THIRST FOR VENGEANCE
TWO
I used to see my friends going out every weekend. They loved partying and every Monday I was like an alarm to them. Waking them up for class coz of their hangover. They often cussed but I didn't take it to heart.
Most of the Mondays they woke up with bottles on their hands. To get rid of the hangover, that's the answer I got whenever I asked.
Friday evenings they shared some of their stories. How so and so bought them drinks, how they were 'stoned' and ended up having s*x with strangers in the bathroom, how they lied to the waiter and got away without paying for drinks.
Their sexcapedes explained how much they were reckless. I mean they could contract diseases.
I was twenty two and never looked any man's way. I kept my purity not for anyone special, but I wanted to loose it under the right circumstances. Don't ask me which one but I think when I am conscious.
So today we are going to the club to celebrate. Yes, I said we, coz they convinced me. They told me they won't get drunk or leave me alone. We even did a pinkie promise. Funny right? Well that's all I needed. Protection from the itchy fingers of drunkards.
I looked for a perfect dress in my closet and wore after freshening up. Every one is ready. When I stepped out all of them said "NO!"
Aparrently I looked more ridiculous than my grandma with my outfit. They had to make me look like its not my first time. So they led me back in. Joy brought her jungle green knee-height dress, Stella brought her three inch high heeled sandals, Miriam brought a long sweater they called it"kimono" whatever that means. Angie did my makeup. Damn this girls were something.
I couldn't recognize myself in the mirror. Am sure my mum could have bypassed me. I sure as hell could have bypassed myself. My curves couldn't hide. I looked like a princess. I felt cold though. Am used to jeans and heavy hoods.
"Guys, this is ridiculous. I have never worn heels all my life. We might as well divert to the hospital." I finally managed to utter.
"Is that what you want to happen to you?" Joy asked narrowing eyes at me.
"No. Of course not. But am being real. I don't know how to walk on them. Come on guys! You should have given me lessons first and I would be cat walking without a problem now", I defended myself.
"Well, the lessons begins here. Now move, we have a cab already waiting outside." Angie grabbed my hand as we moved out of the room.
It felt like a waste of time arguing and I regretted why I said yes. We got into the cab and Miriam gave the destination address to the driver. I was amazed at how the town looked so lively at night. People walking up and down the streets. I felt calm a little bit.
Few minutes later the cab came to a stop and we alighted. Moonshine club was written at the top of the building. My legs grew colder as we made our way towards it. Most people were coupled up and were chatting and dancing away happily. We found an empty table inside and we plopped on the seats. A waitress came to take our orders. She was dressed skimpily and she seemed not to mind as long as she was working. The girls made their orders and when my turn came, I just asked for water.
"What!!" They all turned to me. "Seriously?
You should have had water at home", Stella looked at me with anger written all over her pretty face.
"Well I have never had alcohol at all. So what did you expect."
"Bring her kingfisher please," Angie told the waiter who was looking at me as if I came from a different planet. She noded and left.
"Girl are you insane?" Miriam addressed me.
"Well am still Mercy, I don't remember introducing myself as insane", I retorted as the rest laughed.
That's how kingfisher was introduced to me. After struggling with the first bottle, I felt a bit light headed and my excitement intensified. The second bottle made me more excited and I was up and dancing my hands stretched out. I saw my friends getting excited and soon they all disappeared. My head started spinning slowly. I felt like I was in a merry go round spin wheel. My head throbbed. And the last thing I remember was someone carrying me before I passed out.
