On the way back, I covertly asked the dragon for directions to the source he had mentioned before, and every time he pointed in the same direction of the capital, until the last stretch where he pointed north-east.
“Can you tell me how far it is?”
“Hmmm? I don’t know, not far.”
“A day away? Half a day?”
“Sorry, I don’t know.”
The little beast shrugged and wrapped around my wrist yet again, most likely to sleep…something that he did often. I was uncertain whether it was due to his depleted chi or other factors, but the little guy remained silent since our march began.
Staring wistfully in the direction the dragon had pointed, I desired nothing more than to venture there and uncover what I could, and to ascertain if I could truly harness the source to improve my cultivation. However, it looked like that would have to wait, because I could already spot a rider coming our way from the city.
