Sheila's Pov.
I packed two suitcases full of my clothes and belongings and then changed clothes to a comfy two-piece set in black and a pair of Nike shoes. I put up my hair in a bun and then took my Chanel sunglasses and put them on my head before leaving my bedroom.
I left a message for my housekeeper and some money on the kitchen counter before I rushed out of the apartment. We made our way to the garage, and Ricky tried to convince me to let him drive the car. But I did not have it this time either. He was sulking like a little boy in response.
We got to the garage unit and went up to my black SUV and loaded our suitcases into the trunk, and then we got into the front seats. I didn't give your brother details when I was talking to him earlier. I told him that something had happened and that I would bring you home to Russia."
Ricky fumbled with his phone while he spoke. "Yeah. It's probably for the best to not give him any details for now. He would go mad."
I replied, and then I cranked down the window and blipped my badge against the code reader to open the garage gate.
I drove through the gate and then aimed for the freeway. I turned on the radio and focused on the road in front of me.
I occasionally looked into the rearview mirror, and soon I noticed a dark blue BMW driving behind us. Something about the car struck me as familiar.
I soon realized that a similar car had been parked outside the apartment building for the past weeks.
"Ricky. I think Zion's men are driving in the BMW behind us. I noticed that a similar car had been parked outside the apartment for the past few weeks. What are we going to do? They cannot know that we are leaving the states. They never saw that we packed our luggage in the garage. "Ricky looked over his shoulder and took note of the car before answering. "Keep driving. We'll see how long they drive after. Take the next exit and approach and then drive like that for a few times and see if we can get some distance from them." I nodded and did as he said. After thirty minutes, we noticed that they still trailed us from behind. I started to get a little worried. I had heard my phone vibrating for a few minutes and told Ricky to see who it was. "It's Zion; he has called a few times and left a few messages." Fuck. "Can you see what he has texted me?" I said with a worried tone. "Shit, Sheila. He knows something is up."
Ricky sighed and slammed his head against the headrest.
"What do we do? Should I try to shake them off?"
I began to accelerate at a higher speed, then I drove the car to the outer lane and began to re-drive the vehicles on the inner roads at high speed. Ricky glanced over his shoulder from time to time. Now they knew something was up.
"They know now, Ricky. What should we do?" I took a few deep breaths to keep my calm behind the steering wheel.
Ricky looked down on my phone the entire time with a severe look on his face. "What's up, Ricky? What does he say?"
I tried to get his attention by waving one hand in front of his face. "Hell woman. Eyes on the road. Jesus."
Ricky shouted in a stressful way and kept his eyes on my phone.
I rolled my eyes at his reply and kept driving. We were getting closer to the private airport, where a plane stood, ready for take-off. I was getting anxious, seeing that the car was still trailing us from behind, back in the lane. Fuck. Why did I get involved with a possessive psychopath in the first place? I am fucked up as well; that's probably why. God, I am stupid. You have to drive all the way to the plane, and then we have to take our luggage directly and jump on the plane quickly. I will let the pilot know this is an emergency. Keep getting more distance so we can win more time." Ricky took his phone and then made the call. He began shouting in Russian after a few seconds. He told the pilot that this was an emergency and that we needed to take off as soon as we got on the plane. No delays.
I felt my hands shake over the steering wheel when I depressed the accelerator and was soon up to 210 k / h. My only focus now was to gain more distance between our cars. We needed to get on board the plane without anyone interfering. I knew Zion had been written something that made Ricky nervous in the text message has been received...
I saw him fumbling with the phone and sitting and twist his body all over the seat while the phone vibrated nonstop in his hand.
I braked the car a little so that we would not miss the exit to the airport. I turned off and quickly accelerated up again to try to shake them off once more.
I drove like a crazy person and made overtaking on every single car we ended up behind in the lane. I saw the sign into the airport and accelerated at full speed, and then made a hard deceleration next to the plane.
I opened the trunk before we rushed to the back of the car and tore our luggage out, and then we ran towards the plane. "Are you going out and traveling, Sheila?"
Zion's Pov
"How the fuck are we supposed to cover up a loss of fifty million dollars?" Joe utters angrily as he sips on a beer. "I will fix that, don't worry. This can be a good thing." "How can this be a good thing? Those Russians will kill us all," Joe replied and glared at me. I looked around us in my office to make sure no one could hear us, "Because I am fucking Vladi's sister, Joe, and I will use her to get to him." Joe gasp for air, "That's the one I been picking you up from?" "Yes, and now with the loss of the coke… "The Russians will be here within days, and we can negotiate or take them out," Joe continues. "There will be no negotiations; I will take them out, one by one," I replied, annoyed. "What about the sister?" Joe asks, a little startled, "I will get her money, then I will probably kill her. She's good for hundreds of millions. I looked her up, and she inherited a lot of money from her husband's death." I answered and shrugged my shoulders. I looked through my messages, hoping Sheila had gotten back to me, but no. I was still ghosted, which was not good at all. I saw Paul's number appear on the screen, and I knew something was up. "Yes?" "Boss. She's on the move, and we are tracking them as we speak." Said Paul and I had a bad feeling, "Where are they heading at," "They are on the highway, 111," Fuck! "Thanks, Paul. Stay on them. They are heading towards Farmingdale Airport. I will meet you there; have your gun loaded and ready," I hung up the call, and Joe looked at me confused. "It looks like my plan is about to leave the country. I need to get her. Paul will meet me at the airport; stay put!" I ordered and quickly headed outside to get the car, and I began to drive like a maniac towards the airport, determined that stop her from leaving me at any cause.
Sheila's Pov.
"Are you going out and traveling, Sheila?" I stopped myself when I was about to crash into Zion as he stood in front of the stairs leading up to the plane. He had a massive grin on his lips, but his eyes were cold. "How did you get here before us?"
That was the only thing I managed to say before I heard a gunshot was fired from behind. I jumped at the sound and quickly turned around. A thousand thoughts ran through my mind before I screamed out loudly and panicked when Ricky fell to the ground. The second I was about to run to him, I felt Zion grab my waist with his hands, and then he turned on me and threw me over his shoulder.
"Let me go, you idiot." I was growling, and I hit him with my fists at his back all I could while he walked away from the plane. I glanced up and saw that Ricky was still lying on the ground, lifeless.
"We need to leave now."
Zion shouted, and two men joined in behind us. One of them put a gun back in his waistband, and I managed to get a quick look at his face before Zion threw me into the trunk of his car and closed it.
I started to kick and bang all I could, screaming for him to open it again, but the car starts up, and then I felt it moving.
The image of Ricky on the ground was frozen in my mind, and I felt tears burning in my eyes. This is it.
I am kidnapped by a psychopath, and Ricky, was killed, and it was all my fault.
