Chapter 211: A WOMAN'S SCORN - PART - 2

Jessie fought to remain calm. Showing any signs of weakness would give Rena the upper hand.

When she heard Rena's laughter in the distance, Jessie knew whoever hit her was an accomplice, and any movement on her part might piss the mad batter off enough that she'd be beaten to death.

Zach's face flashed through her mind. She knew she was on her own with this one. He wouldn't be home until late tonight.

It was difficult to focus on anything except the pain searing through her body. Praying, she begged God to keep her from passing out for fear of what Rena would do to her. She lay on the hard, cold pavers, her entire body ached and stung, making it hard to breathe. She tried to raise her head, but the pain lanced her skull and left her feeling dizzy and unable to form a coherent thought.
