Interlude To An Ending

It was the middle of the afternoon when I came to my senses. Aramis changed me into my nighties. I knew her to be such a worrywart; she wouldn’t be able to sleep as long as I remained unconscious.

So, I shook my head and pulled the ribbon beside my bed, the one used to summon servants to my room.

Not a minute later, my father opened the door and rushed to sit beside me on the bed.

“How do you feel, my angel? Did the food from the restaurant not agree with you? Are you alright?”

I couldn’t help but giggle at his caring manners. If my own father had been like this, my life would have been much different.

“I am fine, I-” I shook my head. “I remembered something, and what I saw scared me.” I didn’t like lying to the man, but how was I to explain that I came in contact with the man that I loved after he was reborn? Impossible. Recovering memories was easier to explain.

“Scared you?!” By his reaction, perhaps my choice of words hadn’t been the best either.
