The next morning I had to go to school, so I woke up early. I was used to waking up and finding mom already up and my breakfast ready but this time round it was different. When I woke up, I brushed, bathed, dressed, made my bed and went out of the room. I went to the kitchen hopping to find something to eat or maybe I would prepare something if I didn't find what to eat. Instead I found dad in the kitchen preparing breakfast for all of us. "Good morning dad." I said when I saw him. "Good morning. You are up early?" Dad asked. "I thought I had to make for my self breakfast." I said and he just smiled. "I'll be making the breakfast every morning." He said. "So, you just go and prepare for school." He added. "Alright, thanks Dad." I said and went back to my room. I got my books and packed them in my bag and checked my phone. I saw Hannah had blocked me and that's when I decided to give up on her. Is it me who just couldn't see her mean side when we were are school or what? Any ways when I was done, I went to the dining room and found when dad had already finished to make breakfast and had already gone back to his room. I sat started taking my breakfast. By the time I finished with my breakfast, dad had already finished with dressing. I stood up and went to my room, I got my bag and went out. Henry was standing at the door way to his room. "Bye." He said when I saw him. "Bye." I said too. "Are you ready to go?" Dad asked. "Yeah." I said and we went to the car. I sat and dad started driving. When we reached school, I didn't know how to feel. I didn't know, was I supposed to be sad or act like as if everything was fine? I just couldn't tell but when I got into class every one was looking at me. I ignored their looking at me and sat on my seat. "Hey, good morning." I said to Sara. "Good morning." She answered but she was not feeling fine with talking to me. "Hey, are you okay." Hannah asked. "Yeah am good." I answered and added, "Why do you ask?" "It was on the news that a lady had an accident and we all saw you crying near the person." She said and tears started rolling down my tears because it were like as if I were re-living the moment. "OMG, I didn't men to make you cry." She said like in a really sad tone. "It's alright." I told her. Brandon noticed the tears on my face and said, "Hey, new kid. Why are you crying?" He said and added, "Were you told that you were ugly and you're sad because it's the truth?" What he said caused a lot of attention to me. "Hey, don't you ever get tired if stupid insults. You know why she's looking sad and you are still being really mean." Hannah told him. What she said made me know that every one in my class knew what happened to mom. Aaron came and touched my shoulder and said, "Rita, I know right now you feel like you shouldn't have come to school, but trust me I shall help you out if anyone tries to make you sad. In general I shall be there for you." Him saying that made me feel I had someone to lean on. "I shall also be there for you." Hannah said making me smile and I cleaned my tears. "Am fine. Everyone else can go to their seats." I said while acting like as if I were fine. I think it's because of my sentence because everyone else apart from Aaron went. He stood near me for a long time then later he said, "Sara, could you give us sometime?" Sara left and sat on some other seat. "Is your mom fine?" He asked when he occupied Sara's seat. "She died." I answered him. "Oh, that's a pity. I am sorry to ask. I didn't know." He said sounding really sorry. "No, it's okay. Actually we are going for her burial tomorrow." I told him. "Where is it going to be?" He asked. "At the church across the street." I answered him. "You mean St. Luke's church." He said. "Yeah, why do you ask?" I asked after I answered him. "Nothin' much. So, you're not coming to school tomorrow." He said. "Yeah am not." I answered him. "I just want to let you know that I shall help you out." He said. I just smiled and he left. As he was going, I noticed everyone was looking at us. I ignored them and got a book to revise. Sara came back and asked, "What were you and Aaron talking about?" "Nothin' much." I answered her. She rolled her eyes and said, "Maybe you don't know but Aaron ain't the right person to spend your time with. If you get what I mean, lucky for you. But if don't, you'll just find out on you're own." She said. I ignored her and said in my head, 'At least he's caring.' I revised my book, chemistry in particular. As I was waiting for the teacher to come into class, I was called to the principle's office. I went to her office, "Principle Mary, may I come in?" I said when I reached there. "Yeah come in." She said. I entered and stood there like a dummy. "Sit down." She said. I sat but I was too afraid of her I even forgot to great her. "I heard you didn't attend school yesterday, what's the problem?" She asked in a really calm tone. "I had gone to the hospital." I answered. "What were you doing in a hospital? Are you sick?" She asked. "No, am not sick it's my mom I'd gone to visit." I told her. "What happened to your mom?" She looked so concerned I just poured everything out. I told her of how my mom went to buy vanilla essence and how she was knocked down by an over speeding car, and how she died. "That's so sad. It's a pity." She said when I was done and she announced through the microphone that everyone was needed in the main hall that moment. "You can go." She told me. I stood and went to the main hall, where every one was needed. When everyone was in the main hall, Principle Mary started addressing everyone and she reached a point and said, "I'd like to call forth Rita Folkwest." I went on the stage and she said, "As a school we recognized her mom's death and still as a school, in respect of the deceased, we shall not study today nor tomorrow. But first I'd like two volunteers from each class who shall go to the burial tomorrow." She said that and there were many people who raised their hands. I looked around hopping to see Aaron's hand up but it wasn't. Actually he was talking to some one. "Alright then if you want to come, register in office. So, the thing is first come first serve." Principle Mary said and told me I could go back to my seat. I noticed people were happy because we weren't going to study for two days. The session got over and people started leaving, one at time. As I was passing by the principle's office people had already flocked there. I started wondering whether it was because they liked me or they just wanted to be some where else but not home. I reached class and found Aura waiting for me. "Hey," She said.
