After mentioning the Project Reminiscence, I've been asked multiple times regarding it. I have no idea why they keep asking me about it. I thought they already know what that is. Project Reminiscence told me to come here without telling what should I do here.
Supposedly, they should be the ones helping me with my task yet I've been interrogated non-stop. I shouldn't have mentioned the Project Reminiscence to Officer Greffin. I should be wary about it and keep it a secret. They have already asked me quite a several questions which I answer honestly. Yet, they seemed unsatisfied. Maybe because I keep answering the same thing.
"I don't know."
They said that I should spill everything I know about that organization. If only I knew, I would have done that from the start.
But what can I do?
I really don't know.
"The longer you keep the truth, the longer you stay here," Officer Harrison said. "Let's just continue this tomorrow!"
With that, four men escorted me towards my room. As we head there, I then remembered Officer Greffin. I was told he will be in jail because of suspicion of him being my accomplice.
Why does every time someone gets near me get punished?
Sir Onyx, those two delivery men, and now Officer Greffin. They get punished because of me despite doing nothing.
Maybe I should avoid people from now on.
As my thought sulk deeper, a familiar voice called me.
"Izac, how did you know that?"
Officer Greffin?
He was locked inside the room next to mine. I feel bad for causing him trouble. At least I could give a response to his question even though I couldn't fully answer it.
"Officers, can I talk to him?" I asked the guards I'm with.
The guard responded with a 'no'. With that, we continue to head towards my room and locked me inside. From this point, I no longer can do anything to help myself. Using my abilities is out of the question.
How can I use it when I know that there are probably millions of people in this empire?
I really don't know what to do.
An alarm disturbs the silence of the area.
Did something happen?
Since I can't clearly hear anything outside, I should just ignore it. I continue sulking and tried to think happy thoughts since there was no way I can escape from this confinement.
Come to think of it, this is much better than being a slave back in the day. It was cold and sometimes there was no food. Here, I get three meals a day, I have a comfy bed, and people don't order me around. However, they keep asking me about things that I have no idea what.
This is nice.
I never felt such peace around people despite being accused of as a terrorist.
LUB DUB!!!
What is this?
LUB DUB!!!
What is this sinister feeling?
LUB DUB!!!! LUB DUB!!!!
I feel…
LUB DUB!!!!
I can sense an intent to kill.
Something's wrong. Something bad will happen!
BANG!
I heard a loud sound from the outside.
I can sense blood. I can sense death.
What is happening outside?
A masked man in a black coat and with black gloves suddenly appeared and walk towards the door.
Who is he?
The door suddenly burst open and he quickly grabs me and tied me with a rope and carried me on his shoulders. He covered both my eyes and mouth as he took me away from my room.
He may have covered my eyes but I can clearly sense my surrounding. I sense that there is a dead body that we just passed by.
"STOP!"
I heard the voice of Officer Greffin again. I then felt the man stop from walking and went near Officer Greffin's room. He then continued walking away.
As we headed outside the facility, I sensed several people around. Some are injured and some are dead. When my sense of sight is lost, my other senses spikes up. Sensing them through my other senses is much more terrifying than actually seeing them. I always get a picture of a sinister massacre.
I then sensed that we were already outside of the facility. He then stopped walking and I heard something opening. The man laid me down in what seemed to be a small container. Before he is about to close the cover of whatever container this is, he slips something inside my clothes.
"Listen carefully, kid. When Greffin retrieves you, hand him these things! Also, you must leave the empire before sunset tomorrow if you want to live. We'll help you escape through Roid City Emperial Gates."
He then closed the compartment. Everything is dark and I can't move. I then figured out that I'm in a vehicle when the engine started. My body keeps bumping on the walls of this container as the vehicle steers left and right. It was smooth sailing when something violent banged the side of the vehicle. The vehicle I'm in keeps getting hit by an unknown force from the outside. It keeps banging and banging until I was thrown forward because the car has crashed.
Ugh! That hurts.
What is happening?
Did someone catch us?
The compartment suddenly burst open. Someone untied me from the ropes and took the cover on my eyes and mouth. My eyes were still adjusting from the sudden introduction of light.
"Izac, are you alright?"
My ears were still adjusting after the loud crash from earlier.
"Who are you? What do you want from me?"
That's all I can do for now since I cannot run away from this person. I might trip or even fall since I'm still having trouble with my balance. I've been shivering from everything that just happened a moment ago.
"It's me! Cypher!"
Officer Greffin?
As I regained my senses, I later realize the owner of the familiar voice. I then have a clear view of my savior. It was Officer Greffin.
"Officer Greffin?"
I was glad to discover that it was Officer Greffin. I wasn't able to understand why but I am pleased to see him again.
"Yeah! For now, let's leave and seek shelter. We are no longer safe in this place."
He then helped me get out of the car when all of a sudden a loud bang was cast.
"Officer Greffin!"
I saw Officer Greffin get shot by the masked man.
"Izac, run!"
I was left shocked by the turn of events and frozen in place.
"Izac! Don't mind me! Run!"
I felt my body frozen still after seeing Officer Greffin's shoulder bleeding. I was scared yet I followed his instructions and run away. I didn't look back and just continue to run as fast as I can. I didn't stop until I've reached the place where I met Sir Onyx and have a chat with him. I gaze upon the massive building and then find a place where a lot of vehicles are parked. I run towards there and hid there. I cower in fear as I catch my breath.
Is Officer Greffin alright?
I peek over the vehicles hoping that Officer Greffin had followed. I hope he's alright.
As I cower in fear, a shiny object caught my gaze. I saw something shimmering inside a hole with metal railings. I moved closer to it and reached the object with my hand. It was a tugged necklace with red and blue gemstones.
How could someone drop something pretty like this?
I decided to put it in my pocket for later use. Maybe I could give this to Officer Greffin for compensation.
I was hoping Officer Greffin made it out. I really hope he's okay. I then heard someone calling.
"Izac? Where are you?".
I peek again over the cars and try looking for the person calling me. It took me a while to find the person calling me and I was relieved that Officer Cypher escapes from that man. However, he looks grievously injured. He looks like he had lost a lot of blood.
I must help him.
I unveiled my hiding spot and run towards him. It was surprisingly quiet in this place though. I wonder where the people and those metal things are? I shouldn't think about that at this hour. Officer Greffin needs my help.
I run towards him but he finally collapses.
If I don't do anything, he'll die.
But if I help him, he might…
What if he'll do something bad to me if ever he discovers my powers?
But it's the only way to save his life.
I need to do something! Officer Greffin is dying if I don't do anything.
I want to help him but something's holding me back.
Is it fear?
Doubts?
What will happen if I did help him?
The first time we met, I've already discerned that he is not a bad person. That is one of the reasons why I told him about the Project Reminiscence which I try hiding from the others. My intuition was yelling at me that I can trust him. My eyes don't lie to me when it sees pure and kind-hearted people.
For that reason, I took the risk and decided to help Officer Greffin.
Using my healing abilities needs comprehension but I was constantly using it and I'm slowly understanding how it works. Before arriving at Morr, when I was still in the forest, I keep using my healing abilities to every animal and plant I see that needed help. My borrowed healing abilities are stronger when my will to help is great.
As I emit healing energy into his body, it restored all injuries and wounds of Officer Greffin.
I then slowly drag his body even deeper to the alley to take cover. It will take a couple of minutes before he regains consciousness. I moved away from Officer Greffin to give him space.
The Glowing Tree told me that it is safe to use her power but why do I keep feeling weird every time I use it?
It feels like something within wants to escape. I waited to see if something occur but nothing happened. I was relieved. I was worried for nothing, however, I shouldn't let my guard down.
GASP!
It looks like Officer Greffin had finally recovered.
"I thought I was shot?" he said.
I then saw him check his shoulder and I saw a look of confusion on his face. I couldn't blame him for that.
Who wouldn't be surprised after a life-threatening injury suddenly vanished?
"Izac, what happened to my wounds?" he asked, still looking shocked.
"I…I took it away!"
I then look away. Healing him greatly exhausted me.
"Wha… what do you mean, 'took it away'?"
I didn't reply after that. I then realize that I've been running around with something inside my shirt. I just noticed it after sulking for over half an hour. I then remembered what that man had told me before closing the compartment of his car. I then handed Officer Greffin the papers and the small notebook.
"What is this?"
"Before the masked man hid me inside his vehicle, he gave this to me and told me to give it to you after."
I understand the bafflement he feels. I also do not understand what's happening. I always thought that Officer Greffin has something to do with this. Yet, I realize that he wasn't.
"Izac, did that man told you anything more?"
"He said to leave the empire before sunset tomorrow or else we will never get out of this place anymore. He also said that our escape is already planned and we just need to go at Roid City Emperial Gates."
"Izac, is he an accomplice of yours? Is he part of the Project Reminiscence?"
"I do not know. I have no idea why is this happening to me."
"Izac, I have a lot of questions I wanted to ask you but it can wait for another day. For now, we need to leave the empire! However, we must not follow that man's instruction."
I didn't show any complaints from his words.
"He had murdered many people and if we follow his instructions, there might be a group of people waiting for us at Roid. We must take a detour and run away. From this point, no one will help us. We are both vigilantes now and if we're caught, we will be imprisoned. I don't want to get lockup, not today, not with this kind of situation. Is that alright for you, Izac?"
I still have doubts about him but I feel like I should trust him, for now. I then slightly nodded in agreement.
"Based on my judgment, the place I would never go as an escape route is at Chine City. People chasing us would exclude that place as an escape route since it's packed with droids after being suspected as Caleb's infiltration route. But, it will be difficult if we use that route."
I saw Officer Greffin pacing.
"Caleb's infiltration route?" Agent Greffin mumbled. "That's it!"
I think he's thinking of another plan or something. I then saw him open the papers I handed him earlier.
I saw a shocked expression and disbelief on his face. I guess he discovered something he didn't know from those papers. I continue to gaze at him and saw the change of expressions.
I wonder what is written inside of that papers.
He then flips pages to pages as he continues to read.
I then noticed the sudden trembling of his arms after flipping a page. I guess something scary is on that page or something.
He keeps flipping the pages until he grabbed the journal and read it.
I saw him close the journal after a couple of minutes. I was a bit surprised when he weeps in sorrow. I sense intense grief succumbing to his heart.
Because of that, I was a bit worried.
"Officer Greffin? Are you alright?"
He gazes at me with pain. I don't know what he just read but I know it must be something horrifying or something else that caused him great sorrow.
"Izac, do you know why I'm doing all of this? I want to avenge my wife. I don't care if I go to prison as long as I achieve the justice my late wife deserves. And with your help, I would achieve that."
So, Officer Greffin lost someone dear too?
He's just like me. I can totally feel how painful it is. I understand how unbearable it is.
He then grabs both of my shoulders and sat on his heels.
"Would you help me find justice?"
I was a bit hesitant about his request but I've already caused too much damage to him. I've brought this to him. I think it would be enough for him to forgive me for causing such a problem if I help. I secretly use my ability of perception to see if his intentions are true. After that, I am convinced.
"You've already proven to me that you are not a bad person, Officer. I can see how pure and clean your life force is. I will help you."
Officer Greffin suddenly hugged me. I was perplexed about the feeling I just felt.
What is this feeling?
Why do I feel at ease?
It is something I've never felt for so long.
Comfort.
"Thank you so much. I will assure you I'll protect you and get you to safety. For now, we go to Chine City.
A piece of folded paper suddenly fell out from the folder as Officer Greffin grab it.
"I think this is yours," he said after unfolding the paper and then handing it to me.
I felt at ease after knowing that it was my map.
"Izac, can I ask you? What is your connection with this Project Reminiscence?"
"I do not know. All they ever told me was to go to the places they told me to go. And if I manage to reach the meet-up point, they will help me find the things I'm looking for. They also said that they will try to find me after the countdown reaches zero."
"A timer? Do you remember how long will it take for it to reach zero?"
"As of now, I can't remember how many days are left but the timer started with 364 days or something close to that."
"So, they look for you after a year. If what you said is true, does this mean, that masked man works for somebody else?"
A loud siren resounded over the area which disrupts our conversation. It looks like they knew was here in this area.
"We should save this topic when we get out of here. For now, we'll escape and then try to figure everything out once we know we're safe."
As I watch him sneaking peeking at the end of the alley, something emerges again.
LUB! DUB!
I felt my feet numbing. I fell on my knees as I cover my ears in terror.
LUB! DUB!
I felt my whole body stiffen with pain. I can't move.
It hurt!
My whole body hurts. It feels like my bones are breaking from an intense weight. The pain is driving me crazy.
LUB! DUB!
I felt an extreme force building up underneath, waiting for me to unleash it.
I must suppress it.
I must not feel it.
I must control it.
I shrank in pain as I forced myself to endure everything for the safety of everyone.
LUB! DUB!
My whole body is trembling.
It hurts!
Please, someone, help me!
I can't endure this anymore.
I sobbed in torment.
I can no longer suppress it.
AHHH!
No matter how hard I try, I was unable to suppress it. A powerful earthquake was generated. Despite releasing the energy, my body hurt so bad like it was killing me. I heard voices of distress all around. Their intense fear of the situation clouded my mind.
Ugh! It hurts!
I can't breathe!
Help!
It took a while when it finally stops. I was still on the ground, all numb.
I pant heavily as I catch my breath.
I slowly pushed up my body and reclined on the garbage dump beside me. I continue panting when Agent Greffin said something.
"I.. Izac… wh…what are you?"
