Chapter 21

Fang Sanctuary

I smiled a little as I waved at him for the last time. I am heading to some foreign land, and for my expedition.

My expedition to be held will not be about the ancient history, and discovering fossils. I am a bit nervous to step down the plane as it landed to my destination's airport.

I sighed heavily as I pushed my luggage with me. I was roaming my sight around the airport's hall, looking for them.

I couldn't help but to plaster a smile. I've been reading about them, and it took me years to fully understand them. To fully understand those beings.

And, it gone more harder when Shivana meddles. She, sometimes would wrote some letter, mocking me.

It was tiring being with her. Sometimes, when I slept off, the time I open my eyes, a lot of material things were flooded at my room.

I waved my hand at them, as I saw a board with my name written on it. They waved back at me with a warm smile.

I walked towards them, and they met me midways. A guy got my luggage with him, and the other remained standing in front of me, still plastering their warm smile.

"Hi," I awkwardly said and waved a little.

"Hello, Ms. Alice. Welcome!" A woman with probably the same age as me enthusiastically said.

"Uh, yeah. Thank you," I responded, still feeling awkward. I averted my gaze sideways, which I regret doing afterwards.

I felt like there was a very hard lump stuck at my throat as of the moment our gazes met. I could vividly see his every movement, how his lips move as he was talking to someone at his phone. His eyes were fixed at mine, as he took steps in advance.

I suddenly shiver as everything came gushing in a span of seconds. I could feel my hearts thumping loudly, and throbbing a little in surprise. I felt like all the bloods in my face drained off, as he was still gazing at me directly in the eyes.

I was still looking at him as he tore our gazes. And, everything went to normal. How some excited people ran towards their love ones. I swallowed once again as I felt some tears forming at my eyes.

He did just look at me. He didn't even bother waving. He did just walked away, and pretended that he didn't know me.

"Ms. Alice, are you okay?" The woman's voice hovered. I blinked twice and settled my sight at them.

"H-huh?" I uttered with a haywire thoughts. She smiled again.

"He's handsome, right?" She responded with a teasing tone.

"Pardon?" I implied. She chuckled.

"I followed where you were looking, at both of you looked at it other in the eyes, so, you probably saw clearly how he look." She replied. I cough fakely and straighten my posture.

"I don't know," I said, trying to shrug the thought of him as I cut the conversation about him. "Care to introduce yourselves?" I added to lose the conversation about him.

"Ah! Hahaha! Sorry for being rude, anyway, I am Channel Smith, and these are Jayson and Joana Furrer, they're twin. And, the last one, the one who took care of your luggage is Homer Reid. We are the team you requested for your expedition." She said.

"Welcome, madame," the twins greeted. I nodded shortly at them.

"I'm tired, can I go on my way now?" I asked.

"Let us walk you towards your car, Ms. Alice." Joana, one of the twin said as she lead the way.

"Ma'am---" Channel said that I instantly cut off.

"You are not my student," I uttered plainly as I took my steps in advance.

"Well, anyway, I know, that this isn't a usual expedition that's why I brought you this team." She said that made me look at her.

"How did you know?" I asked.

"Mr. Alexander told me beforehand," she responded and smiled. I awkwardly smiled back at her.

"Ha! Why does he always stick his nose at my business, it's not as if he believe me." I mumbled as we continue to walk.

We were at the airport's parking lot, they were still walking with me, and escorted me towards my car.

"It was nice seeing you for the first time, Ms. Alice. Were looking forward on having a great adventure with you. Have a safe trip." Channel stated. I shook my head as I slide in. This woman, really. She's so full of energy.

"Thank you. Take care as you drive on your way." I stated and slide in. The driver nodded at me through the windshield's mirror, and later roared the engine to life.

I rested my back, as I massaged my temple. My eyes were close as I rolled the window down. A little smile was crafted at my lips, the moment, the cold breeze of misty and fresh air embrace me.

I was to taking a nap, feeling so light with the new peaceful environment when suddenly 'his' image flashed right infront of my eyes. Then, terrifying began haunting me. I opened my gaze and paraniodly looked around. I almost forgot that I was at the car right now.

I shivered, and looked outside the window. The weather was then turned gloomy, and dark.

The moment we arrived at the place where I would live for the meantime, I sighed in relief. The car inside was just so suffocating, thought I said the cold breeze of wind helped me to breath finely... it just that everytime, my mind flashes his image at the airport, I felt like I forgot how to breath. The moment my mind recalls his gazes, I felt like I was choke to death.

It's been years, and he grown up beautifully and fine. Though, I wasn't there as he achieve everything in his life, at least, for a short time, I saw what he become.

A very fine young man, bearing sharp gazes that would make your knees tremble and turn jelly.

I was hopeful to meet him some other time, when everything in me is already settled yet, the destiny didn't let my plan to happen. Because, he just made our path cross today.

He didn't even change a bit, aside from his physique and more mature looking today. His looks is still daring and comely. And, he never put smile at his face. Somewhat, he's still the same Caifer I have known back from ages ago.

I went out of the car and stared at the to storey building that Attorney built for me to live while doing my expedition.

I sighed and shook my head at him when I saw that his what he so called 'house' is not a mere house, but a two storey building.

"Ma'am, I'll put your luggage inside," The driver uttered. I nodded lightly. He then, walked towards the house and went inside.

I couldn't put myself to step inside the big house as there was still a question that kept on bagging inside my head, just the formed the moment I saw him at the airport.

"What is he doing here? Why is he here?" I murmured while staring at nowhere.

"Ma'am, your luggage is now taken care by the maid. They request you to come inside, so that you can choose which room would you like to stay." The driver relay a message. I sighed frutratingly and just went inside.

'Why are you here, Caifer Andreus Smith?'
