Tyrone held her tightly in his arms, her face buried in his chest. Dorin, her mother, had only been protective of 'them', Triyast and Trinity. Her seeking out her father had lead to his demise, making her a witch, letting her gain her witches power.
Why didn't she just listen to her mother and lived her life like this? Why didn't her mother tell her everything before? Why?
"Rin, I'm sorry honey; I should have told you before, but..." Tears were rolling down the blue eyed woman's cheeks.
"No mom, I'm sorry... I never thought about asking you why you suddenly left dad. It's all my fault."
There was a torrent of emotions flowing in the air. Finally Trinity realized why her mother had been so... controlling of her. She was trying to protect the man who was her first love, and his last desendant. She did everything she could to keep him alive, by keeping the father and daughter separated, but fate had other plans, and against all odds, they met; and disaster struck.
The dining area was empty. Everyone, except Tyrone, Trinity and Dorin remained. Sensing the tension between the mother daughter duo, they decided to give them privacy, although everyone could hear every word that was exchanged between them. They didn't need super hearing, as both women were screaming at each other.
Most of them had taken their plates to the sofa, and continued eating, while some decided to wait. No one said a word. The guests had suspected that Trinity had a strained relationship with her mother, the way she ran outof the house the other day and how she had demanded Dorin to say qhat she wanted in front of them, but to this extent? It was hard to believe that the simple girl who loved everybody, young or old, would hide such pain inside her heart.
As the tensed air settled and the smoke of pain slowly subsided, Patrick returned by his wife's side, patting her shoulder. "You OK?"
She nodded in response.
One by one, everyone returned, the twins,Stacey and Derek with empty plates while Martha and Dr Elise empty handed. No one spoke about was just transpired between two people in the kitchen.
Breakfast passed by in an awful silence, with just Martha, Dr Elise, Patrick, Tyrone, Trinity and Dorin at the table. Emeralda, Esmarald, Stacey and Derek were now lounging on the sofa again, not wanting to stare at the people eating.
"So... do you guys sing and dance?" Derek asked them, wanting to lighten the stiffness between them. All three dragons looked at him.
"Sing and dance?" Stacey asked, her eyebrow raised.
"Yeah... you know... la...la..la...la, oo woo hooo oo oo," he hummed, moving his body in a dance motion.
"We know what singing and dancing is, just like... why do you ask?" Esmarald asked, smiling, as the boy blushed.
"Well, I wanted to make a video of me dancing with you guys, and upload it on Tuneup2u."
"Tune up...what? Emeralda asked.
"Tuneup2u. It's a site where you can excess old hit songs and turn it into your own song by singing and editing it. It's fun... and I have so many followers," the blue eyed boy replied.
"Oh, yeah...I've seen it with Martha... you sing and dance and wear costumes, and Trinity would come in between and try to ruin it..." Stacey said, smiling.
"Yeah that's right. Would you do that with me? Pllleeeaaaasssseeee...!"
"Oh, we're so sorry, but we cannot..." "Oh hush Em. This could be fun!"
"I heard someone say 'fun'" Tyrone said entering the living room.
"Derek wants to dance and upload that video online, and Jack thinks it'll be fun," came the complain of a sister against her brother.
I don't think it's a good idea..." "Oh come on Ty! Stop being so mean to a kid."
"You know, we have to prepare for... tonight," Tyrone said, not wanting to say anything that might scare his future brother-in-law.
Half an hour later, the twins, their cousin, Stacey and Derek were singing and dancing away to some song that only Derek had heard of, and they laughed at words they didn't understand or sounded funny. The others, hearing the commotion in the living room, stood watching, half hidden so that the youngsters wouldn't get distracted or feel embarrassed. It might be their last time to engage with a human and enjoy its company, as no one really knows the true outcome of the war that would be knocking on their doorstep any time now.
Trinity walked in, holding a plate full of wonton and placed it in front of the group after they had settled down, laughing at some song. "Wow, what's this?" Stacey asked, picking up the white, ball-like thing, staring at it in amazement. It looked soft, and wet, and there was some kind of sauce accompanying them, in a separate dish.
Derek and Trinity looked at each other, than back at the dragons. They all had the same question written all over their faces.
"They're called 'wonton'," Trinity said. She had almost forgotten that these were not humans, but dragons who were born and brought up in a castle, far from humans. This was the first time all of them, except Tyrone had come into contact with the human world.
"Wonton... nice." She was about to eat it when Trinity stopped her.
"Stacey, dip it in this sauce, before eating it... it'll be delicious." She demonstrated by picking up one wonton, dipping it in the sauce and putting the entire thing in her mouth. "Mmmmmmm."
The rest of the break went well with jokes and laughter. In the midst of all the fun, Stacey remembered her life. This was the most fun she'd have in a long time...
A little seven year old girl ran in the direction of a group of children, around her age. As she neared them, they turned and one of them mocked her, "oh look, here comes princess Stacey!" The others laughed, and one of them threw a bottle of water on her, saying ironically, "oh no, forgive me." before pouring more water, while the other children laughed.
She had been born in the lowest class of dragons, her mother being an entertainer for the other male dragons, and her father was never in the picture. She was more of a rag for the others, and after her mother died, she went to live in the castle as a maid. She was never educated and never knew what love was. The only dragon who ever stood up for her; her bestest of best friend; the girl who was more like family to her... was dead. Masey took her own life to spare her from making this decision, so that Stacey didn't regret it.
It was from that win that she was recognized as a someone in the dragon community, and then Trinity entered into her life, making it bearable. She never thought of her as anyone less then her, and after coming here Stacey was sure she would have always loved her even if she had known her story. Her status as nothing but a maid. Her status as a dragon with no father. Her status as a daughter of a low life entertainer...
She was even more thankful to Trinity for not asking her any questions about her past, as she felt really uncomfortable talking about it.
"Stacey, you OK?" Trinity asked, pulling her out of her dream.
"Better then I ever was," came the reply.
