She coughed more, trying to take deep breaths but everything was burning so bad that it was difficult. Desperately she clawed at them for life giving air but it was futile. 


“Well?” was all Karl asked, when she didn’t respond she was dumped back into the water. 


Unceremoniously she was held underneath as the man shook her brutally. His fingers were digging into her flesh which was tearing under the pressure and it burnt profusely.  But then her worst fear was the watery death and she fought with everything she had. 


She had no idea how long she could go on like this or where her strength came from. Her life flashed before her like a YouTube clip – in quiet pauses as if it couldn’t be downloaded quickly enough.
