The Rich and The Poor

Xu Huiwen quickly tried to appease the little shota. "Haha. Forgive me, littl–, handsome Mo! Come on! I cooked your favorite breakfast meal. I've been waiting for a few weeks now for your wonderful VR set. You won't renege on your promise, right?"

"Tsk. At least you know better." Mo Jun turned around and Xu Huiwen followed after him as they both situated themselves on the two-person table dining set.

This had been their set up ever since the new semester started.

Most of the students had decided to go back home and only a fifth of the whole student body remained in the dormitories. Hence, there were some changes with the room allocations to minimize the expenditure of the university.

The atmosphere in the room was a bit awkward as usual. Only the clinking sound of silverware could be heard as both Xu Huiwen and Mo Jun consumed their breakfast in silence.

Oh well, that was before Xu Huiwen broke the silence with a drawled out, "So…"

Mo Jun looked up from his plate when he heard Xu Huiwen's modulated voice; he was slightly irritated at 'him' for disrupting his meal.

'If you spout any nonsense, I'd make sure you won't have a good time inside my virtual world.' Mo Jun glowered at Xu Huiwen menacingly, thinking of countless ways to torture the scum.

Mo Jun waited for a full minute but the darn guy in front of him didn't say anything else.

"If you have something to say, just get done with it. Don't disturb me while I'm eating." Mo Jun gritted his teeth in annoyance.

He couldn't quite explain it himself, but whenever he opened his mouth, he would always want to tick Xu Huiwen off.

Just like right now.

Xu Huiwen chuckled, not minding the little shota's threatening tone. "Heh, handsome Mo, I was just trying to initiate a conversation. Anyways, how's your VR project coming along? You haven't told me about it yet."

It turned out that both of them had a mutual desire to annoy one another.

Mo Jun, remembering what he did earlier on his VR set, smirked at Xu Huiwen and said, "Eh, you want me to spoil you? Fat chance! Why don't you try it now? It's gonna be exciting! He he..."

Xu Huiwen felt a chill down her spine, an uneasy feeling creeping inside her, upon seeing Mo Jun's unsettling smile. She had always trusted her gut feeling, and her gut feeling was telling her that this little devil had something planned to do her in.

"I'm still waiting for my friend's e-mail, so maybe later?" Xu Huiwen tried to bail herself out.

But just as she said this, her phone beeped. It was the promised mail from Xiao Mingyu.

'Talk about timing! Little Yu chose to send it at the wrong time.' Xu Huiwen felt bitter.

'You can't run away now, scum Wen!' Mo Jun thought evilly.

He could still remember quite a number of instances when this scum 'male' had stayed up late in the night to talk with various women over the phone.

Of course, the shota was resentful. But now that he thought of that, he couldn't understand why he was so angry at the scum.

It's not like he liked Xu Huiwen, right?

Horror flashed in Mo Jun's dark eyes as this thought flashed across his mind. That couldn't be! He's straight! How could he possibly like this scum male!

He looked at Xu Huiwen just to see 'him' in a daze while staring at 'his' phone. That particular expression was quite eye-catching...

Indee–

F*ck!

What's wrong with him?!

No matter what or how, he had to force Xu Huiwen to use the VR set. He had to mess with this 'guy' thoroughly to blacken his image of 'him'.

"Oi! Oi! Don't space out! Go ahead and try the VR set. You only have this chance." Mo Jun threatened.

"Huh, what did you say?" Xu Huiwen shook her head, trying to clear her mind. Then she asked out of context, "Ne, Mo Jun, do you think someone who doesn't have any experience of falling in love can write a love story?"

Mo Jun was caught off guard.

What's with this sudden question?

It took him some time to gather his thoughts and was about to seriously answer when Xu Huiwen beat him to it. This female writer took his silence as a lack of knowledge regarding this subject matter.

"Forget that I asked. What can a little genius like you know about love?" Xu Huiwen laughed a bit to herself before her attention went back to the list of themes Xiao Mingyu had just sent to her.

Why would she even ask this shota? He looked like he's barely fourteen! What could he possibly know about such a topic? Was she not right in the head?

Xu Huiwen's comment offhandedly touched Mo Jun's sore spot, which brought the latter into a rage: "I'm old enough to be your sugar daddy!"

Xu Huiwen was shocked at first before she burst out laughing. "That's so funny!"

Melodious laughter echoed inside the four corners of Mo Jun's dorm room. Xu Huiwen clutched at her stomach as she glanced at Mo Jun's flustered figure through her half-closed eyes.

"I didn't know you were such a joker, Sugar daddy Mo!"

Sugar daddy Mo, ahem, Mo Jun glared at Xu Huiwen. Pulling out his thick wallet from the back pocket of his pants, he took a handful of cash and slammed it on the dining table.

"Yes, this sugar daddy will give you pocket money! Now go and play with the VR set." Mo Jun was incensed.

Seeing the wad of cash on the table, Xu Huiwen stopped laughing altogether. She was really in need of cash right now. Should she keep the money?

Seeing the scum hesitating, Mo Jun egged 'him' on. "What are you waiting for? Get the money and play my VR now!"

"Hmph! So it's like that." Xu Huiwen didn't dally anymore. She wouldn't understand rich people's thoughts, anyways.

If money was not important to them, this penniless girl would gladly pick up the cash they'd throw her way.

She wouldn't need to join that darn WSA contest anymore.

And so, Xu Huiwen, prodded by her need to get more money, agreed to put on the VR headset without knowing that her life would turn upside down from then on.

"Alright! So what do I do?" Xu Huiwen was still a bit wary upon remembering that evil smirk Mo Jun sent her way.

No one could compete with this little devil's degree of black-belly-ness.

But soon, her excitement overrode her wariness as she saw Mo Jun pull out a VR headset from one of his cabinets. After all, this was the first time she would get to use this kind of stuff. She's excited to try out new things!

"I'll set it up first. You go clean up and make sure that no one will disturb you later while you're playing. I won't answer your calls for you." Mo Jun instructed as he started fiddling with the VR headset.

Xu Huiwen tilted her head in confusion. The little guy's mood swings were too much for her to keep up. One moment he's angry, the next he's amiable.

Whatever!

As long as she gets to play, she could care less about the moody Mo Jun.

When all's ready and done, Mo Jun stuffed the VR headset into her hands. "Put it on."

Xu Huiwen held the VR headset carefully, much too afraid that she would accidentally drop it on the floor.

But there's a problem...

She didn't know how to put it on!

She only saw this kind of stuff over the web, and knowing she couldn't afford such luxury, the poor lass didn't bother checking them out. Her knowledge about this was only from some instances when Mo Jun would mention it to her in the passing.

"What are you standing there for? Quickly put it on!" Mo Jun's brows furrowed when he saw Xu Huiwen standing there in a daze.

Xu Huiwen blushed crimson with embarrassment, stammering in her words: "I-I don't… I don't know how…"

With Mo Jun's usual attitude towards her, Xu Huiwen was almost certain that he would mock her again. She lowered her head, not wanting to see his gaze full of disdain.

"Give it to me. I'll help you put it on."

Contrary to what she had expected though, Mo Jun's voice seemed to be gentle?

Xu Huiwen's gaze snapped back at him almost at that instant. But before she could take a good look at him, Mo Jun had already pushed her down on the couch.

His small stature towered over Xu Huiwen's; his chest was right in front of her, and she could smell the faint aroma of coffee as well as his natural body scent.

They were really too close.

Xu Huiwen could feel her ears and neck burning. She was glad that Mo Jun had moved away from her once he had put the VR headset on her.

Immersed in the darkness, the sound of her heart beating loudly against her chest was amplified in her ears as she leaned back on the couch to make herself more comfortable.

A flash of blinding light followed the previous void. The next thing she saw was a forest?
