Chapter 7

I was surprised to find out that I had been put on the payroll. I also no longer had to eat leftovers from the plates. I was allowed leftovers from the much satisfying kitchen. Things had begun to look up for me. Although the behaviour of the pack towards me did not change, I remained optimistic. I was determined to save all the money I earned until it was enough to survive in human society.

Alpha Wildbreed's questions baffled me. I doubted if they would let the matter rest. I began to sense that my time there was running out. Hopefully, I would have earned enough and left before they found out I had lied.

Alex

Seven months had past and there was no news of the Blackwells. I began to wonder if they truly existed. Could a fifteen-year-old rogue have lied about where she was from? We have always been able to trace the roots of every rogue we had accommodated except for this one. This made me very uneasy. I began to fear my mother was right about the rogue. What bothered me the most was the fact that my father refused to listen. What if she was sent by another pack to infiltrate and study our pack? Although the Yellow moon pack was not the most powerful in the wolf society, we still held our own and managed to be a force to reckon with. My father had worked very hard in his time and increased the status of our pack in the wolf society. Were ranked at fourth place in strength among the wolf society. I was worried my father had let his guard down where the rogue was concerned. I decided I would Interrogate her myself. Although Alpha authority won't work on her, I knew fear and force will.

Master Alex had sent for me in the night after working hours. I had been summoned to the interrogation office. I had tried my best to avoid him for months. I would usually clean his environment and deliver his laundry while he was absent. So I became worried when he suddenly sent for me at night.

"We cannot let him know who we are" a strange voice spoke in my head and I immediately began to fear. The voice that had tormented me for two years now was back and strong.

"Who are you?" I asked aloud, on my way to the interrogation room.

" No need to speak out, we can speak in your mind," she responded " I am Helena, your wolf"

I was surprised and I thought I was crazy because Helena was my middle name.

"Your middle name is always your wolf's name," she told me

"Sam, we do not have much time here anymore. I am about to emerge and if they see our wolf form they will know who we are, and I am not currently strong enough to defend us. It is time to leave, Sam" she said.

"Where would I go. What will I do?" I asked her worried. I knew my wolf would emerge sooner than the average wolf but I was not expecting it this soon.

"I would have emerged two years ago but I held back to buy us time. I cannot anymore," she said and it all began to make sense. The blackouts my strange behaviour, the voice in my head. I wasn't crazy it was my wolf emerging. I knew she was right, It would be dangerous to shif in Yellow moon pack because my breed was rare. They would figure out my family. I had to find a way to leave.

"how long do we have before you emerge?" I asked.

"Two full moons. If we cannot make it by then, find yellow roses and make a drink from them. I will use our magic to camouflage our breed to buy us more time here." she replied and I felt her presence recede.

When the rogue entered the room, something shifted in the atmosphere. Her scent was different. It was soothing to my senses. I hadn't felt so relaxed in my life. Everything suddenly shifted. It was as if the ground had moved. I also noticed she was looking a lot better than she used to. Her brown eyes had specks of gold in them. I wondered why I never noticed. Her brown hair had golden highlights. It was unusual but it was very pretty. She was beautiful. The most beautiful girl I had ever set my eyes on. I wondered why I never noticed her to begin with. Her scent filled my senses. It was lavender and something sweet. I didn't know how long I stared at her and I didn't care. I felt a strong need to hold her and never let go. I was under her spell.

Robert cleared his throat and it snapped me out of my daydream. I suddenly didn't feel like interrogating her anymore. Something had shifted in me. To get my senses, I gently asked her to leave. The moment I touched her shoulders I felt pleasurable electric sparks all over my body. I was tempted to ask her to stay, so I could feel what I was feeling a little longer but I knew that would be against my better judgment.

What happened in the interrogation room was weird. The way Master Alex looked at me was unsettling. I began to fear if he had found out something about me. I was scared at first but soon I became calm and relaxed. Nothing had happened to make me feel that way but I did. I felt something shift in me. When he placed his hand on my shoulder I felt a soothing warmth course through me. I tried to hide it and I hoped he didn't notice. When he asked me to leave I was glad because I knew if I stayed any longer, he would notice.

Alex

I stayed up in my room wondering what had just happened to me. The moment she left I felt alone and empty. My wolf tried to tell me something but I could feel his hesitation and I didn't blame him. My mother had always thought me to tame my wolf and never share control with him. My father said otherwise. Years of control over my wolf had made him more of a tool than a part of me. After what I felt looking at the rogue I began to feel I hadn't been fair to my wolf.

"Damien, can you tell me what just happened to me, please," I asked my wolf. It took him a minute but then he responded.

"She is our mate "
