"Guess who got asked out by Will Hunter?" My friend Lane sits across from me at our table during lunch

"Sam Dooley?" We look over at the weird kid Sam in the corner eating his boogers "God help that boy" we turn back to each other "but no! He asked me out! Finally!" "But what about August?"

"August is history Kyle keep up!"

Lane and August dated for 8 months, during those 8 months I'm pretty sure I liked August more than Lane did. I've liked August since the moment we expressed our interest in music, movies, and so much more. Lane on the other hand only dated August because he's hot. I've been trying to keep how I feel about August intact because I know I could never do that to Lane, but sometimes it's hard to watch the boy you're supposed to be with and know you can't because that's your best friend's ex.
