Chapter 122: A BAD DAY CONTINUES

Zach exited the taxi and walked into Wolfgang Puck's Steakhouse on Park Avenue in Midtown. The last time he'd been here, it was his first date with Jessie. He smiled remembering how she was so adamant about it not being a date. He'd managed to get her there by demanding she tell him, her partner what was going on with the threatening letters. Of course, he didn't know that's what it was at the time because his hard-headed, little spitfire of a partner had left him in the dark claiming she could handle the issue herself. Well, it turned out she couldn't. A strong feeling of melancholy hit him like he'd been broadsided. That was the first time they'd made love. Releasing a sigh, he knew he had to get her out of his mind or he was going to go crazy. He stepped up to the receptionist and gave his name.

"There's a twenty-minute wait," she said.

"That's okay. I'll hang out at the bar. After the kind of day,I've had," he stopped talking and held his hand up, "let's just leave it at that."
