We almost...kissed

Chapter 41

"You want to send who overseas?" I asked taking my gloves of

sweat dripping off my forehead and slight nosebleed I was tending to, because of the heat.

"You?" she said, standing…

And everyone knew that she only ever stood up if she were extremely serious.

"I can't go I still have to study for 2 more years…" I said wiping away the last of the nosebleed.

" I understand, but this can also become a career for you

"And you can continue your studies part-time while pursuing this full time."

"I`ll see what opportunities are out there for me…I want to finish my course and not jinx things…I am after all still new compared to everyone."

I said before, respectfully exiting the area.

"What did she want this time?" Omar asked, handing me new gloves. "These came in today."

"Thanks and it's nothing,

"by the way, your dad sent you an email…why didn't you reply yet?"

"Did you see what he wants me to do?"

"He just wants you to be a judge…I remember we had millions of kickboxing coaches on our end during my taekwondo years."

"It's different.

"Come on. It'll be fun. I do miss taekwondo…" I said, showing him the two tickets in his email.

"I'll think about it," he said, leaving me to half-beat one of the bags.

When I first met Omar, I saw him as this gigantic robot who barely ever smiled, now he's an amazing soft teddy bear who can't even say no to me.

Yes, I was married to Omar now…the wedding was very secretive... and not many of his family members were invited. I don't know what the deal was between our families but it was starting to get to him. It frustrated me watching him pretend like he could venture through this life without them.

"I only need to bring over my clothes, then i`ll be settled."

"That means you can stay here tonight," he said smiling

"Yes," I replied," I'll go grab the stuff."

"I`ll go, "he said, jumping off the couch, "You can sort through the mess so long."

As I was unpacked, I found a box that did not belong to me... It had his old Taekwondo stuff and a picture of his mother beside him. If the sport meant this much to her that she even let it kill her why would he just run away from it? Surprisingly I also found the little loom band I gave to him as a child while learning how to braid one, I was so bad ay it. I quickly shut it when I heard his car pull into the driveway.

We sorted through the small pile after he placed the remaining of my property beside me.

"You have a recipe book as well?"

"Jee it's my mothers, she studied to be a chef."

"Wow that's interesting," I said rushing to the kitchen, "I want to try too."

He passed the flour to me, "We making the dough now, I remember whenever she'd notice I had a bad day she would call me over to knead the dough."

"Why dough`."

"Pun intended?" he replied "It was the only dish that required punches …then I'd tell her about my terrible day," he said with a large smile

"You're the most attractive man on this earth whenever you smile…"

"Oh, so do you look at everyone's smile, or is mine the only one you've noticed."

"Judging from my research, it is your smile that has made it to the top."

And that's when I got floured. "Don't waste," I said, grabbing the dough from his hand

He pulled me closer to him, smiling wider. I couldn`t breathe…he then picked me up, placed me on the kitchen counter, and grabbed my chin. I swallowed half of the flour as I listened to my heartbeat... when suddenly Owais walked in with Zakira.

" Really, "Omar said, rubbing his forehead as I burst out laughing

After cleaning up, and placing everything away, we all sat down to speak about Zakiras invitation earlier. Omar was very annoyed and simply wanted them to leave.

"You have it?" she asked

"Yes, I'll definitely do the 1-week program, but Jamal doesn't do matches anymore."

"You and he will be in one team and Omar with Owais."

"Okay, did you get that?"I said, turning to Omar

"Yeah, team, kata, a competition, I got it. Do phone before you visit next time," he said, walking to the kitchen.

Owais laughed, "since you guys are already here, might as well stay for dinner, "I said, following Omar to the kitchen

"Omar has other plans," Owais said

"Stay, there are no plans, dear Comrade," he said, taking out the plates.

While everyone enjoyed their meal Omar silently sat with a stuffed mouth.

To think I was saved from his terrible teasing, what a God-sent moment

"Thanks for coming, guys, house warming this Saturday," I said closing the door.

Omar washed the dishes heading to bed. I question what his plans were. After a while of doing some of my assignments, I dozed off. Waking up with a blanket, and breakfast on our coffee table. Today was his first practice, so he had to leave early. I quickly submitted my assignment, rushing to class with the ugliest clothing I could grab.

"You're late on your first day back," she said

"And you're not wearing a leather jacket," I said

"Why wasn't I invited to your wedding?"

"It was just a small nikkah; you're definitely invited for the wedding."

"Maid of honour?"

"Why not?" I said, smiling as I stole her notebooks "This is a blessing. Now I don't have to buy one.

"You must not complain when I steal your stuff."

"You stole so many things that I don't even own anything anymore."

With the professor shouting at us, we fell asleep in class. How we still pass, I have no idea. Eventually, after Jamal got back home, he was out and about helping Owais train the juniors. While I scribbled all over my laptop, watching Omar do all the hard work on our side unless he wanted something. We only did two classes a week and didn't accept private lessons.

"I heard you rejected Zakiras programme..." Jamal said confused

"A story for another day," I replied leaving
