Chapter 2

"Thank you, dad," l say and he kisses my forehead.

"Anything for my little detective." He says proudly.

We all decided to see the car after the meal. Mom promised to look for a house with me tomorrow since where l will be working is far from home.

We finish eating and l load the plates in the dishwasher and mom joins me.

"Tomorrow is going to be a busy day, but it's all worth it." She says and l nod.

"Let's go see my car," l say and we all go to the carport.

"Someone is excited." Mom coaxes.

A black prior still in the carport. "It's so pretty." I say and hug both my mom and dad.

After a while of admiring my car, we then stroll back inside.

Before we could get inside l saw a dark figure rush past dad.

"What was that?" I ask

"What was what?" Mom asks and before l could say what l had seen l get hit from behind. I raise my hand to feel my face but blood drips off of it and l fall on my knees. Everything seems unreal it's like in the movies, l saw my mom and dad crying and calling my name in unison reaching out for me but l was too week to reach out for them.

My body becomes heavy and l fall on the ground. The person that is attacking my mom and dad is wearing a navy-blue tracksuit and a hood so l could not see his whole face l could only see a deep scar just above his left eye as he turned to check on me. From all the trauma of seeing my parents being brutally murdered and from losing so much blood l loose consciousness.

I am brought back to reality with a mourning sound.

"Help." The person says with a low voice it's barely a whisper but l heard it and abruptly lift heavy stuffs from where the sound is coming from.

To my surprise my brother is lying there heavily injured and bleeding everywhere. A spark of hope glimmers in me l am not all alone l still have my little brother.

I quickly gather him in my arms and with every ounce of breath and energy l have left l run as fast as my legs can carry me to the hospital.

I silently pray that l will make it in time and at least save my brother. When l reached the hospital, l was out of air and l tried to hang in but l couldn't, everything was coming at me all together l started feeling dizzy and everything around me starts spinning. l can't go on anymore l get on my knees and start screaming for help. I keep on screaming but it's not loud enough but as the saying goes 'his grace is sufficient for you' my guardian angel appeared in the form of man and stood Infront of me and l felt alive all the energy felt like it was restored. At the end of the tunnel there is always light.

He lifted my brother and ran with him into the hospital and within seconds he comes back with a stretcher bed and lifted me and rushed with me in.

"It's going to be fine." He reassures me with a warm smile and l nod several times telling myself to hang in.

"What is your name Miss?" He asks as we reach the doctors.

"What is yours," l whisper.

"John, Jonathan Merrick." He says rashly but l heard it crystal clear and insisted he knows my name.

"Andy," Is all l manage to say before my eyes start getting heavy, suddenly all l see is black and l loose consciousness as the doctors take over.
