Chapter 42: Training Regimen, The Big Three Introduced

(Daily Music: Sora Ni Utaeba- English Cover)

After the provisional license exams were over, we were given a few days off. The ones who passed, at least.

I spent my free time during the days off drawing up a regimen for me to improve with. This is what it looked like:

1. Do as much physical exercise as possible, go for higher sets each workout.

2. Blindfolded agility training. This would also train my instinctual reactions, and, hopefully, this would allow me to react to certain attacks automatically without having to think about them.

3. Change entire diet to have only foods that contain calcium, milk and cheese for example. This will allow my bones to get stronger by default.

4. Get Ryujin to kill as many animals as I come across so that he can upgrade

5. Inquire into heavier weights from Miruko.

6. Work on my dance styles (If you forgot what this is referring to, re-read chapter 21. It's listed in the chapter list as chapter 24, though.)

7. Make new styles of combat. If I have lots of fighting styles, it becomes impossible for an enemy to adapt to me.

8. Research my transformation.

9. Train the fire quirk I had stolen from the villain a few days ago.

10. Look into the strange connections I feel whenever I enter my transformation.

So, I had spent the days on all of those. First of all, I went to Miruko's agency to inquire about heavier weights.

"Oh, fancy seein' you here, kiddo!", Miruko said.

"Greetings, Miruko. I was wondering if you had heavier weights. The ones I have on now that I left with when the internships ended now feel almost weightless to me.

"Oh, you have no idea how much I wanted to get you these ones!", she said, grinning excitedly.

She led me to a room in the room that I did workouts in for the week long internship, and showed me something that looked similar to the weights I had on, but they were black in colour, and instead of neon blue highlights, they had neon purple highlights.

"How much heavier are these ones?" I asked.

"Well, let's just say that the lowest weight setting on each of these things is a ton!", she answered.

Well, this is going to be excellent.

I put them on all over my body, and activated them. I almost instantly stumbled to the floor.

At the max settings on the previous weights, they all weighed 500kg each. The lowest setting on these were twice that.

With that done, I thanked Miruko and went back to the lodge. Now, with the new weights, I began the physical exercises.

Each exercise was just as, if not more difficult than the first time I ever did the workouts with the weights on for the first time ever at Miruko's agency. However, that's a good sign. It means that the results will be incredible.

After I finished that, I got to the blindfolded agility training.

If you've forgotten, my agility training consists of me jumping from tree to tree in the forest and getting into a rhythm of it, allowing me to fluidly go from tree to tree easily.

(Basically the tree jumping minigame from the first Naruto Ultimate Ninja Storm game.)

Now, adding a blindfold to this would not only train agility, but also instinct.

Getting to it, the first few times, I fell. I wasn't expecting not to, so I just got back to it.

After around the 5th try, I started being roughly able to do it. I couldn't do it fluidly enough to get into the rhythm, though. I also had to take some pauses to orient myself on the branches. Still, it's progress.

At the 8th try, I could do it far smoother. I didn't have to pause as much, my body automatically correctly positioned itself when landing on and when it was about to land on the next branch, allowing me to get into a semi-rhythm. The only thing stopping it from being a perfect rhythm was the lack of sight. The only thing I could do about that is to get good enough at doing this blindfolded to the point where I do just as well without my sight.

This took a lot longer to do. I only pulled it off after the 30th try.

This was a good indicator on just how reliant I was on my senses. It sounds obvious when I say it out loud, but it's a lot more dangerous to be reliant on them than it seems. For example, if I sustained an injury that harmed my sight, it could have seriously hindered me if I hadn't done this training beforehand.

Next up, I wanted to allow Ryujin to kill animals to get stronger. I called him and set out with him to look for prey. However, I was only going to allow him to get one group of animals, since, during the night that I made him kill lots of animals so that his senses could track Mom 3, it almost ended up completely destroying the population numbers of the forest. So, I would let the forest's animals repopulate at a fair pace. At most, I would allow Ryujin to kill 5 animals for now.

We eventually found a few rabbits. I allowed Ryujin to kill them, and he got stronger.

His teeth sharpened, he grew to be 23 metres long, and his body went from his dull white to a more bright variation. His eyes also became red.

With that done, we headed back.

Next on the regimen to try: Work on my dance styles.

The current ones I have are Dance Of The Orchid, a swift style, and Dance Of The Vine, a style focused on confusing my enemies.

I still wanted to have: A lethal style, a defensive style, an evasive style and a calming style.

For today, I want to create a calming one.

Dance Of The Acanthus.

The movement style for this Dance would always be aligned with whichever way the wind faces, allowing me to "dance" with the wind. Attacks would consist mainly of grabs, sweeps, high kicks and swift punches to weak areas, like the core. Also, it would use the weight and size of the opponent against them. The most effective type of person to use this style against would be very large fighters. For example: All Might, Mount Lady, etcetera.

(I have ideas for the other styles, but I want to see if your guy's ideas can intrigue me. You can suggest what other styles should be like. The ones you guys can suggest your ideas for are: The evasive style and the defensive style. I already know what I'm making the lethal style, and I'm proud of it. Keep in mind though, explain your suggestion. Tell me what the movement style is based off of or what it looks like, what attacks the style consists of, who the most effective people are to use against it, etcetera. Also, the name has to be based on a plant.)

Once I was done with that, I went on to train with the fire quirk I had taken from the villain a few days prior.

I activated it, my left arm becoming engulfed in orange flames.

From observing, I saw that it covers from the fingers to the shoulder. However, I wanted to see if I could cover the rest of my body. I tried to focus on an image of the fire covering the rest of my body.

To my surprise, a small bit of the fire actually did spread to other parts, going to the left side of my chest first, since it was the closest thing to my shoulder. However, it didn't go very far.

That just means that it can be bettered with enough effort. I already had an idea on what to do to train it.

I would try and contain the coverage to a small area. This would refine control, which would likely allow me to spread it further as well.

I chose to try and force it to cover only one finger. That would be a sufficient challenge.

I focused on an image: Me activating the ability, but instead of it covering my whole left hand, it only engulfed my pointer finger.

With the image in my mind, I activated the ability.

Flames violently wreathed around my left arm and travelled to the finger. I could see the fire was unstable, as every few seconds, some flames would burst away from the area and go into the air. It seemed that it didn't want to be contained. Like it was a creature being forced into a cage.

Too bad. You are now my Quirk. You will do what I will you to do, whether you want to or not. If I will you to appear on my whole hand, you will. If I will you to appear on only a finger, you will.

The flame began to get less wild, less bursts happening.

If I will you to appear on a single patch of skin, you will. If I will you to appear on so much as a small skin cell, you will. Because you are mine now. Unless you want me to give you to a powerless fool. Never to be used to your full potential, being wasted for the rest of your existence.

The flame became completely contained to the finger. No bursts, no struggles.

Seems that it listened.

(I like the idea of some Quirks having a sort of conscience. As you can see.)

Now, with that done, I focused on the image of the fire covering more than just my left arm.

When I activated it this time, it covered barely more than half of my body. While it sounds impressive, keep in mind that I'm still 8 years old, so I'm not large. Hell, I'm small even by the standards of my age.

Still, it's progress.

When I went onto the last two things on the regimen, I didn't really get much.

The last two remaining things were: Research my transformation, and Look into the strange connections I feel when I enter my transformation.

I got some of the first one done, making some detailed observations about the transformation, such as all the things that changed cosmetically, but there was no progress on the second thing. I still didn't know what the connections were.

However, I did observe one thing.

Both of the connections felt like I had some kind of familial connection to them. The second being a more distant one. The first connection feeling much closer.

(Last hint. If you guys still can't get it, damn. I mean, these are the hints I've given you guys so far: They are characters in the Naruto world, they have white hair, and now, I revealed that they are related to him.)

And so, the next day, we were back at school.

Aizawa introduced us to three students, called The Big Three.

A boy with pointy ears and dark blue hair.

A girl with long, periwinkle-coloured hair.

A boy with blonde hair.

I wonder if they're deserving of their titles.
