Re:born: Between the past and present.

Mei Xing didn't expect for this to happen , she died yes , and she already accepted that , backstabbed by her two most trusted friends , her foolishness after all resulted her downfall , thought it did hurt her ,seeing that the two who she thought were her best friend betrayed her in the end , just for what? And the answer was just simple as the question itself ,and just with one word , Yeah jealously .

she can't change what happened , so she let it be , she can't hate them isn't that stupid ? She is supposed to hate them , no more then that , despise them to the core , after what they did to her , that's what any other sane person would do right ? But no she chooses to forgive them in the end , is it like they say, a kind hearted person is always an idiot ? , maybe if that what it means so be it , if it mean that I would be an idiot then I am already one.

Now no need to regret anything she is dead , and she can finally rest maybe better , meet her parents and her sister yujin .

She knows that when people die either they go to heaven or hell based what they did in their life , she is well aware that what she did is wrong , she was going to hell and that didn't matter to her , she wasn't afraid of death and what's coming after it, after all she lived half of her life seeking for revenge.

In her line of work ,if you're afraid of death then you won't last very long , that's the first thing that her monitor told her when he took her under his wings .

She choose this profession at a fairly young age , barely 10 years old if we may say. adding that she nearly died many times but her luck got her in the last minute , she got used to it , so she wasn't scared of death , because it will come to you at any moment.

So yeah she expected hell and not this , when she regained consciousness she found herself cuddled in a soft blanket , she tried to open her eyes , but a bright light almost blinded her , after moments later her eyes finally adjusted to the light , but nevertheless her sight still a bit blurry , she noticed a figure of two shadows on her her right side , she tried to move but with out use .

' what's happening here , and why can't I move ?'

that was the first thought that come to her mind, she tried again but only to fail in the end. She was very confused so she lifted up one of her arms after many failed attempts. She was shocked after she saw her arm. It was shrunken!? No, it's more like it became a baby's hand? An unfamiliar figure lifted her up and gently swung her in their arms. At that moment,it clicked , she realized that she had reincarnated. She unconsciously begun crying, due to her little brain not being able to process all of that unbelievable information.

Then she was handed to another figure, the sound of a melody calmed her down and then she fell asleep melting in the warm embrace .

{ 12th January 1991 , Sawada household , Namimori town , Japan }

3 months have passed since Mei Xing was reborn as Sawada sayuri , she was still clueless about the situation that she got into , and who were her parents at least she knew that she was reincarnated as a baby but wasn't she supposed to forget her past life memories .

These questions always keep coming to her , but in the end she didn't find any answers to them and that irritates her not knowing more about her situation and she can't stay awake to thoughtfully think and observe her surroundings , she is in a baby's body .

She can finally see and hear clearly. The first thing she discovered even if she was just three months old back then , it was that her mother and father are talking in Japanese , yeah it wasn't hard for her to know that , seeing that she learned 11 languages and Japanese being one of them , so there is a possibility that she was now in Japan , or maybe her parents were Japanese and lived aboard , and there are many possibilities sigh now where she is going to start investigation .

she is in her crib looking at the selling with calculating eyes , trying to find any clue where she was , but she didn't notice anything special . then Suddenly, She felt herself being lifted up she opened her eyes and a smiling Nana greeted her .

" Sa-chan let's go to say good bye to your papa nee " her new mother said kissing her cheeks .

They went down the stairs heading to the front door where Iemitsu was , beside him a black suitcase , ready to go .

" Nana I'm sorry I hoped to stay longer with you and sayuri but you know how important my work is " he said to her .

' huh where is he going to ? ' the baby girl thought to herself still watching their interaction .

" I understand Iemitsu , you don't have to apologize your co-workers need you , beside I'm not alone I have Sa-chan with me " Nana said offering a soft smile , and the other nodded , smiling back .

' so my parents name are now Iemitsu and Nana , thought why do they sound so familiar ,well whatever , i think I will find out in the future, oh right my name now is Sayuri a Japanese name , I have to get used to it '

She woke up from her train of though when she felt someone kissing her forehead she looked up and found her dad looking at her with a smile .

" I'm sure you two will just all right , when I finish my work I will come back immediately " he promised while beaming , then he left.

After he left , Nana entered the home then went up to sayuri's room and put her in the crib caressing her hair so she can sleep .

But unknown to her a lot of thought are going through Sayuri's mind , she understood her situation very clearly , she can't go back , this is her home now , she is now Sayuri , Mei Xing is already died .

' Now I can't just hold to the past , I have to move on , right now I have a new family , I will protect them and won't let anybody hurt them , I won't be the ignorant girl I was before , i'm now Sawada sayuri not Mei Xing .' she thought with determination .

Unknown to her , her blue eyes flashed orange in a brief of a moment , in response to her will .

{ 16th June 1991 , Sawada household , Namimori town , Japan } .

Today is a special day , Nana decided to bring her daughter sayuri for the first time out , and the barely 8 month baby was looking for that , she can finally see where she was living , the only thing she know is that she is living in japan and that was only based on the language they communicate with, thought she heard her mother saying Namimori before is they living in some town or village in Japan ? But she never heard about Namimori being a town in Japan in her past life , that's weird .

" sa-chan today we will go out to meet my best friend , are you excited to go out ? " Nana asked her little daughter , and the little one smiled at her excitedly indicating that she was enthused to go .

After preparing all and that , They left the house heading out to meet the mother's friend .

It's been a long time for Nana since she visited her best friend , She felt guilty thought not being able to meet her , after Nana graduated from University she went to Italy were she meet Iemitsu and then got married , though she visited once in a while , either way it's been a long time since her last visit maybe 2 years or so , and she really missed her best friend , now since her baby is old enough to take her out , she decided it the right time to visit her friend Akira.

{ 16th June 1991 , Take sushi restaurant , Namimori town , Japan } .

Walking in Namimori streets was peaceful , it was a typical summer day , a bit hot if we may add , and sayuri who was now carried by her mother is looking at her surrounding with a curious look in her eyes , The pair daughter and mother finally arrived to where they will meet Nana's best friend , and sayuri was curious to see who is she .

sayuri was wearing a white sundress and yellow flats , her small hair was styled with a yellow r..... matching her shoes , As for Nana she was wearing a violet long skirt with a white blouse , she had her hair in a ponytail , she looked pretty young like she was a teenager even if she is in her twentieth .

Nana slid the door open then entered the restaurant , just as she entered she was greeted by the sight of a man with brown eyes and a black hair , wearing a clad in white shirt a band was warped around his head , Serving his customers sushi , When finally the man noticed them he greeted Nana with a grin .

" Nana , it's been along time !"

" yeah it was , how have you been Tsuyoshi ?" She greeted her best friend 's husband .

" fine as always , oh and who is this little one ? "

" this is my daughter Sayuri . " introduced Nana .

" I didn't know you have a daughter , she does resemble Iemitsu a lot " the man remarked looking down at the little infant who was looking back at him with curious look .

" oh can I hold her .." He asked Nana .

" of course " the other agreed immediately , handing little sayuri to him .

He took her from her hands , lifting her to his eyesight , the other just blinked at him , well if sayuri was an ordinary kid , she will start crying immediately ,as for little sayuri she isn't an ordinary child , she is mentally in her twentieth .

" is Akira here ? " Nana asked him , looking around the restaurant in hope to spot her best friend she didn't seen in ages .

" oh I almost forgot ... Akira !!"

Tsuyoshi called his wife who was in the second floor soon a woman with black hair and sharp eyes Came down the stairs wearing a blue Yukata .

" Nana " she shouted in joy just as she noticed Nana then tackled her in a bear hug , the other chuckled at her best friend 's antics .

Tsuyoshi and sayuri who were looking at the two interaction sweat drop .

~ minutes later ~

They are now sat around a traditional Japanese table drinking tea , Tsuyoshi is in the restaurant , As for Nana and Akira they were having a serious chat , with sayuri sitting in Nana's lap watching the two best friend argue with each other .

" he left ! Nana he can't just leave like this , sayuri-chan is barely one year , how could he " Akira said in frustration .

" his work is important Akira _" Akira cut Nana off before she can finish what she was about to say .

" excuses Nana excuses , don't try and defend him... " she sighed shaking her head .

" Akira ... "

" okey I understand you love him and all , so I won't tell you something you don't want to do , but mark this , if he tried and hurt you I will kill him ." Akira said with an intimidating tone .

And Nana chuckled " hai .."

Sayuri who was listening to their discussion frowned.

Finally understanding the reason behind her mother's sadness .

' so that's why mother cried last night , Humph , it's all because of him !! Is he even a man for making a cute girl like her cry ?' She though as she glared cough pout cough not realizing that she looked so cute .

Suddenly Akira turned her head around and spotted little Sayuri's cute expression .

" awe... Kawaii " she shouted , starling Nana and Sayuri , Nana followed her gaze to see the cute pout on her Sayuri's face .

And soon the mother followed her in squealing Sayuri  just debanded just know they were talking seriously and now Ugh just forget it .

{ 20th June 1991 , Sawada household , Namimori town , Japan }

They say time can heal the pain , and Mei Xing thought it was true , after months she finally got used to her new life , well not fully she still didn't accept about the whole baby thing , well what will be your reaction if you were put in a baby body ? Of course you can't imagine that , Re learning all the things you already known before , learn how to adabt to your new body , bearing the humiliation of being a baby such as changing diapers, drinking milk etc...

I think we somehow begin to get out of the topic , as I was saying before , time an heal pain , so As time passed she forgot her pain and now less nightmares comes to her when she sleeps , she can finally say that she was alive .

Now she is sitting on the carpet in the living room playing with her toys , her mother was in the kitchen cooking lunch with Akira -san and Tsuyoshi. her father as always nowhere to be found , maybe he was working aboard I really wonder what kind of work he does? Based on his muscular built , it have something to do with transporting , or maybe a bodyguard ... Then why does he have to go aboard ? , A note to mark ask her mother about it " until she regain the ability to talk " , thought she slightly begin to take a dislike on him , leaving his wife and daughter alone , not forgetting that he made Nana cry , so even if he return doesn't matter now for little Sayuri .

She was now trying to stand up on her bare feet but to fall on her butt in the end .

' I have a long way to go ' the baby though to herself pouting .

' how about I try crawling first, that's what baby do first , it won't be hard , right? ' with a determination she rolled on her abdomen , lifting her self up , after trying for few minutes , she finally did it , that's called for celebration.

crawling out of her playroom well it was tsuyoshi's fault for forgetting to close the door , taking the chance She want to explore the home she is living in for months , while she was giving the freedom to roam around and well that the adults are busy in the kitchen she won't get noticed ,hopefully so .

She crawled all the way to the room which was just next to hers , it was the living room , just as she entered to the room she spotted a mirror .

' I wonder how I look like in this life ? ' she though to herself then made her way to it .

Looking at the mirror she saw her reflection a chubby baby with blue sapphire eyes , and blond hair like her father .

' i'm adorable just adorable ... oh my eyes are the same from my past , oh right like they say the eyes are the key to the soul ' she thought smiling to myself .

Satisfied with what she saw she crawled back exiting the living room as soon as Tsuyoshi stepped in but he didn't notice her so she just ignored him and crawled away past the kitchen heading to the backyard .

She arrived to the tree then sit under it taking a break from all the crawling she just did , soon she fell asleep , but unknown to her while she was sleeping peacefully there , an uproar started inside the home .

Tsuyoshi went to the playroom where baby sayuri was but only to find that she disappeared he begun to panic what if someone came and kidnapped her .

Then he hurried to the kitchen to informe the two other " Nana, Akira , sayuri -chan isn't in her playroom "

" huh? "

Then they begin looking for her all over the house but in the end they didn't find her .

" Sa-chan where did you go sweety ? " Nana said in soft voice but panic is evident in it .

" did you find her? " asked Akira .Nana shook her head saying a soft No .

Nana went to look in the backyard there she found sayuri sleeping peacefully under the tree then she sighed in relief and smiled softly at the troublesome girl she called Akira and Tsuyoshi

Then two other come running to the backyard after hearing Nana 's calles then they noticed the sleeping baby .

" so she was here all along " Tsuyoshi said and Akira giggled .

" thought how did she get here ? " Tsuyoshi asked then they looked at each other with confuse then looked at the sleeping sayuri who was now in Nana 's embrace .

" she is so cute , I want to hug her ." cooed Akira " maybe she crawled her way her ." said Akira still fussing around the sleeping baby .

" crawling , isn't she a bit small for that ? She is barely 8 months old ?"

" huh ? Really then sayuri -chan is an intelligent baby " Akira said with an around tone.

" awww my baby girl is genius " Nana cooed , then the three settled their gaze at the sleeping sayuri , smiling at the angelic face .

{ 03 August 1991 , Take sushi restaurant , Namimori town }

"Come on Sayuri - chan say aunty " AKira was trying to make the 9-month - old sayuri talk and say her name.

" Akira , she can't talk she is only 9 month old !! " the man sighed trying to put some sense in his

wife .

" but Nana said to me she already said her first word , right nana ? "

" yup and her first word was Mama " Nana nodded chuckling at the news married couple argue .

" huh ? Really ? Wait aren't babies supposed to talk until they turn ... Unless ... Nana your daughter is genius !!! " The Man said surprised with what he heard .

" now come on sayuri-chan say uncle ..." The one who was trying before to put sense in his wife now was trying to make sayuri say his name and the other two women were speechless at the man .

"....."

"....."

" what ? " the man asked .

" that's not fair , I was the first , so sayuri say aunty Akira come on A-u-n-t-y "

And sayuri who was the main interest today just ignored them .the she stood up startling all of them

Then went to the kitchen, she tried to pick up a glass of water but it was too high for her to reach it , she pout and went back to the crowd whom are still shocked. She hugged her mother's waist then pointed towards the kitchen "water." She said with childish voice , They all looked at each other before laughing "hahah sayuri-chan so there's something you still can't do huh!" Akira said."you're still a short baby after all!" Tsuyoshi added. Sayuri pouts and tugs on Nana's shirt. The latter giggled softly and lift her up then went to give her daughter what she wanted ,leaving the couple who were still laughing.

{ 05th october 1991 , Sawada household , Namimori town, Japan } .

Sawada Iemitsu was back to Namimori after he left for nearly half a year , now he is on his way to the Sawada household , He can't wait to see his wife and his little angel sayuri .

He finally arrived to his home .

" Nana i'm back " he shouted opening the front door

His wife was delighted, that she was crying tears of joy .

" thank you for you hard work ,Anata " she said while smiling .

"I'm home ! " he said and hugged her.

Then they went to the living room where sayuri was sitting , he noticed his daughter and ran to her with a a grin,  the other just glared at him then looked away , but that act went unnoticed by Iemitsu well more like ignored it , hugging her and squeezing her.

" Icant briwth " ( i can't breath ) , Sayuri said startling the father who was surprised by hearing his daughter speak then he let go of her ,nearly making her fall on the ground if not for her mother who caught her then she smiled at her husband who was still in his state with a mouth wide open then said,

" you'll never guess how talented our Sa-chan is ,

She was 8 months and she crawled all the way to the backyard .and also said her first word and even she can walk isn't that great .? "

Meanwhile Sayuri was glaring at her father .

~minutes later ~

Finally he calmed down a little Then he pointed to himself while looking at his daughter"say papa!" He said happily and with high expectatios.

Sayuri rolled her eyes and said "Baka-mitsu" bluntly.

The silence fell in the room Iemitsu was processing what his daughter just said , after the realization Hit him he paled remembering the hitman reborn with the fedora and chameleon , threatening to make holes in his skull with a gun.

Shaking the though away from his mind he went back to reality .

Before he say anything sayuri already walked away leaving behind her, Nana And Iemitsu who asked nervously where did she learned that , and the wife shrugged her shoulder indicating that she doesn't know , thought she was also curious to know how , she know that her daughter is genius , maybe she heard it in someone in the restaurant or maybe Akira , as always Nana just let it slide . unlike Iemitsu who was sweating nervously , fearing that his little 'adorable' , 'cute' daughter will become like the hitman .

{ 15th October 1999, Sawada household , Namimori town , Japan }

Sayuri was sitting on her crib , looking out the window absently , the rain is pouring heavily outside , it's the middle night , everyone is asleep , it's a total silence , the only thing you could hear is the sound of rain drops hitting the window's glass , a typical night of October .

Little Sayuri isn't asleep like any other baby should be doing right now. Well, she is not a normal one after all .she was thinking deeply , more precisely remembering a memory from Her past life , a happy one .

A beautiful a blond woman was sitting on a sofa in a  living room.

a little kid with with soft black hair and beautiful blue Sapphire eyes , running in the corridor , dodging all the furniture Until she arrived to the living room , she called out to the woman who was knitting.

" mommy !!" The little girl ran to her mother and hugged her , nearly tripping On her way .

The older woman smiling softly at her little child with a scolding yet soft tone she scolded her " Mei Xing how many times I should tell you don't run in the corridor , you may fall and hurt your self " .

" but I didn't !" The girl whined at her mom.

" Mei Xing "

" I understand mama "

she noticed the strange things in her mother's hands.

"Mommey, what are you doing ? " a 4 years baby Xing Mei curiously asked her mother .

" this is called knitting , I'm making a scarf for you ! " the mother replied happily .

" how are you doing it ?"

" here I will show you " she said lifting Mei to her lap then begin showing her the steps" First ,.. .and tada , did you get it ? "

The other nodded unsure if she understood. after many attempts she failed miserably .

" Mommy,  it's not easy!" the baby pouted slightly finding it difficult to do even the basics, let alone keep up with her mother. The two spent their time like that.

The mother giggled at her " of course it will be hard first , but you will learn eventually , the matter is that You don't give up even if it is hard " .

Her daughter nodded " then when I Learn knitting and I will make mommy the best scraf ever , and it will be this long " she spread her arms childishly

Then a voice of a man come from the door .

" what are my two lovely wife and daughter doing ? "

" daddy !!!" The baby girl beamed happily as she ran to him ,and the other hugged her. "Mommy is teaching me how to knit " she happily replied .

" oh is that so ? You want to learn how to knit Then " he said and little mei nodded in confirmation.

" Hai and I will make  a long scarf for you and mommy "

" then i 'm looking to wear it after you finished "

" okey "

While her parents where chatting , she took the knitting tools and .For 6 minutes , She tries imitating her mother but she fails and gets stuck on the threads.

The two other in the room suddenly heard a "thud " sound they turned their head to the direction were it comes only to see little Mei Xing struggling to get free from the threads While pouting cutely .

And the two adults start giggling at her , the mother stand up from her place and went to free her from all the mess she had done .

" now Mei Xing what were you trying to do exactly ?" The mother asked after freeing her barely containing her laughters .

" I want to make a scarf on my own ...But I failed  " Mei Xing said sadly.

" aw come on don't be sad , how about we make it together ? That's way you won't get stuck on the threads again , what do you say ? "

" Really ? "

" of course "

" you know Mei sometimes we can't do things alone ,

That's why we need other's help , and don't hesitate to seek for help if you need it "

The father said to his daughter .

" okey "
