Chapter 3: Strange sister

Haruto went hunting while Yua and I decided to surprise him with a stupendous dinner, due to the huge profits he made. Not to brag, but my allowance back home was far bigger than his entire net worth.

I went to meet Yua in the kitchen to see if she needed any help, but she asked me to dice some onions.

"May I ask some questions" Yua asked

"Of course, why not" I responded

"Where are you from?" Yua asked

" I am from the kingdom of Ei sei"

She scoffs and says:

"That kingdom and their unbridled tradition" Yua said as she rolled her eyes.

"Our kingdom is the best, it's one of the cleanest places on earth, although we do some things the way they were done back in the days, but the tradition is very much bridled and we also add a little civilization to our way of life, just come to Ei sei and you will love it, from the streams to the forests conservations and clean environment." I replied.

"Say what you want, but I don't like that kingdom" Yua said

"Just give it a try, and you will love it" I concluded

"Okay! If you say so" Yua said

"What is your relationship with my brother?" Yua asked

"Is she crazy? Why is she asking me these questions" I asked myself without anybody but me hearing it?

"Uuum… we are just friends" I responded, by this time I almost cut my hands with the knife.

I had finished cutting the onions and I asked Yua what she was doing, and she said she was making rice and soup. What could I say? She loved her elder brother. I didn't know Yua was actually Haruto's younger sister until he told me, they looked like they were the same age.

In two hours' time, dinner was ready and Yua packed it in a flask in order to make the meal warm before Haruto got home. When Yua finished making dinner, we both went to sit on the dining.

"What is the name of your princess in Ei sei kingdom?" Yua asked

"Actually, she died of a fever a few years back, and since then no one ever spoke about her" I lied.

I actually felt very bad for lying to Yua, she was just curious, she wanted to research and I lied to her, it wasn't my fault, my mission isn't complete.

Just then, Haruto came in with two heavy sack. One contained animal meat, while the other contained clothes which he places in front of Yua and I. He gave Yua her clothes and he gave me mine.

"Where did you get this from? Is it where I think it is." Yua asked

"Don't worry sis, that was in the past, why are you always worried?" Haruto responded.

"Well, unlike some people, I'm always concerned about you" Yua said as she rolled her eyes to me.

"Excuse me, you were just talking to me before your brother came, and the reason why I didn't ask was because I had no idea what you were talking about, and I did care about Haruto" I said this in my mind, so as to prevent any immature arguments.

I just pretended as if I didn't hear what Yua said and I opened the cloth which Haruto bought for me. It was a short dress with a beautiful embroidery, and it was dark pink in color.

"Hina I have a place to show you, put on your new dress and follow me." Haruto said

I told him ok and I went to the room and locked the door while I changed. There was one thing I did not understand; why did he tell me to change my dress? What did he want to show me? Well, it didn't matter, I dressed up, and I also saw Haruto dressed in the spiffiest clothes I ever saw him on. Was it a date?

"Nah, I said to myself.

Before we left the house, Haruto went to whisper to his sister what she didn't seem to like from the look of her facial expression. I also went to her to inform her that Haruto and I were setting out

"Go do what you like" Yua said

"Ok, that was weird" I said to myself.

We left the house, on the way, I was wondering why Yua suddenly had a change of attitude, did I really do anything wrong, if I did, what did I do wrong? I soliloquized for a long time, I didn't know when Haruto and I stopped walking.

Haruto showed me a bridge with a metal rod, one can rest on, the stream was flowing well and the moonlight glows.

"Hina, do you like me?" Haruto asked

"Ok, this is getting really weird for me, you buy a beautiful dress and now you're asking me out" I told Haruto.

In my mind, I was excited and this is what I have been waiting for.

"I do, but I need to know you first" I replied

"No problem" Haruto said

"What did Yua mean back there? Why did she ask you the source of those clothes?" I asked him

"Hina, that was in the past, the past I never want to recall on ever again" Haruto said as he looked at the flowing stream,

"Well, if you like me, you will tell me" I responded

"Ok fine I will tell you" Haruto said

"It all happened long before you came, my sister was almost at the point of death because of a fever, I had no money and I didn't think of hunting at that point in time, I had no other choice… Haruto paused to see the inquisitive expression on my face.

"I begged for money, no one gave me until I became a common thief, pick pocketing from people, stealing food and valuable items to feed my sister and also buy medications from her. Nobody knew, not even my sister, I was always lucky, well not until one day, in the mid-day, I was about to steal a few pennies from a man and someone saw me and before I knew it, I was chased back to my house by a group of angry mob. If not for the continuous pleading of my sister, I would have been sentenced to death because in Koda, the king made the punishment of stealing death by hanging" Haruto finally concluded.

"But I promise, I'm a completely changed person now" Haruto said

"I believe you" I responded

"If I may ask, do you belong to a royal family?" Haruto asked

Suddenly, I had cold feet and sweaty palms, I was nervous

"Why in the world would you think I belong to any line of royalty?" I asked him

"It is because of your attitude and your expensive looking Katana'' Haruto said.

You wouldn't believe I brought my sword on this 'stuff' we are doing.

'' Well, I earned the sword from the kingdom where I come from as the cleanest house owner in Ei sei'' I responded

I actually felt bad for lying to Haruto, he confided in me and told me his past life, and now I lied to him. Although, I like Haruto, but I still don't feel he is my chosen one, whoever it is, I know the person is around me somehow.
