Chapter 30: Recuperating.

Later, after the doctor visited, she dozed off in a restful sleep. Once she was awake again Enrico helped her with her hair, washing it carefully which she appreciated. Every person on the ship was doting on her and she could not help but soften her heart, a little bit. When hot water was carried in, she had no words. Their care touched her heart. Thoughtful of the changes since the pirate declared his love to her. It was if the entire ship had changed.

The moment she was left alone, she lay in the warm bath, careful not to dampen the bandaged shoulder, soaking the stiffness away. Her body stung, but it felt good to be clean again.

Looking at her own reflection in the small handheld mirror, afterwards she looked at her face. Swelling and bruises covered her face and briefly she thought about scars. Her beauty was something she appreciated but was not obsessed about it. Now her normal reflection showed another side. Could she live with that if permanent?
