The Thirty Fourth

Before I took my time to observe the area I asked the lady if she had a name and she said no. She told me I could call her whatever I wanted but the name wouldn't be set in stone since only Father reserved the right to truly name her. I called her the first thing that came to mind, Thetia. She seemed indifferent about the name but accepted it nonetheless.

After I finished talking to Thetia I looked around and slowly took in my surroundings. The place had a pseudo sun shining in the sky while we were surrounded by brick walls. In the center of the area were several things holding varying types of weapons and many desks containing books. Along the walls were several targets and training dummies. There was also a large open area with nothing in it. Thetia called this place the training grounds, it will be the place where I will learn to fight, read, and write.

(Thetia) "Alright Little one, the first thing we will do is test your skills, so follow me to that large open area." As I was following her she had an evil grin on her face that sent shivers down my spine. It was as if she had just found a new toy to play with. As we reached the open area she told me to take a look and confirm my status. I willed my status to appear and was astounded by what I saw.

Thetia was muttering to herself about 'unlimited potential' or something along those lines but I didn't get ahead of myself because I was afraid of failure. Thetia told me she was going to test my fighting skills so she told me to prepare myself. I readied myself in a stance where I held my sword forward in my left hand while putting my right hand behind my back. I put my left foot forward and my right one back and stood there to wait for what was coming.

Not long after a red formation similar to the teleportation glyph appeared in front of me some distance away and blue light surrounded it. Once the light dissipated a black wolf appeared. When I appraised the wolf it said it was a death wolf at level ten. Isn't this a bit much for a first fight? Are you trying to kill me? I looked over to Thetia and she just smiled with an evil grin. Fucking sadist.

After a few moments of staring at the black wolf deep into the depths of it's blue eyes it started to charge towards me. Once it got close the wolf raised its claws and slashed them at me. I swiftly moved under his claws and went straight to stabbing his neck with my blade. Much to my surprise it went straight through and the wolf staggered back after being impaled by my sword somehow still alive. Apparently I delivered a critical hit to it, but didn't kill it in one hit, how upsetting. As the wolf backed up it spit out blood from it's mouth onto the ground and struggled to stand up. I saw this as my chance and charged forward to finish it off. Since I was being careful I saw that it was preparing a last ditch effort attack, and I stopped it from chanting before it could finish. A few seconds later the wolf laid there, decapitated.

Thetia looked disappointed at the result. I think I'm not going to like this chick as the training goes on. The next thing she did was summon another wolf but this time it was level 25. She told me that I could only kill this one with my magic. Since I had to listen to her I put away my sword as much as I didn't want to. When I open up my void magic page on my status the only spell there is called endless and apparently it's the only spell I can learn of that type for some reason. This realization upset me but I got over it hoping that this one spell would be able to destroy this wolf.

The wolf didn't wait long and started to chant a spell while charging me. Let's just hope that this works. I closed my eyes and focused for a second before uttering the word 'endless'. The very moment that word left my mouth the wolf was surrounded by darkness from the very depths of the void and it didn't stop. The wolf was screaming and howling but after a few moments it went silent. I released the spell and after the darkness disappeared all that was left was the bones of the wolf as if all the meat was eaten by the void.

For the first time I saw a surprised reaction from Thetia. Hah take that! While I was fist bumping the air, telepathically, Thetia called me over to the desk surrounded by a large amount of books. Apparently time went by faster than I thought and it was almost time for Father to visit. When Thetia told me that, I was trembling with excitement as to what wonders he would show me. Not long after I saw my father appear through a portal that Thetia opened up. I ran up to him and jumped into his arms for a hug. Shit I was a bit too happy, it hasn't even been that long since he left.

Today Father was going to educate me on skill books and possible paths I could take with my fighting. After he heard how my fights went against the wolves he patted my head and I almost fell asleep from how comforting it felt. Thetia went off to do something while me and Father went to the desk with the assortment of books. Father taught me about how if I look at a skill book, I can instantly learn a skill from it. My eyes shined at this fact but Father said I shouldn't have too many skills because it would be too much to manage. When he told me this I calmed down and thought about what kind of fighter I wanted to be.
