A few days after the events of Chapter 5...
Miami International Airport - Miami, Florida USA - 6:30 P.M.
----------------------------------------------------
Two important Hope's Peak Academy faculty members were waiting at the airport runway, right outside of the private Hope's Peak jet they used to travel here. This jet was only used on special occasions, in case any of the Ultimate classes were planning on traveling somewhere distant, particularly out of country. Luckily, Ms. Yukizome was kind enough to let the two of them borrow it for this occasion, since it would definitely save the time of having to fly down to America in coach. It's a good thing I'm on a good standing with her. Otherwise, who knows how long I would've had to organize this, Munakata thought.
Kyosuke Munakata was the former Ultimate Student Council President of Class 74. He was often very recognizable for his tall, lean and colorless appearance. His hair was silver, his eyes were a very pale blue, and almost always showed a cold or calm expression on his face. He wore a black suit with a white undershirt, and a faded yellow necktie. To many people, he was very stern and strong-willed, and often took his work and his position as seriously as possible. In other words, the perfect choice to ensure this mission went alright.
The other man who went along with Kyosuke was Koichi Kizakura. He was Hope's Peak scout, meaning he was in charge of scouting out potential students for the school. Koichi was much more relaxed and sarcastic than Kyosuke was. He had clear blue eyes and ragged blonde hair, as well as a thin mustache and goatee. He was wearing a white tuxedo, along with a green undershirt plus a black vest top, a grayish tie, along with a stylish white fedora.
For now, both men were awaiting for their contact to arrive with the student they were supposed to be transporting. Although they've been waiting for the past hour and a half. Needless to say, Kyosuke was getting impatient. He was supposed to be continuing his work on Hope's Peak's overseas facility, not supervising over some suspended student.
"Ah, Miami. Certainly a sight I wanted to see in my free time, yet I never really got the chance until now. You know how busy my job gets. I'd say it's definitely been worth my time so far. It's not every day you get to visit the Everglades, you know. What's your highlight of the trip so far?", Koichi asked Munakata, before taking another sip from his beer bottle.
"I don't care about any sight-seeing right now, Kizakura. I'm more focused on our objective. We've been waiting here for almost an hour and a half now. How much longer will we have to wait for your contact to arrive? I don't want to waste more time waiting for this student", Kyosuke replied, in a more annoyed tone.
"You know it's not that simple, Kyosuke. Sonny's been supervising the kid ever since the suspension. From what I've been told, he's being transported here soon enough. Plus, traffic's been taking them too long, so they'll probably be arriving via helicopter. Just have some patience, my friend," Koichi reassuringly told him.
"I don't like to waste my time. Especially when I have to go all the way down to America just to make sure this student arrives in one piece. Why did Jin assign me to go along with this assignment, anyway? I'm sure Juzo would probably be better for something like this," Munakata said. He was busy looking at the rest of the airport.
"Ha! I think we both know Juzo would beat the kid senseless if he came along. He isn't exactly on good terms with him after the...incident, you know," Koichi said. The last thing we need right now is more casualties.
"How come? Could you share more details on who we are transporting? It's been a while since the incident occurred," Kyosuke told him, trying to recall the event.
"I thought you would've remembered this kid, Kyosuke. After all, you were the one who wanted him to get expelled from Hope's Peak, remember?"
That reminder was enough for Kyosuke to recall what happened. Vincetti Fiore. Of course. How I could I have forgotten about him?
"Wait...Vincetti? Now I remember that disgrace. He was suspended for selling drugs on campus, correct?", Kyosuke asked.
"Actually, he didn't sell anything on Hope's Peak's campus. However, we did find out that he was involved in some drug dealing out on the streets. He's lucky as hell he didn't get expelled on the spot," Koichi said, taking another sip of beer.
"He should have been. I can't believe I have to spend my time here to babysit that disgrace to Hope's Peak. I'm supposed focused on more important work, not this."
"Don't act so down, Kyosuke. I'm sure you'll have plenty of time later to hash this thing out. Besides, I've actually been wanting to visit more of this city had we gotten more time," Koichi told him.
"I told you once before: I don't care about visiting America now. I care about getting this job done and getting back to Yukizome," Kyosuke said, this time with more irritation in his voice.
"Since we're on that topic now, how's she doing? Is she okay handling my former job or not?" Koichi was referring to his recent removal as homeroom teacher of Class 77-B. According to what he knew, Jin did it because of his alcoholic condition, and Kyosuke actually was the one who suggested to the headmaster that Yukizome would be the perfect candidate for the position.
"Despite some of the...difficulties, she told me she was able to handle it. As I suspected. I knew she was qualified for the position," Kyosuke told him.
"Huh. I can see why you suggested that she took my place. Looks like I misjudged her."
"To be fair, Jin didn't exactly think it was best for Class 77-B's former homeroom teacher to always show up to work drunk." Kyosuke let out a little laugh after that. Koichi only looked at him with an annoyed glare.
"Ha ha, very funny, Munakata."
"Hey, I'm serious. She's the reason we were allowed to take the Hope's Peak jet in the first place. I think we both know Jin wouldn't trust you with that responsibility on your own."
"Well...fine, then. Point taken," Koichi admitted.
"Say, something just crossed my mind: how come Jin never expelled Vincetti, anyway? He never told me his direction reason once he reached his decision," Kyosuke asked him.
"He said it had something to do with avoiding the public eye getting their hands on this news. I'm pretty sure every reporter in Japan would have a field day if they found out a student attending Hope's Peak was involved in the very activities the academy swore to fight against," Koichi explained. "So a little deal was made: his suspension was made known to the faculty and the students, but we made sure the mainstream press didn't get hold of what he was suspended for. We just left it to them as 'inappropriate behavior slash misconduct'. In the meantime, Vincetti would be sent out of the country back to his home in the States under watch. I made sure to put up my contact to watch over him."
"Who's the contact?"
"He goes by the name of Sonny Heisenberg. His job is to make sure Vince would learn his lesson and check his progress on his discipline before coming back to Hope's Peak. And trust me, he didn't let Vince easy off the hook, either. But now that he's coming back, we need to keep an extra eye on this kid, just to make sure we don't have a repeat incident," Koichi explained.
"Agreed. It would be incredibly irritating to have to do this all over again," Kyosuke said, still waiting for the helicopter to arrive. Koichi decided to take another sip of beer before waiting with him.
----------------
Approximately five minutes later...
----------------
Across the dark orange color of the sunset, both men could see a helicopter flying through the air towards their location. The shiny, sleek black exterior of the helicopter was enough for Koichi to recognize. Yup, this is the one. Sonny told me he'd be showing up in one of these when he arrived. Although it looked as if the helicopter would probably arrive in two minutes.
"You see that chopper up ahead?"
"Yeah, I see it. Clear as day."
"Okay, that should be them in the chopper," Koichi told him. "Alright, here's the deal: we're doing a straight exchange on open ground. They'll get out and talk to us first, then we take them with us on the jet back to Hope's Peak. You got it?"
"Affirmative. Let's see what we have here," Kyosuke replied, cracking his knuckles. Koichi decided to put his beer bottle away before the chopper arrived. Both of the men moved closer towards the helipad and patiently waited.
Two minutes later, they can already feel the windy presence coming from the helicopter's blades, as they both stepped back to let it land safely. The blades spun around, making an irritably loud noise, as the chopper began to slowly descend onto the pad. At last, the machine landed successfully on the ground. About ten seconds later, the side doors of the helicopter opened up. The two contacts had finally arrived, and slowly made their way towards the Hope's Peak associates. The pilot was given the okay signal to fly back, and so the helicopter quickly left them be.
The first of these two contacts was instantly recognizable. The older of the two was wearing an oddly casual navy blue polo shirt, khaki pants, brown shoes, and a pair of sunglasses. He was slightly overweight (but not too noticeable), with dark black hair in a mullet hairstyle, with a protruding chin, too. He looked to be about in his late forties. Koichi recognized him. Yup, that's Sonny. Good to see he hasn't changed a bit.
Next to him was the student. Vincetti Fiore was none other than the Ultimate Multiculturalist. He was currently wearing a red Hawaiian Aloha buttoned-up shirt, covered with a white hibiscus flower-like pattern over it, and his pants were a pair of casual blue jeans, wearing a black belt around his pants. His hair was light brown, in the form of a "messy spikes" hairstyle, his eyes were dark blue, and he had a narrow chin. He seemed to be at least a good-looking boy, too, as he seemed to have a somewhat-fit posture.
"Ah, Mr. Munakata! Mr. Kizakura! So wonderful to see you two again after all this time!", the young man enthusiastically told him.
"You can spare us the fake enthusiasm, Vincetti," Kyosuke told him coldly. He wasn't keen to trust this kid easily.
"No, really, I'm serious. I'm trying to gain a better reputation now, you know? That starts with showing a bit more respect to the council members of Hope's Peak, wouldn't you agree?", Vince told him.
"Actually, I think that could start with you cleaning up your act-"
"Eh, whitey, take a chill pill and relax for a moment," Sonny interrupted him. He had a noticeable rough Jersey accent. "I've been watching over Vincey here for quite some time, and he's made some pretty damn good progress, if I do say so myself."
"Is that so? You sure he didn't give you much trouble, Sonny?", Koichi asked him.
"About as much trouble as a teenager will probably get himself into, but I got used to it," Sonny replied. "When I was his age, I wasn't faring much better. By the time I was his age, I'd already been in prison, I smuggled dope, I ripped off. But the good new is that he hasn't been on the streets selling substance while he's been here, I can assure you of that."
"Do you have the proper reports for that?", Kyosuke skeptically asked him.
"Of course I do. I've been keeping track of his every moment every week until now," Sonny replied.
"It's true. I've even gotten some time to visit the rest of the States while I was at it, too. And I'm more than happy to come back," Vince barged in.
"We can test that statement on our flight back to Hope's Peak, gentlemen. Thank you, Sonny, for saving me the trouble of having to check up on this kid for seven months. You've done me a real favor, man," Koichi said. He and Sonny gave each other a firm handshake.
"Hey, don't mention it. As long as Vincey gets back in and doesn't return to his old habits, that's fine by me. Now what do you all say we continue this discussion in the jet, shall we?", Sonny spoke.
"Agreed. We should get this over with already."
"Jeez, you don't have to get so aggressive about it, Mr. Munakata," Vince said.
"Don't lecture me about aggression, student."
"OKAY, OKAY! Let's just get in the damn jet and go already! I don't want to waste any more time here bickering," Koichi yelled, immediately trying to put an end to the madness before it got out of control. With that, the four gentlemen prepared to enter the jet for their flight back to Japan.
To be continued...
