CHAPTER 47

"Mother," she said, as she collapsed in a pool of her own blood.

Before the humongous black monster could devour his kill, a strange wind blew in the cave, as out of thin air, a woman in a long black gown, with puff sleeves that reached her wrist, appeared.

Her eyes searched for someone, as it roamed around the cave frantically, until it fell on a body laying on the floor, covered in blood. Her horror stiken face went pale, as she ran to her only child. Kneeling on the floor, she picked her head and put it in her lap, silent tears fell from her enraged eyes. "Who did this?" She asked, her voice calm and without emotion; or at least she was good in hiding hers.

There was something about her aura that made the dragon fall far into the corner of the cave. For the first time he felt afraid. This was no ordinary woman.

"I asked, who is responsible for this," The woman exclaimed, her eyes searching the cave, until it landed on the dark form of a dragon. Standing up, she pointed a shaking finger to the form, and said, "You! Come out into the open where I can see you."

Slithering out of the corner, the massive flying lizard came into the light,it's black scales shining like diamonds. He was a little mad that he couldn't have his lunch.

"Did you do this?" The grieving mother pointed a shaking finger, first at the beast, than at the girl lying at her feet.

"Well, she was supposed to be my lunch, until you showed up," Ryphonsus replied, sounding bored.

"A dragon is supposed to be a wise beast, helping people and guiding them to the right path... but you? You kill innocent people just like that? Why?" Tears were streaming down her cheeks, as she stared at the dragon in front of her, right in the eye, with no fear in them. This was the first time this happened, as everyone else would shake in fear at the mere sight of him.

"She's just a child, who barely lived her life, what did she do to make you kill her without a second thought? Why? WHY?" her voice reverberated throughout the cave, anger and hurt evident it her hoarse sound. "No! You're no dragon. I, Alexandra Witch, curse you, Ryphonsus Dragon, to roam earth as a human. You and all of your kind shall become humans. Only then will you learn your lesson," as she spoke, a smoke surrounded the mighty dragon and with a puff, standing there was a human, but still she continued; "My child will raise from the blood you spilt, and take her revenge upon you, and all who stand with you." She bent down and picking up the blood with her cupped palms, said "you owe Me your life, you shall rise again, born with the power of a witch, and the strength of a dragon, you will avenge yourself. With all elements of nature, I Alexandra bid you to raise, and when the time comes, this creature shall die from your hands." Saying this, the witch and the dragons 'lunch' disappeared.

"Remembered anything yet?" Trinity's voice cut through the train of thoughts the Dragon Lord was having. "You have spilt enough innocent blood. Now, it's time for the earth to taste yours."

With this words, Trinity mumbled something and a gust of wind hit the dragon's wings, clipping it shut. Before he understood anything, he was falling. Right before touching the ground, he rose, like someone was pulling him up.

"Ok, I'll make your deal!" The girls voice grew nearer. "I'll make your death quick and painless."

The Dragon Lord froze upon hearing those words. Trinity could see the terror in his eyes, like he had seen a ghost.

"I think I will give you a fighting chance; a chance you never gave me!" Gone was the hold on the dragons wings, and before him was an orange dragon. "I Trinity Grove, daughter of Triyast Grove, challenge you, Ryphonsus Dragon, to a fight till death. Do you accept my challenge?" Dragonia said, load enough for everyone to hear. She was so loud, not only the dragons, but the knights also heard her.

Before the black dragon could say anything, they heard a loud chant coming from the porch of the house below them, "Fight! Fight! Fight!"

Everyone was out of the house. This was the moment they had been waiting for. The countdown to the biggest fight in history.

For the first time in his life, the mighty dragon Ryphonsus was in a dilemma. Knowing who the dragon in front of him was, he knew he had little chance at winning. According to Alexandra's curse, this orange dragon is his death. On the other hand, if he said no to the challenge thrown in front of him, his fellow dragons would take him filer a coward. His reputation would be tarnished and he'd become nothing more than a joke of a dragon. What can he do?

"Afraid of a girl?"

This fiery dragon was now taunting him. The girl he though of as nothing more than a weak halfling was now stronger then him.

His thoughts went back on the time he conquered the magic lands of the magicians...

"What you are doing is wrong! I will never serve you, even when I die!" The king of all magical beings said.

Ryphonsus was there, in a large room with a throne, a long sharp sword in his hand, and kneeling at his feet was the so called king magician, who's name was hidden from the world.

"We have all heard of the prophecy, a child will be born..." "Yeah yeah yeah... I've heard it a million times. He will never be able to kill me. I'll kill him before he is born... and since you won't help me locate him, I have no use for you." With that, the sword swung, and in the air flew a head, falling with a thud at the feet of a child, at most nine years of age. He could barely breath, tears rolling down his cheeks. His attire told the Dragon Lord that he was the prince.

"Come here little one," his voice boomed, and like some invisible thread pulling him, the young boy moved toward the man, now sitting on what was supposed to be his father's throne.

"Tell me boy, what is on your mind?"

Gulping a few times, the child asked, his voice shaking, "What if the person in the prophecy is a girl?"

The Dragon Lord laughed so hard, the entire castle shook. The boy shook in fear, readying himself for death.

"You know what kid, I'll let you live, but under one condition; you must serve me till the end of your life! Do you pledge your loyalty to me?"

The boy, looking at his father's body lying there, in a pool of blood, thought about avenging his death, but he wouldn't be able to if he himself died. He nodded his head frantically.

"You must say the words!"

"I, Marcus, pledge my loyalty to you, oh Dragon Lord." Saying this the boy bowed low, secretly promising to avenge his people and reclaim the throne that was now rightfully his. He was now the last remaining magician, and he will see this dragon fall before he himself dies.
