Sue was in a daze looking at Judy that formed a fake smile on her face, and then Sue asked, “But you are not 60?”
Judy answered while still forming a smile. “That is why it is an early retirement, dear,” and she tapped on Sue’s shoulder.
Judy held Sue’s arm gently, and they both sat on the sofa. Sue felt that Judy had something serious to inform Sue.
“I am not sure where to start, Sue.” Judy wrung her hands and said, “I never liked to be nosy, but I need to know what happened between you and Janet? I know she never liked you as a daughter, but I cannot explain her recent actions. She has gone so far this time.”
Sue felt it was necessary to tell Judy everything. It was not fair to hide it from Judy anymore. Plus, Sue had a feeling that the early retirement offer was because of something that Judy did to help her. So, she narrated everything Michael told her the other day and how she confronted Janet.
