"No Fudging way!"
"You brought us to the President's daughter's birthday gala?" Hayley exclaimed.
"Talk about rich and powerful." Alec muttered.
Emilia just stares at him in shock for a few seconds before defending: "It is not about being "rich" I come from a very ordinary family, If you must know. My dad is a plumber and my mother is a...farmer." Damn Em. I hope the devil has an extra throne for this princess, cause' she is going straight to hell.
"So, how did you manage to get invited then? Are we even invited?" It was a joke.
"Oh my God, you think so slowly of me." Emilia chuckles. "I actually ran into Adelaide a while back and we instantly clicked." Emilia smiles chirpily, her sarcasm did not go unnoticed by her friends.
"Stop the cap!" All her friends said in sync.
"Yeah I am definitely lying." Not the first time Em. "I totally hate her guts and vise versa, however, I still managed to get an invite." Immediately after she said this, all her friends gave her a questioning look, as if asking- "Do not ask how." Emilia cut in, all the others then gesture in a lip sealing motion.
The group headed inside the manor with ease as soon as Emilia showed her V.I.P invitation. As soon as they entered, Alec, Michael and Noah rushed towards the giant chocolate fountain, while Levie went off to do whatever he wanted, probably to converse with fellow computer geeks. The rest of the girls were planning to stick around Emilia and have some 'girl time' but when they realized that Ace was not at all planning on leaving his girlfriend's side, James took the four girls to the bar, leaving the couple alone together.
"So, how are you enjoying our first date so far?" Ace asks, interrupting the silence between. Just as Emilia was about to answer, she was interrupted by a very annoying and very overly egotistic, uninvited guest. Well technically, she -wasn't- an uninvited guest, because she is the host.
"Amanda, how nice of you to be here!"
Yup, you guessed it.
Adelaide stood firm at her 5 feet 11 inches height, her stilettos adding a few inches to her normal height. In reality, she was taller than Emilia by a few inches, causing her to feel confident in trying to intimidate Emilia, but of course, no matter how high her heels were, Emilia was just not born to be intimidated, in fact, Emilia, though only at a height of 5 feet 4 inches, still manages to intimidate multiple people, taller that her, for her social height was much more higher than any of theirs.
She wore a silver sequin, off the shoulder train, floor length gown. She was stunning, to say the least, it was her birthday after all, so she stood out the most. Her strawberry blonde hair was gelled back at stopped just below her shoulders. Apart from that, she was half British, by her mother's side, so her British accent just added to her stunningness.
"Adelaide, darling, it is always a pleasure." Emilia answered with the same amount of sarcasm.
"Wait. Amanda?" Ace questioned. He was simply curious as to why this girl was addressing his girlfriend by the wrong name.
Emilia's heart skipped a beat, but nevertheless, she replied, like the professional liar she was turning into.
"Yeah, it is just a nickname, you know, Amanda is my middle name, so..." Emilia trailed off. Luckily, Ace didn't realize that Emilia so happened to share named with the princess. Amanda as her middle name, which was the princess's first name, and Emilia as her first name, which was the princess's middle name.
"Oh, okay, that makes sense.
It broke Emilia's heart to lie to her boyfriend and friends. She knew it was for her own safety, but she still hoped she could tell them the truth, someday, hopefully very soon.
"So. Emilia..." Adelaide trailed off, she new she had to call Emilia by her middle name in front of people, she was informed by her parents that the princess was going about under disguise, however, that did not stop her from messing around a little. "How are you enjoying my party so far?" She asked. Ace was already annoyed by her because of multiple reasons: 1 was that he was the one that was asking Emilia if she was enjoying herself first, before Adelaide rudely interrupted his and his girlfriend's conversation. 2 She was the definition of bratty and too stuck up. 3, he could try and cut the tension between the two girls with a chainsaw and it still wouldn't work.
"Well I just got here but, so far, everything seems...interesting." Emilia fake smiled, which earned her a fake smile from Adelaide as well. "Happy Birthday by the way. I hope you don't mind but I was unable to get a gift for you, you know, with everything going on, I've been really busy." On the surface, it looked like Emilia was implying that school was stressing, so she never had the chance to look for a suitable gift, but both her and Adelaide knew that she was referring to the fact that she was a princess who was disguising as a regular high school student, so obviously she had better things to do than worry about getting a gift for someone who is merely the daughter of a president, on top of that, they both hated each other, why would she give her a present?
"No worries, I'm sure you were." After saying that, Adelaide shifted her gaze towards Ace, who was looking at the two women in silence. "Oh, where are my manners?" she chirps, before bringing the back of her hand towards Ace. "I am Adelaide. The president's daughter."
Ace just stood where he was and stared at her stretched hand intensely. Surely she was not hoping he would kiss that, did she?
Ace straightened his back and looked straight into Adelaide's eyes, she couldn't help but feel a bit nervous. If one was to look at her closely, they could see that her body was slightly trembling, as if she was left to climb mount Everest without a jacket. Something about this guy just seemed so dangerous. Then she remembered something: She was the president's daughter! who does this boy think he is to just stare at her that way? he should be delighted to even kiss the bottom of her foot, much less her hand. Right?
Wrong!
She was the one who had no right. For as soon as the man uttered his own name from his cold lips, Adelaide started to have an internal panic attack.
"Ace...Kingsman."
