Chapter 04: Quirk Awakening

(Yep, 2 chapters today) It's been three days since I've been adopted by the Wild Wild Pussycats. The Pussycats have been teaching me things I need to know in this concrete wilderness. I know most things I would need to know to live in this environment, but not everything I would need.

Today started out the same as the last three days. Wake up, get ready for the day, take social lessons from Pixie Bob, learn history with Mandalay, get used to the new environments with Ragdoll, and, thanks to a suggestion I made on the second day, basic combat with Tiger. Nothing too special, mostly just fundamental moves like punches, kicks, grabs, and working on footwork and recovery. I was great with weapons, thanks to mandatory lessons in the tribe on handling bows and spears, but I wanted to get better at unarmed combat, as it seems to be discouraged to walk around with weapons in the "cities", as Ragdoll taught me. In the tribe, every person you saw carried at least a small dagger, even the very young children, ones younger than me even.

However, things started to change when I was getting ready to go to sleep. I was in the room that Ragdoll told me was a "Bathroom", brushing my teeth, using something called a "Toothbrush". However, as I was about to apply toothpaste to the brush, for no discernible reason, my mind told me to "activate it". I had no idea what it meant, but I tried to activate something within myself. I tried different things for 30 minutes straight, but nothing was happening. As I was about to give up, I imagined something manifesting from inside of me, and then traveling out of me, and that's when it happened. Sharp, powerful bones pierced through the skin on my legs, arms, chest, back, and head at blinding speeds.

It was a chain reaction. First, came the shock from what I just did. Then, came the pain. Oh, the pain. It caught up to me all at once, within a split second. The sting of the first second of the bones manifesting in my body, the shredding of muscles inside my body as it forced it's way out of my skin, the feeling of my skin being skewered by the sharp bones, the gaping wound being exposed to oxygen, making it sting even more than before. The bone that pierced through on my head made blood shower all over my eyes, meaning I was blinded by my own blood. I let loose a scream of pain so loud, that it physically affected the environment. Things were blown back by the sound waves, some trees were nearly uprooted, windows broke within nanoseconds, The nearest city was somewhere around 75 kilometres away from my present location, but if the reports the came the next day were anything to go off of, people from almost all of Japan heard it, and the weather reporters noted that while the scream was ongoing, it was making literal waves in the ocean waters. Animals outside the lodge had their eardrums burst, and some even died. Lastly, the foundations of several buildings in the cities were getting weaker and weaker, and four buildings actually collapsed.

I only stopped screaming when I managed to retract the bone blades back into my torn skin. Shredded and bloody pieces of skin decorated the bathroom floor, covering the tiles. There was so much blood that you could fill three whole bathtubs with it all. The only reason I didn't die from blood loss was because the Kaguya tribe had much, much more resilience than (relatively) normal people, even compared to people with "Quirks" specifically for resilience.

The only reason the Pussycats weren't affected by my scream was because, as Pixie Bob told me later, she covered herself and the others underground with her Quirk when they heard the scream start.

For three hours, I laid on the skin covered floor, so close to death, and wishing for it so that the pain would end. I couldn't even cry from pain, my tear ducts were quite literally empty after my initial scream that shook almost all of Japan.

I awoke in a hospital bed after falling unconscious, and almost my whole body was covered in bandages. (Not like a mummy, but wrapped over almost all of his body, since the bones pierced almost everywhere)

The Pussycats were in the room, along with a small, elderly looking woman. When I awoke, the Pussycats instantly noticed and ran up to me on the bed, They all gave me a tight, yet gentle hug, most likely so they didn't accidentally end up making my injuries even worse.

Pixie Bob: Honey, what happened?!! We heard a horrible scream, and we rushed to the lodge, and-and you were bleeding everywhere, and skin covered the floor!

She was crying, and stumbling over her words, showing that she was, understandably, worried. After all, she basically just saw her kid, bleeding 5 times more than what she's probably ever seen in her whole life, his shredded and bloody skin covering the floor like some kind of grotesque carpet, laying unresponsive on the floor. Imagine being a parent and seeing that.

I explained what happened, starting from the part of my brain giving me that cryptic message, to me ending up activating my quirk, and how that was the cause of my scream of pain.

Me: I don't know what those bones were though...I could never do that in my whole life.

Tiger: Son...you awakened your Quirk.

I....awakened my Lura?!!
