Innate Skill

Less than 10 meters after Reyker walked out of the Novice Village, he immediately saw a white-haired NPC.

Reyker had already forgotten the name of this NPC, but he still remembered the quest very clearly.

As it was a Novice Village mission, in his previous life, Reyker had only seen it on the game forum by chance.

Reyker still remembered that the player who posted this post had the ID "A Psyduck".

A Psyuck was a player who was not interested in combat, and instead favored collecting information.

In the early stages, he might not have gotten by well, but as the game developed, the use of information came into play.

The value of A Psyduck rose rapidly, and for quite some time, he was extremely popular among players.

From then on, almost all the new players in the game used this quest to level up quickly.

It would be idiotic to refuse to use a faster method if there was one.

It was actually very simple to trigger this quest. One just had to stand within 20 meters of the white-haired NPC and not move. The NPC would take the initiative to approach the player in less than two minutes of the player doing so.

It was less than a minute that Reyker had stood in place before he felt a poke on his back.

"Young man! Do you know how to hunt?"

Reyker turned around and sure enough, he saw the white-haired NPC.

"I've learned hunting skills since I was a child. What do you need?"

Reyker went along with the NPC's words.

"In the north of the village, there is a monster called the jumping frog. Their thigh meat is especially tender. Can you catch 10 of them for me?"

After the NPC finished speaking, Reyker immediately saw the quest notification in front of him.

Quest: The Gluttonous Siouk (chain quest)

Objective: Capture 10 jumping frogs

Requirement: The jumping frogs must be alive

Rewards: 200 EXP, 100 copper coins, item of the next quest

Do you accept the quest? [ Yes ][ No ]

"10 jumping frogs is a piece of cake!"

Reyker agreed to Siouk's request.

The quest notification immediately indicated that he had accepted the quest.

"Young man, I'll be waiting for you!"

After saying this, Siouk turned and left.

Before he even took two steps, he had found another player to poke.

"Young man..."

Siouk's quest was undoubtedly very simple.

The jumping frog that he asked for did not even have a level.

As such, even if Reyker was only at Level 1, he could still easily complete it.

The most important part of this quest was the "item of the next quest" mentioned the quest rewards.

Although the system didn't show it, Reyker remembered it clearly, the item was a steel-jaw trap that had a special characteristic -- paralysis.

With the steel-jaw trap, even if Reyker was currently only in Level 1, he could still go solo against monsters above Level 5.

Fighting monsters above his level would naturally give him a lot of EXP, and with that, his leveling speed would increase.

20 minutes later, Reyker had already completed the quest.

When he returned to the village entrance, he heard Siouk's voice before he even saw him.

"Young man, it looks like you have completed the quest!"

Although Siouk looked like a frail old man with his bed of white hair, his movements were not slow.

Soon, he arrived at Reyker's side.

Looking at the ten jumping frogs in Reyker's hands, his eyes were filled with joy.

Siouk's attribute was gluttony, and so from his previous experience, it was most likely Siouk's next quest would still be about food.

"Yes, old Sir!"

Reyker handed the jumping frogs to Siouk.

"Young man, you did well!"

The moment Siouk took the jumping frogs, Reyker immediately saw the quest rewards.

[ Obtained 200 EXP ]

[ Obtained 100 copper coins ]

To obtain the next quest, Reyker immediately responded to Siouk's praise, "It's all within my capabilities."

"Young man, can I ask you for one more thing?"

"Please do, Sir!"

"In the east of the village, there is a kind of rabbit. Their speed is extremely fast, but their thigh meat is also exceptionally fragrant. Can you help me catch 5 of them?"

Quest: The Gluttonous Siouk (chain quest)

Objective: Catch 5 mad rabbits

Requirement: The mad rabbits must be alive

Rewards: 300 EXP, 150 copper coins, the item of the next quest.

Do you accept the quest? [ Yes ][ No ]

Reyker saw the quest notification, but he did not immediately agree.

The system did not automatically give him the quest item mentioned in the rewards, it seemed that he would have to ask for it himself.

Reyker had plenty of experience in such situations.

After all, the NPCs in the one were not stupid at all.

If they could give fewer rewards, they would never give more.

Oftentimes, if one did not ask for the rewards, one would be the one to suffer.

"Sir, they are too fast, I am not very confident!"

Reyker purposely said that he was not confident.

"Don't worry, I have been prepared for such an occurrence! With this item, it will be much easier for you to deal with those rabbits!"

Siouk handed Reyker a steel-jaw trap.

Reyker took the steel-jaw trap and the specifications of the trap popped up.

Worn-out Steel-jaw Trap (Quest Item)

Attack: 10

Usage Limit: 5

Special Effect: Paralysis [ interceptable ]

Evaluation: Do not underestimate any trap, especially one with a paralyzing effect.

After he took the trap, Reyker took a glance at the attributes and was about to set off to get the rabbits.

However, he seemed to have found something unusual.

He looked at the information of the steel-jaw trap again.

"Usage limit is 5, this is normal... but what does 'interceptable' mean? And it's a button which can be triggered too."

Curious, Reyker pressed the button which read [ interceptable ].

Immediately, the steel-jaw trap's specifications changed.

The special effect actually disappeared.

"This... What's going on?"

Reyker was a little confused.

The reason why one could fight monsters above one's level was all thanks to the steel-jaw trap's special effect.

Now that the special effect was gone, how could he still kill monsters of a higher level!

On top of that, the system did not show any other notifications.

After searching for a while, Reyker finally found something unusual on his attribute panel.

Game ID: Liquid

Level: LV1

Strength: 5

Agility: 5

Spirit: 5

Physique: 5

HP: 100

MP: 50

EXP: 200/500

Innate skill: Intercept (CD: 24 hours)

Special Buff: paralysis (95% chance to paralyze the enemy, rendering them unable to move for 3 seconds)

"Innate skill?"

Reyker scratched his head, "What the Hell Is This? I've never heard of such a thing before! It can't be..."

Reyker suddenly thought of what had happened the moment before he was reborn.

If it weren't for the skill book named "the Secret Art of Heaven Pilfering", he wouldn't have been hunted down, which thus resulted in him falling into the Forbidden Abyss.

"It's very likely!"

Reyker immediately thought it through.

The reason he was reborn and his possession of an innate skill were most likely because of the skill book "the Secret Art of Heaven Pilfering".

"Since I have the paralysis effect on myself, then... what I have to do next is much simpler!"

Immediately, Reyker left the Novice Village.

He stepped onto the highway which led to rapid level-ups.
