Once there she found the kitchen bustling as Edna and another woman made sandwiches.


Not sure what time it was exactly, she asked: “What is going on?”


“Good morning dear,” Edna greeted her with a grim smile. “Tanya, this is Mercia, Patrick’s wife,” she introduced the woman. 


“Good morning,” Mercia said in a very business-like tone. A typical farm wife, Tanya thought as she glanced at her for a brief moment; then turned her attention back to the older woman. 


“What’s going on outside?” she repeated the question.


“There was another attack on a plot not far from here; the men hoped they will be in time to help.” Edna explained.


“Can I help with something?” Tanya asked, walking deeper into the kitchen, with one glance she saw everything was clean and tidy, just as she would have expected from Edna.
