Chapter 1

Her eyes gaze sharply onwards resembling a hungry carnivore. She holds a sharp-eye thingy towards the eyes. The more it takes, the angrier she looks.

She won't stop shoving the sharp eye into her eyes as if her fate is depending on it.

"Holy cow!!"

A shriek has passed through her mouth as she felt pain in the eye. Heat droplets can be seen clearly on her face as time passed by. Nevertheless, it won't stop her from 'stabbing' her eyes all over again.

After a long time passed, she let out a heavy, relieved sigh. Her glasses start to fog whilst sweats are covering her face.

"GOD DAMN FUDGE NUGGETS! IT'S SO HOT IN HERE MY FOUNDATION IS MELTING!!" Melanie screams as she tries to fix her make-up.

"Ugh, damn it what a woman I am! Make-up and stuffs to look pretty and for what?! Just for it to be melting when I am YET to go outside. Geez look at these eyeliners have gotten messy, ugh I worked so hard that I even poked my own eyeballs! What a very nice day to start with," the woman she is, Melanie explodes as everything is going downwards from the very morning.

As her hand is busy fixing her face, her eyes went around wandering to look at the time.

8.20 am.

40 minutes left until she will be so-called the official university student. As a very enthusiastic person, she wakes up at 7.30 am and dressed up with a purple t-shirt, topped with an ironed red-checkered piece, paired with black ripped jeans, and grey-colored snickers for the first day.

Color combination fails to its extend, Melanie, a damn fashion terrorist.

"All settled!" she reached out for her student identification card and hung it on her neck.

"Holy Mother Teresa, I feel so classy," the girl mumbles as she sees her own reflection in the mirror.

After a few poses and mirror selfies, she took off with a backpack and a cap to complete the whole fashion show today. Once everything is settled, Melanie locks the door and walks a few steps ahead only to stop again, and waits for her new friend that she just got to knew yesterday at the café.

Lucky for her, they got clicked quite quickly thus makes Melanie feels comfortable enough to shout each other's name whenever, wherever.

"KATHERINE! I'M OUTSIDE!!" her shouts echo along the corridor.

"ONE MINUTE!!!"

Here we go, a shouting competition over a door.

"NO WORRIES!!! TAKE YOUR TIME KAT!"

"I'M ALMOST DONE MEL TRUST ME!"

"YEA I KNOW, I SAID TAKE YOUR TIME!"

"ONE SECOND!"

And they continue to shout though they can actually just open the door and converse comfortably.

"Ho..ly..mo...lly…Kat..I…am…he..lla..dizzy" Melanie struggles to talk as she is trying her best to breathe enough air. Her hand squeezes Katherine's shoulder real hard to slow her down. However, being a climber as she is, nothing can slow Kat down, except a pretty girl.

"For God sakes Katherine…my lungs are drained…" says Melanie with a pause on each word.

"Girl, you need to exercise more," she lets out a laugh seeing her new friend suffers from anaerobic responses.

"No, thanks…my..fat..are…precious"

"I swear to God you talk 10 as your legs walk one step, Mel," Kat says while slightly dragging Mel along the road to make sure they won't be late for their first class.

The whole journey of them trying to find their class venue is filled with Melanie's talk and sigh. The more she is tired, the more her mouth starts to vomit words meanwhile her legs won't even take that much step in a minute.

Thank God Katherine has an angel heart or else Melanie would end up in a bush somewhere along the road.

"Geez, how can a white girl be this weak! Wake up, Mel! Come on, up! Up! Up!"

Kat starts to push Mel from behind to make her move faster as there isn't much time left until 9. On the other side, Melanie who is already lost her soul just lets the universe move her body the way it wants.

As Melanie is seeing stars and sparkle in her vision due to walking around too much, suddenly she felt light. Super light that she just fell over the road because Kat just decides to ditch the parasite to confirm what's in front of her.

"Finally! Exactly 5 minutes before 9 o'clock!" Kat pats her sweaty forehead lightly with her arm. Her eyes are beaming seeing the building in front of them that says 'Academy Building'.

After almost 30 minutes of the long journey under the direct light, they finally found it. While Kat is trying to catch her breath, the lying-on-the-road Melanie breaks the silence.

"Kat, did I just fly?" Mel asks as she stares deeply towards the sky above.

"Melanie…you just fell…"

"Why is that falling doesn't feels like fall at all? It feels more like summer. It should be summering not falling,"

"…" Kat rolled her eyes.

Melanie let out a scoff laughing at her own joke.

"Oh, I am so funny" she laughs while doing a small roll from left to right on the road.

"C'mon, move your ass up, we're getting late to class oh-so-funny-girl," Kat held her hand towards Mel to help her stand.

Later on, just right on time, they both made it to their first class, fully sweating from head to toe.

"Oh, we got to avoid air-con seat for the sake of everyone's nose" Kat whisper as they both move to pick their sits.

"Okay so hi and very good morning to every single one of you. This is our first class, right? I'm Mrs. Haught. Though I sounded hot, y'all need to calm your ass down, okay? Don't ever flirt with me because I am a married happily ever after woman," Mrs. Haught's statement made the whole class cackle.

"I don't really care if you're late to my classes, as long as you're making effort to be there, I'm all good,"

Kat and Mel share a secret glance over each other at the word 'late'. They're indeed lucky. At least for this subject.

Going deep into the class session, Melanie didn't even blink as she is too focused on the lecture. It's the only thing she is best at, aside from talking. During the lecture, Kat has been struggling to keep her focus on and she thought it would be the same for Mel, however, this is totally a new side of her few-days-old friend.

She didn't even flinch a bit for the rest of the lecture when all Kat has been doing is touching her empty notes here and there, playing with her phone and stuff.

After an exhausting 2 hours of the lecture, Kat finally able to breathe and see clearly again.

"Oh God, just when I thought pushing you to walk is the worst, this lecture has proved me wrong," the red girl stretches her hand up to the sky to remove the sore feeling.

"Kat, you don't whine on your first lecture," Melanie says as she is having her finishing touch on the notes she wrote earlier during the lecture.

"I hate this class already. I didn't even catch a thing earlier,"

"Oh no you don't," Melanie scoffs as she slams her notes on Kat's table, followed by a wink and a smile.

"No, you don't Mel," Katherine takes a look at the brunette in the eyes, searching for meaning.

"It's yours" she still wears a smile on her face.

"Oh hell no it is not" the red girl refuses to believe this few-days-old friendship is this big already.

"It is. I don't need notes. Just wrote it for fun,"

"Jesus, I didn't know your middle name is Melanie 'Einstein' Harris"

"And I didn't know that your middle name is Katherine 'slushy' Noah"

"Of course, what would I expect you to say,"

Melanie sticks out her tongue as she flicks the red girl's forehead.

"SON OF A-.... MELANIE THAT'S MY FOREHEAD NOT A PLACE TO FLICK YOUR FINGER"

With that, the brunette-lazy girl starts to run with a huge laughter escapes from her big mouth, followed by Kat, an obvious rock-climber who has better stamina, with her red forehead storming across the building.

Most important is, they are both wearing a genuine smile.

Where did it all goes wrong?
