Chapter 214: AN EMPTY HOUSE - PART 1

Jess, I'm home," Zach said, walking into the house from the garage, to music loud enough to wake every neighbor on the block, he covered his ears with his hands and walked to the living room to shut it down.

"What the hell?" Jessie liked a variety of music but Rap wasn't one of them. "Hey, where are you?" he asked, walking through the house, but there was no response.

Walking back into the kitchen, he noticed the deck's porch light was lit. He pushed the slider aside and stepped out onto the deck, called out to her again. No answer. Trying not to panic, his eyes darted around the yard. Although Jess wasn't the type to pull a prank, he was hoping this time, she was.

Seeing an unfinished glass of wine on the small table near the lounge chair with a crumpled blanket half hanging over the side scared the hell out of him. Maybe she'd left a note. But leaving the deck the way she did, or the music blasting was so unlike her.
