Beyond limits

Celine looked around the beach confused. She saw few people at the beach, some were walking close to the water feeling the coldness of it and the breeze. Others sat down chatting. Distant music could be heard in the background.

She sat down on the sand, facing the ocean. The golden sand lived peacefully along side the majestic deep blue ocean. She looked up at the sky which seemed like a long shimmery blue blanket with fluffy white clouds on it.

Dazzling sunlight made the sand sparkle like a thousand jewels with seashells on it. She turned to the ocean, looking at the waves which were crashing against the shore with seagulls screeching as if a toddler was crying with a closed mouth.

Salty air was blowing in a peaceful manner. She brushed her fingers through the glittery sand, it felt relaxing and gentle. She loved the peaceful serenity and humming of birds, it was like music to her ears.

She looked at the people again, wondering if her sister was among them. The seer had told her Dior is coming to the beach so she need to wait for her. But, with the look of things she wasn't anywhere close by. The magic between them was far.

She saw children running around, she sigh deeply and wondered if this kind of world truly exist or if she was imagining. She looked at the sky again, the flying birds made it more busy than before.

"She won't come." The seer said, suddenly.

She looked at him and sigh gently.

"I never knew you came." She said.

"I have been around watching you. I know you are waiting for her. But, she refused to come. And she has done something unforgiving." He said.

"She can do whatever she wants, I don't care. All I want to do is take her home and nothing else." She resorted.

"You have more to do than that. You are the only one who can save the kingdom now." He replied.

She curled her lips.

"Save the kingdom?" She asked rhetorically and smiled.

"Why? How is that possible? Dior is what the kingdom needs not me. My parents are eager to meet her as well, they have been worried since she left." She corrected.

"No, it's your destiny to save the creatures. Your sister have chosen the path of doom already, you are the only one who can solve the puzzle and quench the fire." He explained.

"I don't want to. It's none of my business." She retaliated.

The seer wasn't surprised, he thought as much. How can she save the people that hate her? Her parents aren't excluded. Such a mess.

"Won't you forgive them?" He asked.

She scoffed.

"Why should I?"

"They are still your people. It is still your kingdom." He said.

"Well, I have made up my mind. When I return home with Dior, I will marry the monster prince." She blurted out.

"Then he won't destroy the kingdom. I will do everything he wants for the rest of my life. I'm used to living a life of torture anyway." She added.

"The war won't come from outside, it's already inside. Please forgive them." He pleaded.

Silence erupt on, as she refused to reply him. She wasn't interested in being a super woman. She can't even bring herself to do it, not after everything she passed through.

"My time is up." He said, breaking the silence.

"Okay." She replied.

"Won't you send a message to your parents?" He teased.

"Why? Go and ask Dior. This is the wrong person." She replied.

He smiled.

"I can't speak with her again, she break the rule and eliminate the boundary." He said.

"Good for you then." She said.

"Take care." He said, as he disappeared slowly.

"I will." She said and turned to him.

He disappeared completely, leaving sparkles behind. Celine sigh deeply. How could she forgive them so easily? She was always depressed because of those people she called hers. Her life was a mess. A total mess.

Holding on tight to her book, she got up. She walked in the direction of the people. Some people stared at her, wondering where she came from while others admired her beauty. She wasn't dressed like someone who came to have fun unlike the ladies who were putting on bikini.

She was putting on a pant and a shirt. As she walked, the cool breeze kept blowing her, putting her hair in disarray. She walked slowly, as if looking for someone. Well of course she was, a lady saw her last night when she came. She already sensed her here. The only way to keep her secret is to either kill her or befriend her.

But it seem the latter will win because she needs help in this strange world. She released some sparkles on her palms, it was shiny silver coloured. If it sensed the woman, its colour changed. She walked for a little while before halting, the colour had changed and the sparkles blew towards a direction.

She followed it. There and behold, the lady was hiding behind a tree, praying not to be seen. It's as if she had seen her first. Celine tapped her shoulder and she jerked. She turned to her and screamed. But Celine was faster, she suspected it. She read her mind already.

Before the lady could shout, she covered the atmosphere around them with magic. Making the noise inaudible.

"Stop wasting your time." She warned.

The lady shivers as she looked at her. She knew who she was. She's a mermaid, she thought.

"Don't think too much. It doesn't suit you." She added.

"Please spare me, I have a little child." The lady said, fidgeting.

"I know." Celine replied.

"I need your help. You are the only one I can trust now. You know my secret but I need to spare you because I need something in return." She added.

"I don't have anything. Please, spare me." She pleaded.

"You have a place to stay, don't you?" Celine asked.

She nodded. She don't want to make a little mistake and end up being caught.

"Okay. I want to stay with you." Celine blurted out.

"Me? It's a small place." She replied.

"I know but I will still stay. I'm here to get my sister so I need a place to relax at night." Celine explained.

"Okay." She agreed without hesitation.

"Can we go there? These people are staring at me intensely and I don't like it." Celine complained. She looked at the people around, killing them will be her next option if they continued like this.

"Yes, let's go." She said.

"By the way, what's your name?" She asked.

"I'm Celine." Celine answered.

"Celine? That's a strange name, I have never heard of it before." She commented.

"Just call me that. What's yours?" Celine inquired.

"I'm Jelly." She replied.

Celine sigh deeply. Is it a coincidence? Everyone she cherished are J. In the kingdom, Julia. Now in this world, Jelly. How is that possible? She looked at her and sigh.

"Should we leave now?" Jelly asked. They have been staring at each other silently.

"Yes, of course." Celine replied.

She wondered what she saw in her. She had a glimpse of Jelly's past and some parts of it aren't clear enough to understand. Did she kill someone? They looked alike. A child is crying and a man is outside barging the door. She....

"Aren't you coming?" Jelly asked, interrupting her thoughts.

She jerked back and realized Jelly was few distance away from her. She has been thinking of something not important. She walked towards her and smiled.

"Just thinking of where to find my sister." Celine lied.

"I know. It might be difficult but you will see her soon." Jelly reassured.

"Yes." Celine said and smiled.

She has no business with this lady's past or future, she just need to find her sister and that's what she will do. She sigh gently and followed her behind quietly.

"Before I forget, I live in Tottenham. I don't know where your sister might be, London is very big. How will you look for her?" Jelly asked.

"Somehow." Celine replied. She don't feel like talking about her sister now.

"Okay." Jelly replied. As if she understands her, she didn't ask another question. They walked away in silence.

Celine thought of her time in this world, how would it be like? Will she be able to make it? Will she find Dior? She kept seeing death in front of her. It's like one of them must die for the other to survive.

The seer never told her anything about killing each other or even causing danger to one another. She thought about her journey here, it was fast and smooth. He had given her the pearl in the castle, she tied it around her neck like a necklace. She wouldn't afford to lose it.

She swim to the beam of the sea with the seer. She became scared, she could hear her heart beating loudly.

"I know you are angry. Please, don't listen to the king's words." The seer advised.

"I never listened." She reminded.

"It's obvious. Just keep ignoring them, I like your courage." He praised.

"Please, watch the kingdom. When I return, I will marry the prince so everything will end." She pleaded.

"The goddess will watch over you." He said.

"Thank you." She said.

"You should get going. No time to waste now." He said.

She nodded. She suddenly lost strength for words. The seer released sparkles on her which roll round her flukes. She released sparkles from her palms and it joined with the seer's. It rolled round her in a faster pace, making the ocean vibrate.

A vigorous explosion could be seen in the middle of an ocean. It was so terrible that if any living being was around, it could die instantly. An item appeared on top, floating in no particular direction. It's identification is unknown as it keep changing and twitching.

Soon, a mermaid is seen close to the shore, vibrating the environment. Sand particles could be seen scattered in the air. Celine looked around the environment, everywhere was dark. No one seem to be there.

She swim out to the shore, erecting her full body, showing her flukes. She leaped into the sand and turned to a Human. Looking around again, she stopped at a direction, penetrating it deeply with her eyes.

Magic shun across her eyeballs, indicating presence. Her ears became more exposed, catching footsteps and heartbeats of a Human. She knew it, someone saw her coming out of the ocean. But, what is a Human doing here now. It's night already.

Footsteps could be heard as an unknown being run like it's being chased. It was a lady, wearing bikini. She could have seen something that made her trembled. She couldn't look behind, hoping the mysterious being isn't following her.

Celine sigh deeply, she don't have strength to go after anyone now. But, she knew they would cross path again soon. She sat on the sand and relax her mind.

They got to the house. It wasn't a luxurious one but it was welcoming. Celine entered the living room with Jelly. She gasped at the sight, everything was different from her kingdom. She looked around the living room, imagining how it was made so.

"Welcome to my house, it's small but please feel comfortable." Jelly said and beckon to a sofa.

Celine sat down.

"Thank you. I like the small environment." Celine said and smiled.

Jelly smiled.

"I'm happy you liked it." She commented.

"To be honest, I wish these things are in my kingdom." Celine said and looked around again.

"Your kingdom? How does it look like?" Jelly inquired. She was curious.

"I know you have magic, you caused a huge explosion last night." She added.

"How come you were there last night?" Celine queried.

"I was looking for something. I thought I left it there." Jelly lied.

"Are you lying to me? I can read your mind." Celine blurted out. Jelly gasped and quickly covered her mouth.

"Sorry." Jelly whispered.

"Forget it. I'm not really interested in your personal issues." Celine said.

Jelly breath heavily and smiled.

"Okay." She whispered.

"Do you care for anything?" She asked.

"I don't know why my stomach is rumbling." Celine complained.

"Oh! I know. You are hungry. I will make something for you to eat." Jelly said and went towards the kitchen.

Celine sigh as she looked around. Suddenly, a little girl walked in. She looked at Celine wondering who she was. She walked slowly, taking her steps carefully till she gets to her.

"Good afternoon aunt." She greeted.

"How are you?" Celine asked and wondered who she was.

"I'm fine, what of you?" She inquired.

"Fine too." Celine replied.

"I'm Ana, are you here to see my mummy?" She asked.

"Wahoooo! Ana, such a nice name!" Celine exclaimed.

"Thanks aunt, do you want to see my mum?" she asked again.

"Yes, I...

"She's in the kitchen, I will go and call her." She interrupted. Celine dragged her back as she was about to leave.

"Goodness, you are very fast." Celine commented.

Ana blinked her eyes.

"I know she's in the kitchen, I have seen her. Are you her daughter?" Celine asked, holding her shoulders.

"Yes I am, please who are you?" Ana asked.

"I'm Celine, I will be staying with you for a short while." She replied.

"Celine? The name sound strange, I have never heard it before." Ana commented.

"I know, I'm also strange so don't bother about it at all." Celine explained.

"You are strange? What is strange about you?" Ana queried.

"You won't understand, child." Celine said.

"Of course, I will. I'm not a child, just tell me what it is." Ana said.

"Don't worry, you will know soon. I will stay here anyway." Celine replied.

"Really? You will stay here, you won't go away." Ana asked and smiled.

"No I won't." Celine replied.

"I'm so happy, my mummy will not be lonely again. She will be happy too." Ana replied.

"Really? Why do you say so?" Celine asked, feeling concerned.

"Well, my mum has been lonely since my dad left us. She has been very sad but she always act as if everything was alright. She always smile in front of everyone because she don't want questions. She don't even tell me anything, I always feel bad anytime she lies to me. I know she is not fine even though she pretends to be. I have even seen her cry many times, I always feel bad when she cry especially because I can't help her. It's really painful, I won't forgive my father for what he did." Ana said.

Tears trickled down her cheeks. She felt bad for everything. Celine looked at her and sigh deeply. She wondered how a little child knows those things. She seems to understand her mom more than anyone else.

"Don't worry, everything will be fine. You should keep encouraging your mom to be strong, don't cry dear." Celine said and wiped her tears.

"Okay, thank you." Ana said and smiled.

"You are welcome. How old are you, Ana?" Celine asked.

"I'm eight years old." she replied.

"I'm very sure we will be good friends, what do you think?" Celine asked.

"That's great, I will love to be your friend." Ana replied.

"Okay, deal." Celine said.

"Bye, I will see you later." Ana said and ran inside without waiting for her reply.

"She's so smart." Celine commented.
