Chapter Ten

THIRST FOR VENGEANCE

The rest of the day went well. Lyn took me through everything and everyone and I was damn exhausted by the time the clock struck six. Customers were already trickling in and I was so nervous. When we sold dope we did it in secretive manner but here everything will be watched by the seniors. I braced myself for anything. Confidence is the key.

"Someone is already nervous, this is just the beginning of the day here. You know we do night shifts right?" Lyn asks as she observes me carefully.

"Of course," I nod nervously "So what time are we getting off shift?" I asked.

"When the customers have all left definately" she replies. That's usually between twelve and one midnight. Can you handle that?"

"Sure" I was tired of just sleeping the whole time anyway. Getting myself busy was definately a very welcome idea even if it meant being on my feet the whole night. Besides I was being paid nicely.

I should call Hazel and inform her about my whereabouts now. So I fished my phone to make a call when someone grabbed my hand and it fell on the floor breaking to pieces.

"What the fuck?" I asked as I furiously turned to see who did this to me.

"Sorry Miss," I was met with the most apologetic face I had ever seen. For a moment there i forgot that I had just lost my phone. Then I immediately composed myself.

"What did you do that for?" I turned to face him, eyes burning through him and I could see tiny bits of fear in his dreamy eyes.

"Someone pushed me and almost fell when I grabbed you," he said.

"And who the hell is that who pushed you," he pointed at some girl almost my age who was looking at me as if she has just won an award.

She sure looks like a trouble maker and she should thank the stars that this is my first day on the job coz I would have given her the piece of my mind. I don't take shit from bitches.

"Am really sorry Alexa, I will get you another phone when I get my pay cheque I promise," he said and I just noded.

I guess he read my name tag on my blouse, that's why he said my name coz honestly I never introduced myself to him. He disappeared into the crowd and I saw the girl sneer at me before she grabs her bag and headed for the door. I guess she expected me to pick a fight but I guess it was a bad timing for her. Not that I couldn't fight but considering it was my first day at work, I will just turn the other cheek.

"Girl, did you piss someone in your past life? Looks like they are finally catching up with you," Trinidad asked looking at me then the door the girl just exited.

Does this girl know I have a past life? I wondered. But the answer that came was

"I have no idea who the hell she is,"

"Don't worry I got your back. I guess she is just jealous that you are pretty and she is ugly" Trini says her face so serious I believed her but I couldn't suppress the laughter that I was so holding, I laughed so hard my ribs hurt.

Well Trini had a kinda muscular body I guess gym was her place. So was slightly glad she had assured me of backup in case I needed it.

I didn't have Hazel's phone number off head so I just hope she doesn't freak out when she finds me off line.

The rest of the night the club being so full of people and no drama. I learnt a lot that night such that when were closing the manager came down to congratulate me on my good work.

We went to a spare room where double beds were laid out in pairs and lay down. The double deckers were six and when everyone had taken theirs I went to an empty one fortunately it was the lower one, I hate heights. I slept peacefully till dawn.

"Good morning sunshine," I was woken up by Lyn the next morning. "Wake up we need to do the cleaning," she told me. That's when I realized I was the only one still in bed. I jumped out and spread my bed in a millisecond. Followed Lyn to the club, the rest were already halfway scrubbing the floor and pulling seats.

"Good morning sleepy head!" Trini was the first to sport me.

"Good morning Trini, you didn't wake me up," I put up an accusing face.

"Sorry your Highness, when did I become your alarm?" She narrowed her eyes at me as everyone else burst out in laughter.

"Well since you asked for it, you are officially appointed as my alarm," I told her.

"A round of applause for this mighty appointment ladies and gentlemen," Mandy finally spoke as we clapped cheering 'my newly appointed alarm'.

The morning duty went well and it was time to go home. The time was eight in the morning. Reporting time was five in the evening. So we bid each other good bye as we headed to our respective homes.
