Good Firewood

Heris pressed his hand against the window, watching the hunters beneath transport corpses hurriedly.

A putrid stench of rotting had taken hold of this cramped space.

Greenish water flowed along the channels at the edges, carrying carcasses of rats, bones, blood, and other indeterminable matter.

Bloodstains and bits of body parts were strewn all over the ground. Hunters were busy going through these, tossing out the rotted bits into the sewers and feeding the bits that were still fresh to the hounds.

The hounds growled and howled as they feasted, creating sickening crunches as they bit through bone.

These hounds that fed on human flesh had blood-colored eyes and rows of jagged teeth with a sticky drool dripping from them continuously. Besides that, the odor from that was absolutely dreadful.

The hunters that still remained here—the ones feeding the hounds—were already no different from beasts at this moment.

Having injected themselves with sordid blood far exceeding the thresholds, he then used a method obtained from Black wizard of the Scarlet Cult to forcibly keep him awake.

Their bodies and spirits were twisted together. Under the thick clothing and bandages, long and coarse hair grew from their bodies like a beast. The Zeng Tong was full of chaos, and could lose his mind at any time. In a sense there was no longer a human standing there.

In the incubator above, the egg of the Magic Ovum Mirror which was as crystal-like as a gemstone had become a crystal flower blooming from the center, with the middle being smooth like a curved mirror's surface, while the surrounding crystals underneath had gaps that were filled with swollen flesh and blood.

Below the incubator was a "huge altar"

The blood-covered ground was engraved with a magic circle that ignites the fuelwood of life, and all the corpses processed here.

The "altar" was like a huge fire where you keep throwing in fuel and let it's flames keep raging until it provides enough energy to hatch the Magic Ovum Mirror's egg.

"It's coming...-...It's coming soon". Heris looked obsessively and enthusiastically at the incubator that was hanging mid-air. He could already feel the wave-like ether constantly emanating from the magic mirror egg, spreading outward in ripples. The ripples were blocked by the engraved magic circle around it, and the entire space was shaking slightly, like a heartbeat after each wave.

"How beautiful, it won't be long before the sleeves arrive."

Heris gaze moved upward, staring at the rough concrete dome with a cold icy gaze revealing a bitter light.

And further up, is the ground of Norzin.

Those in the Secret Rite Tower were still chasing after them.

After Morphey's death, White Wolf and the Scarlet Cult situation took a sharp turn and they began rapidly declining.

At first, they could still rely on the information gap for Norzin's structure to support, but with the efficient operation of the Secret Rite Tower, under the carpet-like search, it could be said they were on their last legs.

The White Wolf also had to disperse its strongholds underground, fleeing like scroungers.

But the White Wolf hunters were still in better shape than the Scarlet Cults Black Wizards.

The Black Wizards no longer had a leader and the Scarlet Cult wasn't a sect. Now they just had "Advocating blood" Morphey's slogan. Because of Morphey's powerful rule, Scarlet Cult was almost no different from a sect. Their core lay in this rule that Morphey had established and now with Morphey's-death, their most important psychological pillar had collapsed instantly. The sense of shock made these Black Wizards whose original strengths were very impressive worse than that of the White Wolf. These self-proclaimed powerful Black Wizards were confounded by their own pathetic self-esteem.

"But in any case, these dark wizards are very useful firewood." Heris muttered to himself, watching a hunter throw a processed Black Wizard's corpse into the altar.

"Boom!"

The ether exploded into the void, and the magic circle on the ground emitted an obscure light.

Just as firewood was added to the fire, the invisible ether burned so intensely that the corpse soul and flesh all were burned and reduced into ashes.

Around the egg of the Magic Ovum Mirror above, the masses of blood and flesh began to creep and grow, climbing towards the incubator. The crystal flower began to proliferate, and the "petals" of the flower let out a crackling sound and started to gradually spread out.

He laughed loudly at the fact that the Black Wizards of the Scarlet Cult were like headless flies. He enticed a few confusing words, deliberately making them act as shields when the people of the Secret Rite Tower would come.

——

It collapsed at the first blow.

Panic had made them desperate in need of a new pillar, and they also wanted to maintain a cooperative relationship with the White Wolf, who seemed to have room in the Secret Rite Tower and had become their only lifeline.

But unknowingly they had stepped into a trap carefully woven by the hunters.

"Thanks to this great firewood, the incubation process has become at least twice as fast."The Black Wizard communicates with the ether to release spells, and his affinity with ether is first-class and the ceremony is the best ether container.

Heris didn't know why the mysterious man with snake eyes helped. But there wasn't much they could do. They had no other choice.

The feeding through rituals was far more efficient than their previous method of directly extracting vitality, including the map of the structure of Norzin in their hands, both were gifts from this mysterious person.

The bewitching words of the mysterious people seem to be echoing in his ears "Burn it, burn it to your heart's content, blood and life are the best fuel, and you will bring them nightmares and suffering. So Heris ignited the Scarlet Cult and the fire caused panic in Norzin.

"Not enough."

"Master Heris, the body of the black wizards has been used up.

A subordinate also came to report the progress:

"Do you want to continue hunting them? There are not many people left in the Scarlet Cult. They are all fleeing. They are not easy to catch, and it would also be a great risk for us.

There are only so many wizards in the Scarlet Cult, and after just a few days, they had all become nourishment.

Heris turned his head, put his hands on the shoulders of his subordinates, and said softly:

"No, soon you won't have to worry anymore." Another subordinate suddenly came in. It was a hunter who had almost been completely animalized with a two-meter-high body full of hair. He used one hand to drag the corpse, throwing it on the ground.

"Spider found us."

From this side on 52nd Avenue, he said intermittently. The Spider is the newly-built hunter organization that split from the White Wolf and was led by Ji Zhixu.

Heris slowly said "Ji Zhixu... She is someone who is more disgusting than those in the Secret Rite Tower. Since that's the case... let them come, it just so happens that it's time for this post to be destroyed."

Heris was standing, stepping on the head of the corpse which instantly turned into a huge upright white wolf, with a grin on his face.

"These little spiders sure will be useful"
