The already written destiny (2)

In the royal palace, they will be introduced to the respective guild that drafted them. From that point, the guild will take care of them, first, they will train them. They also would provide shelter, food, and clothing for all of them for free for the first month. Eventually, it was called the Tutorial period. After the tutorial period, every Earthling must feed themselves.

The man in robe spoke as he pointed towards the dark sky that can be seen through the window.

"Your destiny might be darker than the night but always remember, in every dark tunnel there are always light at the end of a road. So don't stop. After the tutorial, There won't be anyone who will feed your ass. But I'm sure you lot are more than capable of, other than becoming a walking meatshield for your guild."

Perhaps realizing that he was making a joke, some of the rookie Earthlings began chuckling in response.

"Well, just think that nothing will happen anyway. We even prepared a banquet for your debut. All you have to do is to wait for those coming to fetch you. After that, sign a contract in your guild.

A man in robe then pulled out a packet of cigarettes from his pocket as if he was done with his speech, before opening his mouth again.

"Oh fuck! I haven't introduced myself did I? Just called me Philip then. I am the head Priest"

He momentarily stopped talking in order to pull a cigarette out with his teeth, then continued on with a surprisingly serious tone of voice.

"I'm advising you to trust no one. Oh? I'm sorry, perhaps the only you can trust is your gold. Remember, there's only one rule in this world; BE STRONGER AND SURVIVE"

He lit the cigarette up, inhaled deeply, and a little while later, let the white smoke ease out from his nostrils and open lips.

After they were finished with the dinner, each person was lead to their district where their guild is located."

Everyone had exchange their good lucks. Perhaps, this would only be the beginning.

*****

The palace suddenly fell into deep silence once the banquet was over.

Von was not the only one who was not chosen to be part of any guild.

The Palace administrator told them that there still be a place for those who were not chosen. For now, they were allowed to stay in this place until their destination was finally decided.

Finally, outside.

Where was this? Von sighed and turned his gaze towards the sky.

Mountain ranges filled this land. Peaks were tall enough to touch the sky with visual phenomena circling him. Waterfalls poured down from above.

Unfamiliar birds roaming in the sky.

What was that?

It was hanging pretty low in the sky, but it couldn't have been the sun. It was too big to be a star as well and besides, it had already begun to wane.

"It's the moon."

As Von stare blankly at the moon, the question of why this is happening comes to his mind. It's an unusual situation no matter what he think. Did he commit a crime that he could be made to do this without knowing it?

Von look up at the night sky and see a huge unnamed planet and the moon. It's an unusual situation. It's crazy to think about it.

A different world, this is a different world, right? At least it's not Earth. If he's also the protagonist of the otherworldly transfer thing… that doesn't make his heart beat faster, either. It's just sad that he have to survive alone and lonely.

Von don't dislike novels that take place in another world. It's soothing to forget reality and immerse yourself in the world of the story. While you're enjoying it, you can forget about all the bad things and painful things. He don't know if he have that feeling either, but that's not the case.

"I have to survive."

This territory belonged to Estheros, the capital district of Caiden Kingdom.. The whole place was covered by a huge and thick wall approximately fifty meters in height. Looking at those walls resembles the Great Wall of China in his previous world.

Von couldn't take his eye off the great wall. Unlike the great wall of China, the wall standing in district seems to be covered by a transparent barrier. Yes, because it was embedded by protective magic.

Dungeon was the reason for the creation of the great wall. Dungeons are literally nest of monsters. It's existence and origin was unknown and it was popping out randomly within the Kingdom.

The Kingdom was too broad to be guarded in its entirety. To account for this, The Great Wall was built and the Kingdom was later on divided into five towns on their periphery known as districts. When Dungeon gates appeared inside the wall, hunters could focus its defenses on these districts and repel the monsters more effectively.

Now he's alone in an old messy house. To his horror, no food was available.

"So this was the place for the rejected earthling?"

With an empty stomach, he gave up and just lie down on the bed made from a straw while looking up at the unfamiliar ceiling which has been stained with the traces of the rain leaks.

A moment later, he fell asleep.

It was the first time Von had slept without a warm blanket and a bed filled with comfortable cotton. His poor back had suffered. He'd woken up stiff, in pain, and miserable. It wasn't easy to adapt to a poor man's life. He unconsciously squeezed his pocket in an attempt to look for his iPhone. Afterward, it only resulted in disappointment.

Von's POV

—So it wasn't a dream huh? Ouch, my back hurts.

—No cigarettes for me as well.

—How can I survive this life. I need more information about this world.

There was no way to describe the feeling of transmigrating into different world. It was a mixed of emotions flowing into him.

He rummaged around the room for some paper, then wrote 'Tips for Surviving Transmigration' at the top of a blank page.

His mind began dredging up various bits of information from the many webnovels, novels and movies he had enjoyed in the past life, but it didn't take long for him to drift off into fantasies about having a computer, the sensations of using Social media on his iPhone, the joy of trolling the hell out of his students in his University.
