I woke up with a start to find myself alone in a completely white space.
‘What happened?’ I asked my other self but got no answer.
I felt tired and my bones were aching so bad.
What had happened?
It was the first time in this life that my body had felt such weakness, a feeling I remembered well from my stay at the hospital in my previous life. Fortunately, here there were no machines to help me breathe, nor tubes coming from my chest or needles penetrating my skin.
This was not the past or my present, this was something else.
As soon as that thought crossed my mind, the white area around me began vanishing like a bank of fog, to reveal European buildings in the distance and a great garden all around me. Before me was a great fountain with a statue of a siren on top, pouring water from a vase.
I was startled out of my reverie by a male voice.
