to tell her any easier. He thought about putting it off as long as he could, but the last time he'd done that, she'd flipped out on him, and they didn't talk for two months.
