The Encounter

The day was unnecessarily bright. Cars zooming by the road making unpleasant noises, people trekking to their work places, so was I. I had already finished my bath and took up my backpack and was in my way to school. The School was a bus away from my apartment. I lived alone by the way. My Dad had just died from cancer and my stepmom now runs the family. She wasn't all mean as most step mothers are. She didn't have time to look after me and run the company at once so she decided to send me off far away to New York. She paid for everything, from the expensive apartment down to huge allowances weekly. I was actually comfortable. This thought kept running through my mind as I waited for the bus. As I waited I noticed an unusually tall woman sitting beside me she was wearing what looked like a witch hat and a black gown. She emitted an ominous aura. Her makeup was thick and I noticed the black lipstick she applied. It was then I realized how short I was, and I was sweating profusely. I didn't know if it was from fear or curiosity. It was at this moment she looked back into my eyes. Her eyes were brightly colored with Sky blue pupils. And as ominous her dressing was, she looked really beautiful. She frowned when she looked at me but soon glided into an alluring smile. It was then the bus I waited for and seemed to take ages to come had finally arrived and I got in. I went to the back sit and turn to look at the stop I sat in previously to see if she was still there looking at me , that is. But she was gone. vanished almost as if she was never there.

When I got to school I carried out my natural routine; sit alone and wait for the morning assembly, The actual assembly arrives, back in class and sitted for the first lesson and so on. It was going normal until I saw her again from the window during break. She was passing the garden face forward looking as if she was going somewhere. I just decided to look away for that moment.

"And he scores!"

'pat!' a slap landed on my back and the pain followed. I looked to see who would dare try do such a thing. Then I saw Her, Stacey Blink. A rich girl from the neighborhood where I lived before I moved into my apartment after dad died. We knew each other since kindergarten and now here we are again. She was known to be a bully but if you get to know her you'll see she's just an insecure little brat on the inside.

"Why did you hit me? I've warned you about this several times but you seem to take delight in ignoring my warnings."

"Oh please. It's not as if you could hurt me"

" I can and I will!" I said, chasing her down the hallway. She ran so fast I just couldn't keep up. Well I tried my very best. She won gold place in the interschool competition. I stand no chance.

"Catch me if you can! silly old cat. you run as fast as my grandma"

"Argh!! you'll pay for this believe me you will."

I chased her until she bumped into our Spanish teacher, a woman of Brazilian origin and always wore a beautiful smile.

" no running along the hallway children. I believe this isn't the first time I told you this and probably won't be the last so, to the principal's office you go."

No one could tell if the smile she always wore was for good or evil.

I was given detention and so was Stacey.

The day passed by so fast and I was on my way back from school. I saw her for the third time. You know what the say 'the number three is a lucky number.' She was sitting in my position at the bus; the last seat. I decided to meet her this time. She noticed I was coming and immediately scooched over for me.

"Hello Miss?"

no response

" hello I believe I'm talking to somebody."

She looked at me with disgust. It was then I noticed how long her hair was.

" The audacity!"she said with optimum regal authority.

"Oh I'm sorry miss but...."

"You mortals seem to lack respect even today. If I wasn't in such a good mood you would be dead by now. You tell me your name"

"Harris? forgive me It wasn't meant of me to be rude or anything. I'm sorry."

" I asked only for your name and your name you only shall you give me. Prepare Harris. Your life is about to get tangled with the will of gods..... literally."

"With the will of gods? what do you mean? do gods really exist? I thought thee were just myths we told each other for fun."

"So you dare! even after given the audacity classify me as fun??!"

"Are you a god?"

"I don't want to answer your question!"

" Ha! I knew it. No way in hell gods existed in this modern day era. it would be so awkward and stuffs like that. What's your name "

"Have you no shame?! who gave you the courage to ask stupid questions? Really you should be grateful I'm gracing you with my presence. Petty human."

It was here it hit me hard. Of all her insults this one was the worst. She just really had no idea how to control her tongue. This insults made me mind my business and I didn't talk to her after that throughout the time in the bus.

As soon as I got to my stop I highlighted, looked at her one more time and paid. I started walking towards my apartment. Something didn't feel right. I noticed I was being watched. I could feel it in the marrow of my bones. I turned to prove my mind wrong and I did. Everytime I turned I saw no one but I could swear on my father's grave someone was following me. I entered the building. My apartment was at the top floor. I looked at the stairs attempting to take it to find out who was following me but I was tired from the day's troubles. Later on I decided to take the elevator. I was about punching the close button when someone held the door. It was her; the lady of the bus incident. I felt so insecure and a little bit flustered. I couldn't conclude yet she was my stalker. We had an awkward silence in the elevator it was then I noticed how tall she was. On reaching the top floor I highlighted from the elevator and headed straight to my apartment. I still noticed her following me.

"Her apartment should be around here"

I thought to myself but wait! I was the ONLY person that lived in this floor of the building.

I just stood at the front of the door leading to my apartment, Shaking from fear. I finally got courage to unlock the door. I was planning to close it as fast as I could but she closed the distance between us fast, held the door and whispered softly

"I'm not the only one here".
