The room reverberated with the burning rage in his voice as the blond continued in a hiss, "They should go after that damn bastard Tristan! He is clearly the culprit! It was obvious that he wanted to frame me!"

"I will look into it," Lucas responded, his eyes darting around as if desperately searching for a plausible explanation

"You had better," Yves exhaled deeply, the weight of uncertainty hanging heavily in the grand room. "How long will I stay here? How come they want to leash me with an ankle monitor?"

Lucas' lips almost twitched into a sly smile at the question, the play of shadows accentuating the tension in the air. 

"Isn't it rather understandable?" he said with a teasing glint in his eyes. "You escaped in the past."

The blond responded with cold chuckles, the sound slicing through the charged atmosphere.

"And I will damn well do it again! Just watch me!" he exclaimed, his nod carrying the weight of a defiant promise.
