Chapter 10

Mia's pov:

After getting from the secret door of the restaurant to the kitchen (yeah I have a secret door, I have to), the first one I spotted is Chu Hua. "Morning Chu." I greeted. She's always the first one to arrive and I love that about her.

"Nǐ hǎo Mia, nǐ hǎo ma?"(meaning: Hello Mia, how are you?) I hate Chinese because it's a very difficult language.

"Chu, you know I don't understand a single word you say. Please speak in English with me?!" I tried to master the cutest puppy eyes while pleading her.

"Oh come on Mia, you know what 'Nǐ hǎo' means." Everyone knows what that means. "Yeah, but that's all I understand...and few words."

"Kızlar! Ne haber?"(meaning: Girls! What's up?) In the kitchen, it goes like this. Each one of them teases the other with his mother language and I'm the only one who can't do that because they all understand English. I hate this fact.

"Arascim."('cim' in Turkish means 'mine' but also it's a friendly way in Turkey to say someone's name adding 'cim' at the end) I smiled at Aras when in fact I'm pissed.

I was able to learn Spanish from Antonio, Italian from Alberto, Turkish from Aras but I never could learn Chinese from Chu no matter how much I tried. I can count the words she taught me.

"Evet Mia?"(meaning: Yes Mia?) He put his elbows on the counter. "English please." He rolled his eyes. "Learning a new language won't kill you." I heard the door of the kitchen opened so I rose my finger pointing at Antonio and Alberto.

"No Spanish nor Italian." They obviously didn't understand what was going on. They both rose their hands in surrender. I have nothing against languages but it's not sweet when you don't understand things.

"Dude, relax." Said Alberto. "Dude is used for men not women." He shrugged. "Who cares?"

"Okay guys, enough teasing. Let's start working." If I listen to them, we won't cook even a sauce. "Sir, Yes sir." They all said at once and I laughed at that. The co-chefs were already here so we started cooking.

A few years ago, mom sent me on a small tour. I first went to Mexico which is just under us. It's there where I met Antonio. We had cooking Mexican food lessons together. Then I left from there to Italy where I had lessons of how to cook Italian food. I met Alberto there too.

From Italy to Turkey to learn cooking the Turkish food so I met Aras. And finally to China where I met Chu. No, we didn't share the same cooking classes. I met her randomly on the road when I was trying to find my way but no one understood English.

Thank god she did so she helped me and kept in touch. She helped me all the period I spent there. She was so nice and thoughtful. She also has an interest for cooking. So like this, when Angy and I decided to have a restaurant, I proposed to them to work with me.

This way the restaurant will have different sorts of food and they agreed. That's what made the restaurant successful and we need to keep it this way. The guys kept the teasing while working. They love to piss me off saying that I look cute when I'm angry. Is this why everyone pisses me off?

"GUYS." I shouted, not angry but playing the game along with them. I don't get seriously mad at them when we joke around. When they all looked at me, I spoke. "I'm going to tell Angy to employ a translator for me. I'll see your smiles when I understand everything you talk." I smirked.

Speaking of the devil. Well, she is not a devil. Angy came to the kitchen panicked. She grabbed my hand taking me away to have privacy and she whispered in my ear. "He asked me out." I looked at her with my confused face. "Who?"

"Mike, who else?" I took my head away a bit to have a clear view of her face still whispering. "You said he won't come today."

"That's what I thought. Apparently, he wanted to surprise me and to be honest, he did. I'm glad I didn't listen to you this morning and made sure I look perfect." I gave her my most annoyed look. "Really? That's what you are thinking about now?"

I ignored that and asked about the main topic. "What did he say?" She looked down and I followed her gaze. She had a paper between her hands saying: I'm picking you up when you finish. I have something to show you.

I again looked at her with my annoyed look. "Really? You call this asking out? It's more like an order."

She shrugged not caring. "This is romantic. Anyway, this isn't the problem. He's picking me when I finish. That's at midnight and I need to wear something nice."

"It's not a big deal, just take a leave and go change then meet him." She looked hesitant. "I don't know. What will the workers think if I leave early?" She's right and I can't keep an eye on them. It's not like they won't do their job but it's different when the boss is around. "It's not like you do it every day. Just go."

She jumped excitedly kissing my cheek and thanking me. She started to leave then turned. "Mia?!" I hummed at her. "He's so handsome." I chuckled at that. "I know."

Angy left for her date. I asked Chu to keep an eye on the waiters from time to another to make sure nothing misses and no one fights. Yeah, sometimes we have those stupid arrogant rich people who love to embarrass our workers when something doesn't go as they want it.

They are so lucky I can't expose myself otherwise, I'll kick their asses. But Angy takes good care of it. She is wise when she wants to be.

Finally midnight came. I got to my car then took my phone to check for any notifications. Angy texted me. She sent me a photo of the dress and the high heels she wore. It's a green long dress opened from one side to the thigh, she left her hair free.

Mike will surely lose his heart tonight. After admiring her, I sent a text to mom.

Me: Hey mom, I just got out of work and heading home. Don't worry. Love you.😘

Mom will be asleep by now so I don't wait for her reply. I went home feeling exhausted. 'It's just Monday Mia, just the beginning of the week.' I told myself. I came out of my car getting to my room to have a bath and sleep. I love the baths after a hard day of work.

Angy wasn't here yet. Someone is having fun. After the bath, I threw myself on bed to have the rest I've been waiting for. Just when I started to relax, I heard loud music from the neighbours.

No one lives under us neither above us. But there are people living next to us. They've never been noisy. In fact, Angy and I are the noisy ones. I wonder how come they didn't call the police yet.

I hid my head under the pillow to stop the music from bothering me but it didn't work. Exasperated, I went to whoever put the music to ask them to shut it. I need rest for heaven's sake. Who even throws a party on Monday?

I followed the source of the music and knocked on the door hardly to make sure whoever is behind that door will hear me. I turned my back to the door trying to calm myself. I will ask them nicely of course but I can't help feeling angry for them disturbing my rest.

I heard the door opened so I turned to face whoever it is. "You must be kidding me." I said to myself. Surprise is all over my face but the reaction I got from him means he heard it.

Jason is standing now in front of me, wearing a black large T-shirt and jeans, his short hair is a bit messy. Can this man get any more handsome? Have mercy on my heart man.

"Why are you always on the defensive and ready to kick someone. More like, ready to kick me?" Jason asked. "What?" why would he ask that? Is it how I sound to him?

"Are you deaf?" another question I didn't understand why he asked it. "What?" Now I may look dumb because all what I'm saying to him is 'what'. "Why do you keep asking 'what' to everything I say to you?"

"That's because you're talking nonsense." I replied with a complaining tone. He gave me the really?-look. Then a woman appeared behind him. "Jason? What's taking you so long?" One thing is sure, this woman is not Emma but still, I couldn't help feeling a bit jealous.

Just when I was on my way to make scenarios of who she is and what she is doing at this time with Jason in this one-month-empty flat, Seb appeared.
