He couldn't pinpoint exactly what was different.

Song Jia stood and excused herself. She had to prepare for the Autumn Festival.

Once she left, Lai Zexi and Lai An turned to the Patriarch.

"Patriarch–may I ask?" Lai An said.

"Sure. Go ahead." Song Xia nodded.

"What will happen to the previous engagement of the Young Miss and the Fifth Prince, now that she's back?"

Song Xia furrowed his brows. "He had already dissolved the engagement. He already married Huang Yimu."

"Yes–but–back then, the person was part of the clan."

"Still–brother–she is now the Princess Consort of the Fifth Prince. There's no way we would agree with our Young Miss becoming a concubine, right?" Lai An interjected.

"Of course not! Over my dead body!" Song Qing exclaimed. "Our Jia deserves more!"
