Family

Lin Huiying and Lin Dan didn't know what to say at this point.

Soon the food that the five people had ordered before the arrival of the Lin trio arrived. The siblings know what the others liked, so they usually don't wait for everyone to arrive before ordering the food.

The Zhou trio noticed that point. They liked how the Lin siblings were so close to each other despite being born in an influential and powerful family. For them, their family was important.

Zhou Dongyu had a sad smile hanging on her face, "I envy you guys."

The sound was not very loud, but it didn't fail to draw everyone's attention. The Zhou siblings agreed with her in their hearts while having similar expressions.

"For what?" Lin Dan asked her.

"For having a family like yours. All of you don't even share the same parents still act as you do. The elders of your family also love you guys. I….am just...I can guess I am just speechless. Don't know what to say." Then she looked at her siblings and asked, "Will we ever have such a family?"

Both the Zhou brothers were silent. They knew the answer.

"Family." Lin Huiying turned to the window and gazed outside as if in deep thought.

She couldn't help but recall her relatives. Except for her family, she never experienced true joy and friends and relatives. She always craved for them. Very dearly. A happy loving family.

Then she turned to look around the table at the people sitting there. She now had loving cousins who truly cared for her and made new friends.

"Life's greatest happiness. A group that dreams, laughs, plays, and loves together. Those whom you can always count on. Always present not only in the good times. The most precious gift."

Lin Huiying recited what her mother had told her when she was a teenager. This had always stayed with her. Their family was extremely close. Everyone would be willing to die for each other kind of family. She would always think that God compensated the four of them with the presence of the other three for the numerous suffering they had to go through in their life.

Lin Huiying looked at her siblings, "I am more than grateful to God for all of you." The others agreed with her.

Lin Jiang turned to the Zhou trio, "And we are happy to welcome you to our family. You are now part of our family. One of us. It doesn't matter if your surname is Zhou or Lin. What matters is our heart. What do you guys think about us? If you are equally willing to accept us as your own. Or you still have reservations in your heart. It is okay to have them. Our friendship just started, but I hope you can trust us and be comfortable around us. So don't feel left out. We are yours as much as you are ours."

The Zhou trio was moved. It had not been a long time since they became friends. But it felt as if the whole group just clicked with it each other. As if they have known each other for years. Probably the reason behind it was that they had similar priorities and principles in their life.

The Zhou's came from the royal family, but more than half of their life was spent outside the toxic palace. They had no interest in power and wealth. In a true sense, their family only consists of four members. Three siblings and a mother. They wanted to be loved. But they had learned to love others too. They had more emotional maturity than the idiots who grew up in a royal palace or huge aristocratic families.

Similarly, the Lin family gave more importance to family ties. They had learned to be kind and respectful. Old man Lin had suffered a lot in his childhood because of all the family drama. He had vowed in his heart to never repeat the same with his own family. He was brave enough to break the generational curse and be called the black sheep of the family. Cause he was much more mature mentally. He had not let his life be destroyed because of what he suffered but healed himself. That's why his children and grandchildren grew up in a healthy environment.

And it's said that like-minded people don't find it difficult to connect in single afternoon lunch. Both the Zhou's and the Lin's were not idiots. Both the groups were intelligent enough to detect any malice from the opposite person if there was any. But they believed in what they judged and felt.

The group moved on from the topic with warm feelings in their heart. Some showed it on their face, some hide it. But looks like the feelings were mutual. Today they had laid the groundwork for their strong friendship.
