"Mom, how are they?" Trinity asked as Dorin entered the kitchen. As a doctor, she had spent most of the day with the three teens, calming them down as each recalled how they had been thrown out of a burnt bar window, getting caught by an orange dragon, then darkness engulfing them. It took a lot of convincing to get them to agree to Dr Elise helping them, but most of the work had to be done by Dorin, as they were not very trusting of her.
"They're stable, their wounds have been healing well," the tired woman replied.
"They're still so scared of me!" Dr Elise walk in, looking a little disappointed. "Trinity, can you pass me some water, please?"
"They just need a little more time! Shall I go talk to them?" Trinity asked, throwing a bottle water to Dr Elise.
"I don't think that's a very good idea. They didn't see me turning, yet they jump out of their skin every time they see me; they've seen you turn... imagine how'd they react!"
"Elise is right Rin. I've seen how they behave in front of her... "
"Just give me one chance! If they get spooked, I'll walk out of there and never show my face to them again!" Trinity was determined to try. She had made a deal with them. She kept her part, though they didn't really need to keep their part, because she had already met Mr King.
"Wooah... what is she doing here?"
"You have gotta be kidding me!"
YOU!? No..."
"This is no way to greet the one who saved your lives!" Trinity said, ignoring their jabs, as she walked towards them. The trio still looked pale, and weak. As soon as they saw her at the door, they became alert.
"Saved our lives? SAVED OUR LIVES? Is this what you call saving someone's life?" Eric questioned, as loudly as he could. They were laying here... whatever this place is, and they were hurt so badly they were unconscious for more than a week, and this stupid girl just said she saved their lives. They would have been in a way better condition in that dungeon, or even if they were dead, Eric and his friends would have at least expected it.
"I know you're mad..." "Mad?" Eric questioned in a shocked tone. "We're not mad! We're LIVID"
"Look; I need you to understand that I did what was necessary to get you three out of there..." Trinity tried explaining herself, but was cut short again by Eric "even if it meant getting us almost killed?"
"Listen to me closely!" Trinity had had enough of this erogant fool. Her face came closer to his, eyes meeting each other's. She saw a flash of fear in the young man's eyes. "I risked not only my life, but that of my friends lives as well, just to get you scumbags out of that hellhole. If you don't appreciate that, we can always take you all back and give you back to the Dragon Lord, and ask for his forgiveness."
"Please... let us go," Abigail squeaked.
"You all should have listened to us and left that place alone, but nnoooo, you had to run around lookin for my kind, and now you pretend that we're the bad guys." Trinity left Eric's collar, and looked towards Abigail. "We saved your asses and by doing so became unwanted; refugees from our own kind, and here you show us...." "Trinity!!!"
Tyrone's cool hands on her shoulder calmed her enough to make her realize that the air had become hot inside. Dragonia was about to be unleashed.
"Rin?" Dorin appeared, half shocked, half relieved. "You said that..." "sorry mom"
Three loud gasps made the other look at the beds. Eric, Susan and Abigail were stunned.
"I'm her mother, but I'm not a dragon. Her father was..." Dorin explained quickly.
Trinity left, followed by Dorin and Tyrone, who gave the humans a look of warning before leaving.
"You know, she's kinda right." Abigail and Eric shot their heads toward Susan. "She did save our lives and we kind of overstepped our boundaries," the short girl continued, ignoring her friends glaring.
"Sue.... "Eric couldn't say anymore. Deep down he knew his friend was right. This girl had indeed stepped up to that bulky man when everyone else just wanted them killed. But why didn't she just set them free? Ah yes, they needed Taylor King's help.
Taylor... his brother! His protector! Eric realized that he was mad at his brother more than anyone. His own blood betrayed him.
"I've called your brother to come pick you all up," Dr Dorin was by their side. "Don't worry, I'll give you all some injection and pain relief meds so you will be fine."
"I don't want to see him!" Eric spat. The last thing on his mind was his brother.
"You are now strong enough to travell, and we need you out of here," Dorin said sternly. The one week that Markus, on behalf of the Dragon Lord, had given them would be over in a day. It wouldn't be safe for a bunch of teens to stay here; not when everyone will be on the battlefield.
"Can we speak with... Trinity? That's her name right?" Eric said. "And the other dragons with her..." He added quickly.
"Hey," Trinity said, sitting on the sofa. Dorin had helped her patients slowly walk to the living room, and now Taylor had also joined them, getting them new clothes to change into. Only then did they realize they were in a hospital gown. Trinity's friends also joined her, cautiously.
"Yeah... look, we're sorry about earlier. I was angry at him," he looked towards the man with blue eyes, "and I took it out on you... all of you," he said, looking at all of them. "Dr Elise, I apologize for my actions earlier."
"It's no big deal," the doctor said, smiling,
As did all the dragons.
"We're just glad you realized we're not the enemy," Tyrone said.
"I just have a question before we go..." Eric said, looking at Trinity, "back when we were caught by the other dragons, why didn't you let us go free... I remember you say something about not setting us free? Is it because you wanted to see my boss?" His gaze went to Taylor, irony evident in his voice, then back at the girl.
"Partly yes.. we did need to meet Mr King, and partly because...Ty?" She looked at her mate for support; since it was his idea.
"The Dragon Lord would have hunted you down and killed you anyways, since you knew too much. He goes back on his words regularly. You cannot trust him. He is the monster who made us believe that the knights were the bad people for centuries," Tyrone replied, his voice full of hurt and anger.
It took some convincing on Taylor's part to get the teens to leave with him.
"Do you think he'll help us," Trinity asked her mate,as they saw them leave. Taylor had told them that he'd call as soon as his army was ready.
"He will. Ryphonsus killed his father, so he'll help to take his own revenge."
