When Sonia finally let go of him, he finished his meal while she updated him on the current situation in camp.


"No, what happened?" They ordered a fresh pot of coffee and took in the view, the sun touching the new day. 


"Brock is dead, and Anna sent back after the assault."


"How did that happen?" He frowned. Why did Turmel not inform him of this?


He sucked in his shock. "Was Sam arrested?"


"Yes. Everyone is angry about it. He saved my life, Curt. That man is a saint."


"He did his worst on her, she needed an emergency operation."


"He tried, but Sam was just in time. You know, just a few days before that, God gave me a promise of protection. This time evil didn't stand a chance."
